  • Atheism is not the same thing as moral relativism.

  • @nightvidcole

He did not say it was the same. Watch the video and listen to the explanation carefully. His point is that an atheist has no transcendent basis, no fixed moral guidelines outside of his own personal preferences that can change from person to person, and change from day to day. No matter how you try to construct a moral value system, since you have no fixed transcendent moral values; you as a person, or society as a whole, must create right and wrong preferentially for all mankind.

  • @lee3po

Gee whiz lee what a smart guy you are! But you didn't read our comment rules did you? This is not a forum for your antitheistic opinions, so please refrain from lengthy diatribes. You can use your channel for that purpose. However, if you have a question that is on point I'll try to answer it. The exchange in the video took place on a university campus.

  • @DPMosteller Hitler was a christian though. Roman Catholic to be precise.

There is plenty of reliable evidence to back this up though. Hitler being one.

I think you're talking complete nonsense when it comes to "demolishing" philosophy lecturers. I've seen plenty of xtians make this claim and they use the same old arguments.

  • @StargateMunky

If someone you know told you he was a duck, would you believe it? Even though he didn't look, quack, swim or walk like a duck, would you believe it? A real Christian is someone God has transformed into a totally different person with a new heart and love for Jesus Christ. it is not rehabilitation or reformation of a person, but a complete transformation into a new creation. It is 100% an act of God, not someone deciding to be a Christian. That's why you're so confused, and wrong.

  • Ahh the classic no true scotsman fallacy.

So you must be a satanist. Because you walk talk and act EVERYTHING like a xtian. But we all know you were just faking it for a hidden agenda we've yet to uncover right? RIGHT?

It's simple dude just stop calling hitler an atheist. You're lying if you start making excuses for people.

  • @StargateMunky

Thanks for making my point. I feel very sorry for you. You have no hope, it would seem.

  • @StargateMunky

The argument 2+2=4 is an old argument, does that mean it is not valid? Argument theory is a series of assertions, with the truth and validity of last being based on the truth and validity of the others that support it. Sound arguments for God are all around you, but most people like you confuse proof with persuasion. They didn't prove their point if you're not persuaded. That is a logical fallacy an error in logic. You operate on emotions not logic, and choose what to believe.

  • The only way to know Hitler was evil is if there is some kind of god? If you need a god to tell you Hitler was evil you have my pity. But then a quick read of the bible shows us what evil really can be. Exodus 21 and Numbers 31 for starters. Hitler would have loved Numbers 31.

  • @csadler

So, tell us what evil actually is? Define it. I'm not asking for examples, rather a definition.

Keep your pity, you're going to need all you can get someday for elevating yourself to the level of sitting in moral judgment over God. While groveling at His feet in sheer panic and terror, I wouldn't be surprised if He reminded you of this moment.

  • @DPMosteller Evil is the surrender of reason to faith. After that anything is possible.

I have no fear of your imaginary friend. I laugh at the very thought of him. Just like you would fear Zeus or Apollo.

I would never pray to a god whose morality is less than mine. The bible presents a level of morality lower than most civilized countries of today.

Tell me. What god would you pray to had you been born in Mecca? Religion (god) is an accident of birth.

  • @csadler

You reason like a small child, yet you try to present yourself as an intellectual. However, you have not even been able to answer my one simple question: Define evil. Not give examples, but a definition. Like to try again?

  • @DPMosteller I also notice you conveniently did not answer:

"Tell me. What god would you pray to had you been born in Mecca?"

Are you afraid to face the fact that your entire belief system is an accident of birth?

  • @csadler

Atheists always have the same empty soundbites. Yet, when challenged to stand up and actually validate their reasoning they cannot support their statements, worldview, presuppositions. The reason you cannot answer me is that you have no self attesting authority supporting your worldview. I dismantle college professors in lecture halls on this point.

You came to my channel, did not read the comment rules, made some very foolish statements, now support them or go away.

    Define evil.

  • @DPMosteller "I dismantle college professors in lecture halls on this point."

Ok. then define evil...... I'm all ears. So far I've seen nothing from you but assertions.

Define evil. The floor is all yours.

  • @csadler

Thanks for making my point. You might try a sports channel, they may appreciate you more.

  • @DPMosteller So you can't. All talk are you? Talk about making a point.

  • @csadler

Do you even remember how this started? "The only way to know Hitler was evil is if there is some kind of god..." Now define what you're talking about and I'll answer your foolish little assertion, or go play somewhere else.

  • 1.corinthians 1:18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1:19 For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.”

Why discuss? Tried that, but nothing good comes out of it. We should not use our own intelligence by discussing, even though we are right, but only proclaim the cross of Christ.

  • @bambuskaktusa

Well said, and I'm presuppositional and have two websites Simple Apologetics . com and Defending Your Faith . com which are presuppositional; however, Jesus said "Show me a coin" "Which one of you if you had a sheep fall into a ditch" "If a house be divided" and Isaiah 1:18 "Come, let us reason." There is a time and place for both evidence and reason along with proclamation. If for no other reason than to defend God and shut the mouths of the obstreperous as John Calvin put it.

  • I am an atheist and of course their are many thing I believe are morally wrong no matter how much it is sugared up. Most of the stories in the bible are immoral to me. God murdering most of the world with drowning, commanding and giving laws on how to treat a slave rather than just commanding that there be no slavery, commanding his chosen people to kill whole cities and keeping the young virgin girls for themselves, burning people accused of witchcraft and on and on.

  • @AssilemakaMelissa *There....... I hate when I do that.

  • @DPMosteller I hate when I type "Their" when I mean "There" (or the other way around) It is a common mistake but one that I do so often as to aggravate me. It may not be the biggest mistake I make when typing but it is the one I make the most and I would think I would have broken myself from this mistake a long time ago.

  • @AssilemakaMelissa

Ah, a perfectionist. I do the same thing with your and you're all the time.

In regards to your point, maybe tomorrow you'll wake up and feel differently, since you have absolutely no basis (a fixed moral standard) for your reasoning other than your personal preference.

  • @DPMosteller No way am I a perfectionist. I may indeed change my mind about some things being wrong that I once thought was right and vice versa but to just wake up & change is silly. I try to reflect & reason & be logical about my oppinions. I do not always succeed since I am human. My point is that atheists can not all be put into one box and labeled with the same ingredients, attributes or thoughts. Just as believers can not. Even though it seems doing this makes most humans more comfortable

  • @AssilemakaMelissa

Perfectionist or not, you're (got that one right) too hard on yourself.

My point on change is that your decisions are purely subjective and not based on an objective unchanging standard for all people, at all time, in all places. People are not controlled by logic or morality, they're controlled mainly by their emotions and preferences; then they scramble to make some argument (that is hopefully rational and logical) to justify their actions. So is life on the third planet.
