That this song breaks my heart is the precise reason I love it. The older I get the more I understand that life really is better lived not knowing how the story ends.
i have loved every song this man sings since i was old enough to remember listening to music i in my fiftys now i love this man so much always beautiful loving music
NOTICE: Ronnie Milsap is coming out w/ "Country Again" July 26! "If You Don't Want Me to" will be released the 18th! Please spread the word everywhere!
This song is totally awesome!! Anyone who has ever been "in love" knows such a song tears your heart out. No one can sing it like Ronnie Milsap. He sings from his heart and soul. I heard this one on the radio the other day driving around and had to pull over from the tears and pain in my heart. It is the kind of song that leaves the biggest lump in your throat and you are speechless. Thank you Ronnie Milsap for your "God Given Talent" and for a song that breaks my heart.
@ajade1944 I fully agree wih your comment. I have been a complete fan and student of Ronnie Milsap fot 30 years now. And as you may know, Mr. Milsap was born in Jan. 1944, making him the same age as my Mother. I wish him Many more years of health and happiness!
This and Ronnie Milsap's other songs from his "Greatest Hits" cassette are among his best works! This was his 2nd #1, his 1st to stay on top for more than 1 week, and was his 1st to be nominated for any award, also winning a Grammy. It also gave him his 2nd Hot 100 appearance (#95); 1st being "Loving You's a Natural Thing." Ronnie did this before, but this version's better! Another song I can't believe he doesn't still do ("Daydreams About Night Things" comes to mind), for they must be heard!
I love Ronnie Milsap and I love singing country music. I have the voice for it you either have it or don't. My voice is raspy so it sounds better. How sad it is to let someone go or they let go of you. I cried.
Great song, would love to see the video ..... he put his talent into this recording ... Loved it years ago as i do now ....... let's get the video back. .......
i never heard of him until a few weeks ago when my braille teacher had us do reports on blind people and i got him i found alot of amazing info about him he is 66 years old right now adn he has a amzing voice :)
Crazy story! I saw him only once about 25 years ago at Garden State Arts Center in NJ. I had a couple of beers, he came out, started talking, I stood up and yelled "Sing it Ronnie", the whole crowd went wild, and he started what he does best. What an amazing singer he is! Never forget that memory!
Ronnie Milsap is a great entertainer. I saw him in Hiwassee, Georgia at the country music fair about 1978. He explained how he drove his bus up there (he's blind). He said that his manager told him that it was 10 steps to the edge of the stage and started walking towards the edge of the stage which was clearly only seven steps. When he walked about five steps the people on the front row started jumping up to catch him. He stopped at the sixth step. He has a great sense of humor, great show.
I found this song surfing through Rita Cooldge and KRIS'S song .Glad i found this version, i can listen this again again again may for ever. thanks for posting this
I was privileged to see Ronnie live at a fairgrounds in WI when he was just becoming known. He didn't just sing, he was an entertainer. He told jokes, explained the background of some songs, he talked about the people who wrote songs and gave them a personality. He climbed up on the piano and leaped off to land on the floor! I almost peed my pants when he did that. At first the crowd was spooked then they broke into laughter and applause. I was only 40 feet from the stage!! Incredible....
@woozydoll I intend to find out what is necessary to nominate him for the Hall of fame. He absolutely deserves it. His life was not pleasant growing up in Haysville, North Carolina. I understand that his parents turned him over to his grandparents to raise and he went to a school for the blind in North Carolina. He has overcome a lot. One of the best singers and entertainers of all time
@willconow The Country Music Foundation, a group of about 70 people, singers, big shots, dee jays,in Nashville,TN., are the ones who make a decision, nominate, then vote, who goes in the Hall Of Fame. It's pretty political. The person's career, has to be centered in Nashville, and they go by record sales, hits.I'm sure Ronnie, is on the way,but the rate they do it-very long !
@willconow Waylon Jennings, w'd never go to the CMA's, to get an award, because he said it was just a bunch of political junk. Waylon, never went to his"Country Music Hall Of Fame"induction, even though he had diebetes, he still wouldn't have went. Carrie Underwood,Rascal Flatts, will probaly be in the Hall of Fame, before stars like Johnnie Wright(Johnnie & Jack),Bailes Bros.,Stringbean, and others get in.
One of my very favorite Ronnie Milsap tunes; awesome song! Haven't heard it in years! Thanks for posting; keep these wonderful songs comin'! FIVE huge stars!
Ronnie is hands down one of the country greats! Brings me back to moms' T-bird, and 8 track cassettes. Happy to hear this again, after a few years. Still know all the words.
@shawflowers Have all the cases and cases filled to the brim with all those lovely 8-Tracks,youve got it right, music was music and cars were cars,to me it was a 1972 Firebird, and a lot of rides in my brothers GTO,no one sings like Ronnie Milsap, never will!
