Three minutes of the same content repeated over and over again. These houses this, these houses that. How about showing us what the apartments look like inside?
Shanghai is one of the best places I have ever been to. I worked there on a few consulting engagements. I found the people in the office, malls, restaurants, and even passersby to be very friendly. I will always be happy to return and see the latest developments in Shanghai.
It really isn't as bad as it seems. The video's right, it is a little crowded, but it only generates more camaraderie unlike the individual houses in America. Two different cultures, both have their pros and cons.
I wonder how many new Chinese blg. can withstand a 7 earthquake? It seems like their blg. fall like dominos. I`d prefer an old friendly blg. like this than a new flashy but flimsy one.
I have been in shanghai i went to alot alot of places there try to visit alot of places and the most of then wasnt poor places nice video but maybe just a little bit what can i say just try to make look shanghai as is not as good as we think which is a lie cause Shanghai is for me the best city of the world
@Daviaz12 What are you talking about? That was beautiful. The place may look old but the people living there doesn't look poor. They look pretty clean and healthy to me.
These poorer parts of shanghai are where the real "shanghainese" live. We rich, non shanghainese people dont live in such garbage and have moved onto living in 1 of the skyscrapers in the shanghai skyline.
Music/title didn't match the content, I don't know why you would chose to bring the whole thing down by playing sad slow music in the background. It's not some sad deplorable village, it's a thriving and active apartment complex.
I think maybe you need to look at the brighter side of life instead of forcing things to be dramatic, this video should have been up lifting not a bring me down
poor people? mind me, i ve been living in Shanghai over twenty years, i was born and raised up there. The Building is fantastic, only problem is it houses two many people than it was designed for. This is the fault of the government. But that does not mean people living in it are poor or unhappy. My greatest memory is being living in that kind of building during my childhood.
@bayonet2 I miss very much that type of life living in this socially closely knitted environment with very enriched childhood and partial adulthood memory, although I have been living in North America for almost 20 years now.
i'll beat you !

But this *is* The Guardian we're on about here. Not the greatest known "cheer me up" newspaper.
I totally agree with your points though. Looks like a thriving place wth a great community.

That doesnt mean theyre unhappy though. Some people love their land, or their home, no matter how poor they are or how little money they have.

Nice images. English voice-over is a big turn-off: you should have used sub-titles.
