Nice to see that the motion of this gadget attempts to recreate the sensation that would be felt by the pilot during maneuvers instead of just making motions that merely follow the attitude of the aircraft (which would feel very unrealistic).
Men....It´s amazin produts, did you finish it? What do you intend to do, sold it in parts or complet? let me know, the software stuff will work with a big servo to sach an extent that carry on a people?
Tnx. I am now building the full scale platform with 6 powerful and fast linear actuators (60cm length,7m/sec velocity) The platform will be able to manage 350Kgr with 1g. The cost is much cheaper than the other commercial platforms(about 1/5 of the price) including the motor drivers, 3X27" monitors, 2 fast PCs etc. Considering that it is a real 6dof simulator and not just a game, I think the cost is very low. When I'll finish it, I'll be ready to tell more about it.
Can you please tell a little more about those actuators? Are these a cheap (and slow) ones with motors changed? What is the specification of a motors? Thanks!
The actuators aren't cheap, because are industrial actuators. The setup that I described to usa3217 cost about 47.000€, including all the electrical, the actuators, the sensors, the mechanical parts made from steel&aluminium, PCs, 3 monitor+1 for instruments, seat, yoke, pedals & throttle control etc. It is a veeery fast platform with much much power, so we can use it for a racing simulator too.
Nice job. How many knowledge of electronics one should have to make this. I'm a total noob on electronics and circuit boards, but I want to create a 2 DOFflight sim. Just a one person thing in a not so big room.
What Microcontroller are you using? I am interested in making a similar system big enough for one person, designed for racing simulators. I am looking to use the Parallax Propeller. It will probably be 4DOF. How much math is involved for the geometry? It seemed to react quickly, given the calculations it must be a pretty quick processor! WTG that thing is really awesome.
It's custom made software and not for sale yet. It extracts the accelerations and the velocities from FSX and converts them into motion cues on 6 axis, so the pilot on the platform feels the same forces as the pilot on the plane.
This is a very early version. You may watch the latest version here:

Hi planmix
are you using the Flight Simulator HLA interface to do it ?
i'm trying to develope the some thing as well but it is a bt complicated haha
i'm using the Phidget Advanced Servo 8-Motor, your software is compatible with this harware?
if yes, can you sell a copy of your software, i'm trying to develope a 6 axis platform for flight simulator x, just for fun
thanks

Try with simple servo controller

Very good Planmix! excelente job!
what is the name of software that shows in 40 seconds?
what is the function of this software?

Hi Planmix and Thanos,
that looks great. Nice to see that there is some progress.
It would look more realistic when you change the carton with a little plastic model kit plane ;-)
kindest regards
