  • 6:45 eric is fucking right, the good music is dead to the youth :(

  • Where can I find the Skinner Tony Blair episode? Somebody please upload it.

  • 4 people prefer slash

  • @myredpip How can you possibly prefer Slash?

  • @magicelliotth dunnompeople r just stupid

  • @myredpip exactly

  • im sorry about conor

  • Eric Clapton doesn't do many interviews, I'm surprised and disappointed he granted this weasel one. I'm so glad Frank Skinner isn't on TV any more.

  • @gabotheblue He is. On BBC one im pretty sure. And as much as a great guitarist clapton is, he is still an egotistic, racist cunt.

  • @ruideng111 He's not a racist. Most legendary musicians have an ego, though I'm not convinced he's any more guilty of this than other talented musicians. As for Frank Skinner, he had the cheek to have an ego, he's a monumental prat. Skinner is no where near as prominent as he was, I've certainly not seen anything he's on - thank goodness.

  • @gabotheblue Really? Have you read what he said? Amongst others, he uses the phrases "Get the coons out", "get the wogs out", "keep Britain white" and "I'm into racism" - Now I'm no psychologist but THAT, to me, sounds a bit racist. He makes good music, no doubt - I can enjoy someone's music without liking their character, and to me, that tirade makes Clapton unforgivable. At the very least it makes him a massive hypocrite after his cover of I Shot The Sheriff.

  • Man, the host is freaking hilarious for a british guy

  • @Xen8

what do you mean for a british guy?

  • @JoshRobertson142 Stereo-typically speaking, he is pretty funny for an English man

  • @Xen8

still don't know what you mean, i've know all the bad teeth stereotype but Brits not being funny? never heard that one..

  • @JoshRobertson142 Well now you have! Anyways people say that Brits have a very dry sense of humor

  • @Xen8

dry doesn't mean not funny you know? dry is said about irony, sarcasim ect..

  • @Xen8 dry humor is hilarious if you use it right

  • Ok, I'm just going to form my opinion. Eric Clapton is not racist. Don't tell me I'm in denile, because I have proof. 1. Eric uses a Stratocaster because Jimi used one. Most of his influences are black. 2. He said in a 2004 interview that there are still immigrants who are given cheap work for a ghetto home. This leads me to believe he doesn't want ghetto people in england because he is either afraid of them or he's not cool with poverty.

  • All of this fighting.. Come on guys, Eric's the only white guy who ever wanted to be black!

  • @Evan42881

    He and Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • @lizzieceltics Oh ya, forgot about Stevie haha. Weird, he's my pride and joy!

  • GOD THIS GUY IS FUNNY

  • If he thought music was dead back in 99, I'd love to know what he thinks of today's music.

  • @JessicaRisk there was no good bands or legends in 1999. All the best in hip hop was dead and the best rockers was old

  • @fredrikjonas still music was a lot better in 99

  • @lsunationalchamps08 eazy-e , Biggie and 2pac was dead

  • @fredrikjonas I'm not talk about just rap music.. I meant music itself was better then compared to the crappy pop stars that dominate music today

  • @lsunationalchamps08 There were just as many crappy pop bands in the 90s as there are now, britney spears, back street boys, N Sync and much more dominated the scene. The only difference between music of now and the past is that we only listen to good music from the past and forget about all the shitty stuff, where as with current music all the crappy stuff is forced upon us. To put it in otherwords, Great music is timeless, shit isn't.

  • @Mrjamesanonymous Yeah i def agree with you...People say the 70's had the best music ( which I agree) but the 70's also had a lot of shitty music too. However they had so much great music back then that it overshadows the bad..It will be like that a few years from now..Nobody will be hearing Justin Bieber or Brittany spears are other really bad music from this decade

  • with all due respect to the man's talent and work, he's hyped too much...

  • apparently, the host doesn't know hes talking to a god!!

  • @kirama01 eric actually seems pretty humble, i dont think he's the type that really just LOVES to be admired u know?

  • @Freethinker12341

I agree. Eric is very humble, and always constantly underplays his own ability as a player.

  • fuck was that all the way back in 99?? where teh fuck are the years goin man?

  • I had always thought he was american

  • @1337inzock LOL

  • @1337inzock Me too

  • Stop fighting..bunch of tits.. (_._/\_._)

  • Um... the guy hung out with Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley...just sayin'

  • @MerDer1212 You are forgetting about George Harrison.

  • @finder85 it shocks me how few people know about his antics tbh...not your fault...media has no problem pointing out the crazy lefty commies but when it comes to race hate they let it slip...type in "Eric Clapton racist" on here...a speech he made will come up.As recent as 2004 he said he still believes in what he said back then. There is a big piece on Wikipedia about it too. I used to like his music but I can't listen to it anymore, I was so sickened by his words!

