I spent five years in school studying graphic design, typography, under the assumption so called clients give two shits about any of that, to land a job in a hip photo studio doing color corrections on bank of america souveneir junk catalogs at $8an hour. We would spend hours running proofs to make sure the red in the nascar bank of america key chain was crimson red or blood red or whatever. Don't sell yourself short. I worked at a high profile digital agency for a year (which I can't name), working on projects of the same size and scale as BS .... And it was exactly as you have described it here. This why I will never work at a large interactive agency again.
