@lookcloser2000 Hahaha it certainly is, you're right. I had been working on it all afternoon and I originally only recorded it to show a friend, but decided to put it on youtube afterward. I want to eventually post another (better) cover on an acoustic. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
god the chills keep coming as I listen to your magnificent talent. Those last few seconds that you do that fancy, tapping, slapping or whatever it is called, just is pure WOW<----meaning that there are No words I can find, that merit the beautiy of describing your most wonderful gift. <3 to you. I am so glad you said, Hi. One of those lack-of PC skills, to find those gems you just love. See they find their way back at the right time.<3
Wow, thank you very much! :) The problem with the chorus is I played it on a classical guitar, which only has 12 frets to the body, and in the chorus of this song I need to play up to the 14th fret. My hand was stopped by the heel of the neck.
I'm gonna try to cover this on my acoustic sometime in the future, maybe I'll do a better job. Thanks for the nice comment!
I bet you'd pick it up very quickly! I'd love to see you play and sing together some day ;) thanks again for the flattering comment, it really means a lot!
That was intresting to make it sound with nylon. You have a big challenge there ! I would -humbly- say that your fingers know the song, and they have now to meet it (it's probably a question of touching the strings with economy and precision). But most of all, i found you attempt awesome, as i know that nylon is another dimension...
One string is definitely off tune like Streak mentioned on the forums, hahah.
But it's good none-the-less. I haven't heard you in awhile so I guess it makes sense you're getting better already. ( forgiving mistakes since you say it was one take ;> )
I love this song. And I love the city Shanghai. I just chose to write a paper about it in my heestoree class. Bad idea, there was surprisingly little information. :( ANYWAY, good job menino. iz pree.
Great mate, I see you have been hard at work!! For instance, you have figured out the a-part bass line, something I still struggle with. Hope you get the steel string fixed soon. I have bee working on Ebon Coast, drifting, and some originals of my own, but nothing is even near to "upload maturity" at this point. Maybe soon...
Haha, I'd love to see you cover Ebon Coast, it's one of my favorites. Thanks a lot for the support, it means a lot. :) I can't wait to see some new videos from you. Don't be so hard on yourself - I'm sure they're not too far from "upload maturity" ;) Take care, man.
I like your clips ;) They all look very original and it shows how tough it is to play a guitar when it comes to special techniques; Taping on the guitar and moving that right hand up there etc etc...! I've seen a guitar player on YouTube who play em like nothing. Was a bit intimidated by her skill. But I'm sure those skill doesn't come without years of training and the passion to play. If only I can do what you do, I'm good with guitar haha! :)
Thank you so much for the nice comment! You have no idea how much it means coming from someone as talented as yourself ;) One thing that has always impressed me about you is how you take the time to completely perfect the song before you put it on youtube. Your dedication is amazing!
Just turn on recorder and continue to practice for that perfection and ignoring the recorder. :-) AT LEAST one time out of hundreds, you will get a perfection or at least close to satisfaction. ^^ There is no dead line on when you post your next song is how I look at it. But it sure takes a lot of effort, and thus I appreciate your view!
Haha, I often make several attempted recordings before being satisfied with one but I usually lose patience and just give up and upload one that's less than satisfactory. I find your patience especially impressive!

I can use this as my tutorial :D

Little slow on the "chorus" but it was still extremely well done. It sounds pretty damn close if I HAD to rate it on percentage I'd say an easy 80%

Watching this made me want to get off my ass and actually learn how to play the guitar I've got sitting downstairs. Great job.

thanks so much! I did find it strange to play this on nylon but I had fun with it anyway ;) your nice comment means so much to me! take care.

Nylons are so smooth, way to find the edge on them! It's also cool how the bottom string is not capoed.

Good eye! If you're unfamiliar with Andy McKee's stuff, you should check him out ;)
I know my playing isn't anywhere near the quality of yours, so a nice comment coming from you really means a lot! I appreciate it.
Rael0505 2 years ago
Of course, Andy is so awesome, I have never studied his playing! Kottke plays with capos too! All I do is retune!
Keep happening!