  • @LordGuinness I find it impossible for him to be racist seeing as how he was influened by and did so many projects with black blues musicians

  • @petie58

I agree, that is the hypocracy of it...but if you research it you will find it sadly to be true...I was very sad when I found out as well but I think it's unfair that the media don't report something like that but then mock the other extreme

  • @LordGuinness I have seen that speech and he said people misunderstood what he was saying, he was wasted and stoned

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

He was yes but in 2004 in an interview with Uncut, Clapton referred to Enoch Powell as "outrageously brave", and stated that his "feeling about this has not changed"...stoned or not, he still believes what he said back then...and if you listen to the speech, there is NO way you can misunderstand it...he made himself perfectly clear

  • @LordGuinness well for a "racist" he sure worshipped the hell out of the black blues players AND hendrix

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

YES because he is a hypocrite of the lowest kind!!!! One minute he is raving about how amazing Powell is and the next he is all "ohhh I don't know what I am talking about"...sound familiar? BNP voters I say....I'm sorry if it doesn't fit in with your view of Clapton...I was shocked when I found out...but I am not going to pretend he doesn't think like that or make excuses for him...why should we?

  • @LordGuinness what are you getting by bashing a gifted artist?- you dont know what he was thinking. and he was very messed up for many years. the fact that he's alive is amazing in itself. your not gunna change his fans minds by claiming that man youve never met is a racist ...so whats the point.

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

Well I have more reason to belive he is a racist than for you not too.He has publicly made statements which have been taken SO seriously that they contributed towards the foundation "Rock Against Racism".It is important that we name and shame people like him because the media is incredibly one sided and only lets people know what is "comfortable"...that is not what journalism should be about! There are too many celebrities who use their fame to spread stupidity in the world

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

Clapton had a privilaged status and a responsibility he abused...and personally I can think of many more gifted artists than him

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

Oh yeah AND in 2004 he was no longer "messed up" and was still coming out with the same bullshit...face it...he isn't what you thought he was...I am sorry for that but better to know the truth than live in ignorance

  • @LordGuinness he isnt what i thought he was?- i thought he was and always will be a fantastic blues guitar player, one of the pioneers of the guitar. theres nothing wrong with him and you dont know him personally so your wasting your time trying to bash an incredible guitar player...whats next? jimmy page was a homophobe?.,..STV had STDS?...get the fuck over yourself dude. it sucks youll never live up to clapton but saying shit about him wont make that fact any different

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

contradiction in itself, you can claim there is nothing wrong with him with NO evidence...but I can't claim he is a prick with ALL the evidence? (as we both don't know him) This isn't about "living up to someone", a childish remark. There are plenty of musicians a thousand times better than him, he just got famous by being in the circuit at the right time.Seriously your denial symbolizes EVERYTHING that is wrong with society!Like him if you want, he doesn't deserve the hype

  • @o0oLaylaINTHESKYo0o

here no point fighting, agree to disagree...maybe I am getting too worked up over one guy...I hate ALL racists and he just happens to be a famous one...lets leave the poor racists alone...yes yes before you say...you don't think he is :-P

  • I love the candidness of Clapton

  • 6:29 LMAO!! the toy guitar attacks the God! XD

  • my favourite musician and one of my favourite stand up comedians..

  • air guitar is a weird culture on its own

  • @TheKevtrevable lol yeah I mean I've started taking REAL guitar seriously now and been playing for 3 and a half years and Eric Clapton is without a doublt one of my heroes XD

  • clapton is such a cool cat

  • Sooo funny. EC is adorable when he's really cracking up-- those dimples! Air guitar Clapton? Bhaaahaaaa...

  • Eric Clapton GOD ...... Frank Skinner TWAT

  • @loushky619

They're both cool for different reasons :)

  • WHEN YOU LOSE BABY YOUR NEVER THE SAME YOU KIDS R LOSERS WITH NO RESPECT MAYBE ONE DAY U WILL NO WHAT ITS LIKE THE DIE INSIDE HES BORING NO PERSONALITY MORON

  • I think we should prove Eric wrong. Dj's are not musicians. There are still real musicians in the world.

  • OMG, i love Eric Clapton and his music and all, but he is soooooo boring.

Atleast people like slash and santana have a bit of personality.

  • @martenbick1 hmm boring?? i found it intresting actuly

  • @sfocelot yeh the interview is quite interesting, iv read his biography which is also good, i jst mean i think he is a generaly boring person. if you get what i mean

  • @martenbick1 SLASH HAS PERSONALITY? HAHAHAHAHA

  • Spot on Eric, music is dead now..........effing rappers!!

