There should be a mod where you play as an arab and toss away that american content. You start breaking free from Abu Ghraib and later becoming a commando. The american campaign will show you as freedom warrior against nuke obssessed US govt' even siding with arabs. However, when you seize your city it's nuked and back again arab.
I like the idea of an insurgency campaign. However I dislike the idea of game with propagandistic interpreation. Thinking of concepting such a game Im inspired by the good old strategy game Command & Conquer. Now C&C Tiberian Dawn is pretty much a game with a feeling corruption. On one side there is GDI, some sort of UN army. On the other side is the Brotherhood of Nod, some sort of global insurgency network. The interesting thing in the storytelling game is the following:
While in the GDI campagin you pretty much get a "You're with the good guys feeling", the Nod campaign however shows that the GDI is full of corruption, heating-up civil wars in some countries African as well as being involved into massacres. The GDI lost it's overall positive feeling with the Nod campaign and makes at the same time understandable how Nod could even gain continuing existance. For a game with good guy insurgents, I would suggest some sort of story, in which...
...a local people of a city becomes victim of very corrupt troop stationed. The people become angered and establish a militia, in which you are. At the same time there is also a campaing from the oppossing side, in which you are a sort of Western soldier. You are in a fine and good troop without corruption, but at the same time, you sort of sense that other troops are corrupt and commiting crimes. Sort of giving you the feeling that there are deeper reasons for all the hate and violence.
The whole Call of Duty series became a propaganda tool for the US Army. Just look at it. Non of the games from the series allow you to play the Germans, Japanese or Insurgents and Russians.
You should say resistive militias not insurgents. Non of them pledged allegiance to the US or its allies. Their stance was clear from day 1 "yankee pigs go home".
You can play as the Russians in CoD, CoD United Offensive, CoD2, and CoD World at War...
I'd like to know how the game is a propaganda tool for the US Army when you spend most of the game playing as a British SAS commando, and the US _MARINE_ you play as dies without glory in a nuclear inferno.
