Ether functional group: R-O-R ...the R's are the organic groups. Ethyl ether, CH3CH2-O-CH2CH3 is also known as diethyl ether. You cannot have just one organic group attached to the oxygen. Yes, they are the same.
im working with this stuff in biology and studying it in chemistry, when exposed to oxygen (in the air) it forms peroxides that react violently hense the explosion. and also the bottle i use is supposed to be checked before opening, and used within 2 years... we've had it since 04 and its never been checked... nothing like the threat of that (explosion in the vid) to make you work just that little bit harder...
Was the boom from the starting load ?? How was it ignitetd ? This does not belong to science & technology (as stated above), as long as no details are given .
Might as well be: Boom from the starting explosive charge, ether only making the flames afterwards ...
lol was this legal?

Ah shit, How do I keep this from happening to my liter bottles of Ether?
KrypticGuy666 1 year ago
@KrypticGuy666 Store over potassium hydroxide to prevent production of diethyl peroxide, keep in a cool dry place, and minimise ignition sources.

@un4m3d4 It doesn't matter what kind of ether it is. The title of your video is a lie.

ants version of an H bomb

This is not an ether explosion. The ether was ignited by an explosive.
Very misleading!

Better opportunities exist for ethyl ether than simply blowing it up.
But who doesn't enjoy a big boom every once in a while.

Hey thanks for clarifying that. I'm a hazmat specialist so I'm pretty sure I know how this works.

Shame on those who didn't post this accurately !
