  • my mother would practically swoon over Lou Monte when he was on the Sunday morning Italian radio show hosted by Goomba Joe Rotolo! I think she came from the same neighborhood as Lou Monte. anybody have any recordings of Goomba Joe's show?

  • I remember singing Hey Cumpare, with my Grandma in the 60s to Lou Monte records. (Yeah, I said records...). Always one of my favorites, and Lou was an excellent performer. There was no better heritage to grow up in, than being Italian. (especially in Philly). We had the best food, the best families, (okay, so we fight kinda loud among ourselves), the best music, the prettiest girls, the best craftsman and entrepeneurs. I really miss those days and performers like Lou!