  • DJ's aren't musicians, but Erics right no one actually bother to learn to play no more

  • When the subject of alcohol comes up, Eric Clapton and Frank Skinner are just two AA guys reflecting and speculating. It's fascinating to see them chat about it. Eric really looked genuinely interested in hearing about how Frank deals with his alcoholism recovery.

  • Funniest interview i've seen.

  • "Musicians are over... We're all so gone now... WE'RE DEAD!"

    He's so funny!

  • skinner started out by pointing his old drug habit that he had, i think it's rude i mean this is clapton

  • erics not racist he has been in the past but only because hes been heavily intoxicated which clouds your senses

  • @darthdude1016 Exactly. And if he was racist I doubt he would've done that "Riding With The King" album.

  • @darkmachete

he's definetely not, first clapton blues heroes were black, his longtime bassist is black and he has worked with many black musicians like buddy guy

  • just so many of you know.. eric clapton is one of the reasons there is a rock against racism. for all of you who say you like eric clapton he's pretty racist and ignorant.

  • @SYR81 how can you say hes racist? One in his good friends is Buddy Guy.. which is black and BB King which is also black.

  • @SYR81 Dude, read his biography before you judge. After what he's been through, he probably deserves to get pissed and be stupid. At least he apologized afterwards. Btw I'm a British Indian, the type of guy he was racist against.

  • @BluesRockGuitarist lol go look at his quotes on immigration. He basically admitted he replaced his addictions with racism.

  • I can't get, for the life of me, what Frank says about the band at around 0:40...can any of you get it and let me know?

  • He says "well yours are all in their 20's, they have just done so much drugs they all look like that i imagine".

  • Thanks a lot!

  • He's ARIES probably ascendant LIBRA or GEMINI

  • Now I have sexual intercoarse but....

  • the interviewer made himself the centre of attention, but i must say he was funny, eric seemed amused by him.

  • GUITAR IS DEAD!!!!!!! :(

  • @spiderman7000 i blaim frank T_T

  • @spiderman7000 So lets fix that :)

  • Really great, funny as heck. I've never seen EC so relaxed!!

  • This is a funny interview. Glad I staggered onto it.

  • @DasGoldenBoy stumbled mate... stumbled.

  • You are correct Sir!

  • eric used to play laying on his back? lol I'm glad he saw the funny side to that, cause that is pretty funny..

  • eric is a bit surprised to talk about his drugs past, anyway

  • Very Enjoyable Eric seems comfortable talking to a bloke from his native country Thanks for the video.

  • "I love this interview."

  • 6:42 / 6:44 .. pffoo.. it rips my heart apart because it's true (obviously not for me)

  • i'm a girl and i have an electric guitar, and i can't bloody stand dj's to be honest

  • i'd like to date ya then

  • lol

  • yeah there is a lack of girls like you

isn't it nice to jam with your lover lol

take care, i'm too far anyway

  • fucking djs...

  • Damn! This is a fantastic show!

Not as an interview perhaps, 'cause this is ALL about Skinner, but at least everyone's having a laugh!

    Great!

  • Yes, Skinner was never a great interviewer, but this interview works because he & EC have soo much in common, that he can get away with much more than a 'serious' interviewer could. EC is v funny here, but seems to prefer to give the odd quip rather than dominate. Just listen to his comment at 1:03 ("I've always wanted to be like you") as cutting as his 2 bar riffs with the Bluesbreakers.

  • popular music !! what the fuck they even managed to pop Layla in the intro. Why do all these arse holes want to ignore the blues

  • :) The interviewer is pretty funny.

  • frank skinner

  • Trip's me out that this was ten years ago

  • Tell me about it...it just passed so quickly

  • ROFL

  • I am so glad to see the lighter side of Eric and this guy Skinner is terrific...

  • Eric is soooo cool. Mega chill :)

  • I feel so bad for Eric:(

  • that guy will never die!!!!!!!!!!

  • that map will be plauying his guitar live at the top level till he dies or his fingers fall off

  • i want his interviews with ll cool

  • ooohh, if only i was in franks' position. It's a damnable 10 years ago, and now: eric is dead in 20 years. 16 years old, damn i wish i was born in the 50's, watching how the music became music. Oh well, i don't have to be afraid of atomic bombs anymore(A)

  • Pride of Britain.

  • I couldn't hear it when I listend to his music :P

  • why dont brits sound british when they sing

  • yeah I know I always think about that.

  • For the longest time I thought he was american and then I read he came from England. Makes sense now.

  • Makes sense....yep...because the english are mutch Mature and better than americans, Americans are Very Juevinile...Funny that aint it....The Biggest R&B gods are the biggest serial killers..

  • Comparing nationalities is juvenile. Sweeping generalizations instantly make anything you say ignorant.

  • No nooo. thats not a insult. Thats the truth.

  • remember guys the song Clapton is coming out to was made possible by Duane Allman..

