  • Handguns in Canada for self defense?????? check out this vid maybe it could stop stuff like this from happening .

  • I guess you fare better in Alberta than Eastern Canada, a guy shot a handgun into the ground to scare off two guys who were firebombing his house and garage while shouting "You're gonna die"... and the guy was charged by the rcmp!

  • I'm proud of this guy

  • TO ALL CANADIANS PLEASE ALLOW CONCEALED CARRY ! IM CANADIAN AND I DONT WANT ANYONE TO JEOPARDIZE MY LIFE OR MY FAMILY

  • @AfrikaaBombeetza Hell yeah. I'm with you

  • Just recently purchased my Sig for "Recreation use" and to protect my Family when "Seconds" count and the Police will be there in minutes to help out...???

  • but he lost his firearm license and his guns were taken away

  • Its about time Canadians are able to defend themselves and their families. We should not be made criminals protecting what we hold dear to us from the true criminals.

  • THIS IS AWSOME!!

  • Too bad he didn't have a 12 gauge

  • Fact: Under The Firearms Act of 1995 self- defence is not a legitmate reason for owning a firearm.... even though Canadians have the Constitutional Right to self-defence, the governemnt has simply bypassed that right with this act, stop tyranny in Canada and write to your MP to destroy the unconstitutional firearms act.

  • @zazszdzfzgzhzjzkzlzx will that be enough tho? just whining to politicians that may or may not give a shit, and are working in a rigged system were nothing really seems to get better for the people. we need to do more

  • @wheatgrinder762by54 yeah i hear ya, but its important to make sure that we give as good an effort as we can to peacefully change things, force is only to be used once every civilized option has been exhausted.

  • power to the people

we shouldnt be arrested or charged with self deffence

  • try this in quebec.

  • @Muphlon ... for sure in Montreal the poor store owner would have ended up in jail... but I still have hopes for the rest of my province...

About 20 years ago, in the town next to mine, a store owner actually engaged in a high speed pursuit with robbers and shot one of them in the back... he got slapped on the wrist, 50$ for using a firearm inside city limits and obligation to keep the peace for 3 years... but that was 20 years ago...

  • For every story like this one, I'm sure there are five titled

''Retard get's shot and killed trying to pull gun on robbers, should have complied.''

  • Good on you Mr. Galloway!

  • Awesome good for you bit of advice though get a 40 cal more stopping power than the 9mm .All the best :-)

  • ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!! EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENSE! Im sure the Libtards and NDP are having nightmares now hehehe

  • we all know what would happen if this were in toronto

  • Awesome job! The fact that they even have to specify that he won't be charged is kind of sad, that should just be assumed. Nobody who is defending their home, business or family should ever be charged.

  • The store owner isn't getting charged with something?!.. Holy shit, you sure this is in Canada?

  • @zdrux No doubt eh.

    must be a misprint!

  • @zdrux its people like you that ruin this country. Everyone has a right to self defense and you think because he defended himself and his family from deadly force he should be punished? shame on you.

  • @212driller I was being sarcastic.. I was expecting him to be arrested in Canada for defending himself.

  • @zdrux haha sorry man I get defensive when hippies rag on this kind of stuff.

  • Im shocked that he didnt get charged with unsafe storage. That is the FA catchall for all lawabiding citizens.

  • Kuddos to you Mr. Shopkeeper!!

    You deserve that award

  • THIS is why we should never ban guns. If he had to wait on cops, he and his wife would probably be dead. Instead he had his own means of defense and used it, saving not only his life and the life of his wife, but saving his money and property.

Gun control nuts always fail to tell you that guns are used more often to STOP crime than to commit it.

  • @HumbleWillis yep they don't tell you those things because that wouldn't fit their plan. thy only talk about things that help them

  • Two things: Spend a little time at the range. Get a 1911-A.

  • see.

    he got a reward

when u do this in holland you go to jail for 90 years+you must pay the family of the criminal

  • @SniperSurkov wow, seriously ?

  • @WinkyMaeve yes

  • thats not a berreta ...its an iraqi tariq 9mm xD

  • We should start a petition, anyone an attorney well versed on the laws, experienced gun owner...etc? I'm not a gun owner, but I'm in full support of gun ownership & the right to defense & even would advocate an open carry/conceal carry option for ALL Canadians.

