Elden Gatwood was the second player in the Cleveland Orchestra and did indeed play almost every FINAL note in phrases. If I had to choose my single favorite oboe recording, it very well might be this. Marc Lifschey was unique.

Every wind player should hear this. Again and again. Apparently the 2nd oboist spelled him off on some of the longer sustained notes, but who cares this is fantastic.