  • need german subtitles pls

  • Great interview.

  • this dude is so fkin funny love him :)

  • ive met both of these guys at west brom matches through the years and both guys are great, their always friendly and never say no to someone chasing an autograph

  • skinner asks embarassing questions, i think eric deserves more respect

  • yea but my guess is they've met before and they aren't as formal with each other

  • Lighten up, Eric looks like he's enjoying himself.

  • i love frank skinner

  • fuck DJs!!

  • Greetings from Canada

    Thanks 4 posting this......

    I love this interview

    Thanks again

  • The guy playing layla in the start, on guitar. He is not that great..

  • I'd rather go for a guy playing sexy fender strat than some Dj guy who's sampled all his music from other people who's stood there spinning disks all night. lets just face it guitar players are more interesting to watch than Djs spinning disks!!! Eric Rocks!!!!! and hes sexy :P

  • I'm only 15 and i love guitar music i hate it when ppl say i shud like dj and rap why? when you have legends like clapton and rapping and dj's are just pure rubbish!

  • yea exactly, im 15 too and all my mates are like 'what you listen to that crap for?' 'its rubbish blah blah', but its really not, it has so much more feel and emotion than anything nowdays

  • I'm 18 and my friends say the same thing haha, except they listen to screamo stuff as well as rap. Especially rap nowadays, which take no talent and means nothing. Tupac, Biggie, early rap I don't mind because they were actually talented and their words had meaning. I just don't understand how someone can't like Hendrix, Clapton, Zeppelin, or Santana or any of those artists. It sounds so good and has SO much emotion.

  • true..great music these guys made

  • so true.

  • in my view you listen to real music. if anything what your mates listen to is rubbish blah blah

  • Ya i agree rap requires no talent and is just based on image to sell music to mindless kids who have never never expeirienced any real music

  • well commercial rap anyway. it does take talent to make a real rap song. and by that i mean a song that actually means something and is musical but it just happens to have rapping in it. a bunch of people i know do this with their guitar and it sounds great.

  • my god you are so right theres nothing better than listening to claptons blues tone are hearing a nice thick fuzzed note of jimi hendrix

  • I thought skinner was sober?

  • When I play air guitar, I actually air strum the right notes.

  • Brilliant!. Eric is an icon and Frank is so down to earth. Rock 'n' roll!

  • "I was always trying to be like you"

    "what d'you mean???"

  • 3 years on heroine, daaaamn. luckily he survived those

  • i would fucking be nervous if i was the guitarist of the band playing there when Eric comes in

  • 6:45

  • 4:39 was great!

  • this is 1999? :O looks like now :O

  • This is great! I can't believe this was broadcast 9 years ago!! Eric doesn't do many talk shows so this is a real treat.

  • This is funny shit. I like how he suggests that he may have just had double vision and have only been with 500 girls.

  • Seemed like there was a lot of techno shit in the 90's, but guitar has come around again. It always does!

  • "Ahh Bloody Hell" xD

  • this is a gr8 interview god, clapton is so awesome!

  • The air guitar made my day :)

  • How can DJ'S get more credit than the guitarists. all dj's do is spin a fucking disc and throw their hands at the camera trying to act like a gangster with the bling. Eric Clapton will last for a long time because he has made his mark, rappers and dj's wont because all they do is rip other artists off.

  • Well said. Fuck Rap. Fuck D.J's.

D.J's and Rappers are into wanking. Guitarists are into fucking.

  • fucking right!

    lets burn rappers and DJ's.

  • the Musician Crusade

  • lol dude's pretty funny

  • He was like "Well I had sexual intercourse but I still..."

What did he mean? Not air guitar but air sex or something like that? Or was he talking about jacking off or busting a nut or whatever you call it?

  • jacking off lol

  • Oh get with it Hannibal, we all knew what he meant...

  • Oops, messed up the line about Spain. Should be:

Ma in Espana, son la mil e tre.

(of course no accent marks anywhere).

  • Madamina, il catalogo e questa. . ./

Ma in Espana, son mil e tre. . .

    Mil e tre. .

(Happened to listen to that just last night -sorry, that's the best transcription I can do, without really knowing Italian).

By the way, I feel totally plastered just watching them interact, they have me so doubled over.

  • This reminds me of peoples' sense of humor in France - there are so many more historical allusions to joke about (such as the gas masks), and people are so genuine when they want to have fun (although, as these two attest to the fact), it usually involves heavy drinking:)

  • I want to sit on the couch next to him and kiss him for hours.

  • Jesus, 500-1000 women! Maybe I still have a chance! (oh, come on, don't censor this). And, by the way Frank, have you ever watched Sarah Chang or Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg play the violin? And what about women's voices as their instruments?

  • great