Petitions do work & we could change the guns laws in Canada if enough of us voice our dissatisfaction with current, asinine gun laws.

We could start a petition at the site below. Anyone?

w w w (dot) the petition site (dot) com

  • and these bleeding hearts say legally owned guns held by properly trained people dont save lives.we need laws that allow us to take the fight to the criminals instead of the other way around.

  • I thought civilians could not have guns in Canada? Ey! Lol

  • Wendy Kukier is the devil.

  • I think more canadians should be willing to defend themselves like this man did, even without a gun but another weapon. Criminals will not come back to rob you, or threaten your life if they are dead, or paralysed. Actually that is what should happen to murderers spending the rest of their life in prison the guards should handicap them so thery can not walk again seeing as they will not have much use for walking in prison.

  • that wasnt a picture of a beretta, news shouldnt cover things they know nothing about..... good on this guy, give him a million medals,. canada needs to wake the F@ck up! we shouldnt be afraid of defending ourselves and have less rights than than the shit head law breakers. victims should not be portrayed as criminals!

  • I bet those robbers weren't expecting the owner to have a gun.

  • The second moral of this story is, have a spare magazine. Ammo is good.

  • ive met this guy got his guns taken away for awhile but he has them back now

  • So we can shoot them after all!

  • In America this happens with a greater degree of frequency. However unlike our Canadian brothers the American news media portray the victim as the thug and the thug as the victim. Unlike the American news media the Canadian news media get's it right.

  • People who shoot criminals should be awarded all the time everywhere.

  • I love how the TV lady says that his "livelihood" was at stake and doesn't mention the fact that the robbers had a gun in his wife's face.

  • this is great, good job mr. Galloway, good to see the good guys catching a break

  • If I could, I would give him a bravery award myself in person.

  • Good for him. I'm so sick of hearing of Canadians being arrested and charged for defending themselves and their property.

  • @mrjew no shit, stupid liberals think that the lives of criminals is more important than the rights of citizens.

  • 0:05 "with his livelihood at stake"

nope, his LIFE was at stake. kthx

  • good for him! but he needs to work on his aim that thief should be dead!

  • It's one of the worst things about this country that we don't have the right to self defense. Canadians need to stand up for it but most are too ignorant to realize the need.

  • Lost the gun vote 151 to 153 dam,

LET'S BEAT THEM NEXT VOTING SESSION!

  • If only he killed both of the robbers...

  • what the hell is wrong with showing a little brutality against a brutal person who has a gun in front of your wife's face? i hate how people say that the guy with the gun shouldnt have one. It's like people are trying to stick up for the robber. Im glad that guy was paralyzed

  • I posted my views (as a former soldier) on a law enforcement forum concerning the right that every law-abiding Canadian citizen should have to self-defence against armed criminals. The hostility and abuse I received from "professional" police officers was shocking. They just do not want anyone else other than themselves to carry a firearm. Its time Canadians stood up and loudly demand the right to armed self-defence against criminals who KNOW we are defenceless.

  • That is NOT a Beretta.

  • @smartbomb33 It is a Beretta M1951 or variant possibly a "Tariq". These were the mainstay 9mm Berettas before the model 90 two's came along. Quite old, but a Beretta none the less.

  • @doacarnage It's a Tariq. It's a Beretta clone... but not a Beretta.

  • and what would have happened if one of those rounds hit an innocent bystander?

  • @wcresponder What if, what if, what if. God people in this country make me sick. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO DEFEND OURSELVES. If some scumbag decides to point a gun at you, or your loved ones you have every right to take him out. What if he didn't defend himself? Would you rather his wife get shot in the face? You can't predict what a robber is thinking. I for one will not assume he isn't going to hurt me as long as I do what he says. Criminals are unpredictable.

  • @BrandonEclipse if you go on this line of thinking and on one hand you are totally right, but lets just say we tell cops to just open fire every time they come across someone with a gun or a violent act. the collateral damage would be staggering. how much practice did this store owner have I believe it was pure luck that he hit anything.

most of the time the bad guy is just hoping your to scared to act. I have face a gun and disarmed it with out having to shoot anyone.

  • @wcresponder I'm glad you were able to disarm your assailant without getting harmed. That is always the best way to go. Unfortunately that is not always possible. If somebody decides to stick a gun in my face, or at my loved ones they have made a poor decision. They are 100% responsible for their actions and I would use the amount of force necessary to diffuse the situation. If I have to shoot him, so be it. He decided to pull the gun, so he will deal with the consequences.

  • @wcresponder

Why lucky? Most gun owners do fire their weapons.

  • @appleinmyass

How many do combat shooting? How often do they go to a range? how many and how often do they attend shooting clinics? Its sad to say most operate/own their guns like fire extinguishers, have it....hope not use it.. and don't show it.

  • Great shooting. It's too bad he didn't hit both of them and have a magical bullet somehow hit the getaway driver.

  • Canadians don't need to bitch about, you need to do something about it, I herd theres a bill out there to outlaw your handguns, don't let that happen.

  • Good for him. I'm glad to see a fellow Canadian defending himself.

  • Every one should do the same...just common sense, why are we even taking about?

  • Good to see that even outside the US, people are still allowed to survive. If only he was allowed to carry on his person, he could have ended it much sooner.

  • alright!

  • This case gives me a little bit of hope for self defense rights in Canada.

  • At 1:00 the narrator says he had to "unlock and load" his weapon. Is it law in Canada that he could not carry his weapon loaded?

  • @beerbrewer737

It is law here. We are a bit backwards when it comes to self-defence. Handguns must be stored unloaded in a locked gun safe with an additional lock preventing operation. It makes it harder to use one for self-defence, but it is still faster than waiting for the police to come put you in a body-bag.

  • @dougfromcanada

Thanks for clearing that up. Question: is it hard for the average (law abiding) citizen to buy a weapon in Canada? Does one need to be licensed?

  • @beerbrewer737 you need a pal pesesion acuszation certificit. theres two types non restricted and restricted. Non restricted=rifles and shotguns restricted=handguns.

  • @viper10011 I am not sure what a "pal pesesion acuszation certificit" but I bet it's not easy to get.

  • @beerbrewer737 well i got my non-restricted and it was easy to get I just took a 2 day course and took the test and I got 100 percent however all you need to pass is 80 percent.

  • @viper10011 Good! Can you explain what's the difference between a restricted and a nonrestricted. Also is if National law or can each Province have its own law.. Thanks!

  • @beerbrewer737 non-restricted is rifles or shotguns over 18 inches in length. Restricted is hand guns. Basically restricted firearms have way harsher laws on them I don't know all the laws but I do know you can only shoot a hand gun at a certified range. Rifles and shotguns you can go hunting with and shoot outside of ranges. Basically you can shoot them anywhere as long as its not a no shooting area.

  • @beerbrewer737 well the firarms act is federal. However there are some laws different in ever province when it comes to hunting. I know in Bc when you have a firearm in your vehicle your not alowed to have ammunition attached to the firearms or have your firearm loaded. In alberta I think (im not 100 percent sure) that your alowed to have your firearm loaded in a vehicle as long as a bullet is not in the chamber. However when you get out of your vehicle in bc thats when you load it up.

  • Hell yeah, this is how its done.

Guns for all decent human beings! There are monsters out there, lets not kid ourselves.

  • When seconds count...the police are just minutes away.

  • haha! The "man" that got shot is now in a wheelchair after taking a round to his spine. Too bad it didn't kill him. Good for him defending himself, and his property.

  • This is a perfect story! Honest Canadian people deserve the right to firearms for this particular reason!

  • we should be seeing more of this in toronto

  • Like the quote says "Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six". Give this man a medal. You know there is a problem with society when criminals have civil rights & honest people are treated like criminals for defending themselves.

  • echo......!!!!!!!

  • yes! I only wish he shot them both.

they should make a coin with this guy's face on it.

  • Good for him, we need more people like him who are willing to defend themselves against douchebag criminals

  • You are quite incorrect, fcarabat. Though I suspect you will very happy to learn that. You are, indeed, allowed to defend yourself with force. If you are in fear of imminent death or grievous bodily harm, you may use up to lethal force to preserve life and limb. Please read sections 32-42 of the Canadian Criminal Code for the law on defence of self and defence of dwelling.

You do NOT have to be a victim -- make sure you choose to defend yourself and those under your care. Do the right thing.

  • sorry alastair :P just practice! anyway, if it were any other person defending their property or lives, we would have seen the person in jail by now. good for dennis, but doesnt mean that we can defend ourselves legally, unless you have a lot of gold or diamonds in your home or place of business ;) sorry guys to piss on your parade.

  • fcarabat, despite the BS that the liberals in Canada have been spewing about self defence not being a right, you can defend yourself and your property with, up and including, lethal force. So if a person enters your home you can force him out physically. If he presents a threat to you and your family and you believe your lives to be in danger you can use lethal force to stop him. You are your own first line of defence. Go ahead. Call 911. You'll be dead before the police get there.

  • @ cobalt545 - Agreed 100% I've been robbed 2x's in my life & been threatened with knives 2x's. Had alot of friends I grew up with murdered, the police WILL NOT get there in time! I've seen people shot & all the cops did was chalk the body & lay out the yellow tape. People need to stop depending on others for their survival. To all the anti-gun people, when you're assaulted, raped, have someone break into your house I guarantee you will be terrified & no one will be there to help you!

  • its a bit of a shame that they only use chalk in hollywood hey dickhead, although i do agree with the right to carry a firearm.

  • awesome, good for him! he defended himself and his property. criminals should FEAR the honest people like dennis, and people should have a right to defend themselves using any means. good for him!

  • Well said I couldn't have said it better myself... :)

  • lol ya, swing at a guy with gun. i hope i don't see you in obituaries one day.

  • But that is the point Alastair.....Most Canadians have been taken in by the LIE that you cannot defend yourself.

We are being turned into a nation of sheep.

  • I do agree with you.

  • If i could start a revolution and find X amount of people to join me i would against the government.

  • You have seen "signs" to many times......

    You keep your bat.

    I will stick with firarms.

  • It is too bad that all of the empiracle evidence to date proves you wrong.

Besides handguns serve many many purposes.

  • You don't seem to understand at all alastair. Guns are for protection of your own life, not for heroics or futile attempts to protect an insured bank's money.

As for the bat, seriously. When is the last time you swung away at someone with the serious intent to kill you? Because the behavior you are describing of carelessly employing a bat as a weapon on anything less than deadly assault is not only bizarre. It is actually criminal.

  • We keep them out of the wrong hands by ensuring that the "right hands" have the right to defend themselves from individuals that wish to do others harm. Criminals will always try to harm others regardless of law. That is what makes them criminals.Gun Laws do not disarm criminals it only serves to insure that victims are unable to be anything but victims.

  • i swear to god, in RI the store owner would be facing charges. Totally fucked up here in the NE-liberals out of control.

  • The only problem is that his gun had to first be unlocked.

  • Good on ya Dennis! I woulda done the same thing! Bust a cap in their asses, muthafucka!!!!

  • God speed brother. I'd give him another award if I could. If only every situation like that in our country could go off without a hitch with only the bad guy being charged...

  • thanks for watchen robbie

  • kullwarrior, Walmart up here does not sell 9mm ammo as far as i know, but almost all the gunshops stock it.

  • good fight the good fight

  • Oh yeah, I would have done the same thing. Glad they are keeping it real in Canada, in the states I am afraid they would have tried to charge the store owner.

  • thanks for caring man

  • Right on bro, he should be commended!

  • It is an extreme and terrible thing to have to shoot someone to save your life. But in Canada you have the right to defend yourself and your family. Hand guns are a reasonable tool to exercise this right. It is better that the bad guys get shot than the good guys.

  • sadly you cant use it to justify for getting a RPAL (pistol License) Since 1978 if I recall correct. Im surprise the jewelry owner was not charged, normally they wouldve charge him for crap like shooting within city limits, storing a loading firearm, threatening and assault with weapon on a person etc. for those Americans, be glad you have the right to self defense, we only have a right to remain as victim, if we give up that, we're a criminal.

  • Beautiful! Good to see someone stand up for himself and his family.

  • Good for him, wish i could be there for his award.

  • Good for him!

    p.s. I'm Canadian and I own a 9mm. I also own several ar-15's.

  • About time that Canadians stopped being victims and stood up to low lifes like these.

And 9mm's are very much legal in Canada. I have 2 myself....

  • nope

  • Quit reading the Toronto Sun.

  • They probably will be if the Liberals ever get a majority government again.

  • nope, its a very common firearm caliber, goto wal-mart you can probably buy them there....if you have a license.
