Leona shot herself in the foot when she released Run. No song she has recorded since has been able to match up to that.

Same thing happened to Whitney Houston. After the mega success of I will always love you, her sales dried up as every song she did since was not a patch on what people remembered her for. Best advise I can give to any popstar, is write your own songs and to leave the cover versions to your live shows.

Always leave your fans wanting more, & never peak too soon into your career

Would it not be better for leona to post a video message instead asking for fans to donate the full 75p or £1.25 direct to the charity instead?

The C.D comes out tomorrow, and if you buy that, all the money goes to Hopefield, but yes, if you download from ITunes, only a small proportion goes to the chariry...so buy the C.D!! And Leona isn't losing sales, she's one of the biggest singers in the world - first female artist in over 25 years to top the U.S charts, remember?! &Leona does charity songs because she has a kind heart!

Her last single may have hit the top 5, but the sales were low and it fell out of the top 40 very shortly after the first week of it's release. That's pretty disapointing for a brand new single by a "global superstar" who's come back after two years. Don't get me wrong, she is vocally skilled (exluding her low-notes), but I agree with msav1976. The X Factor platform does seem to be Leona's career safety net--one she uses very often...

@pbaxmc2 err didn't syco brand that single a flop after it only spent a petty 6 weeks on the official uk top 40 chart? And it was launched on the Syco TV show 'red or black' and snippets thrown in all through the x factor audition process of the show.

All that hype telling everyone the album was out in November and it was gonna be a change of direction full of upbeat songs, then Syco announce that the album has been put back to March due to poor sales of her comeback single.

cont. Plus the legal challenge cost Syco money, so with the track lacking any longevity, minimal radio air time, that song lost money for the record company. hence - a flop.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but since 2006 when leona won, this is her 4th christmas cover version? A moment like this, Run, Stop crying your heart out, and now Hurt.

and she's only released 8 singles to date!

SUBO and Robson & Jerome (other syco artists) have more credibility and longevity! Just my opinion!

Leona is quickly earning a reputation for becoming the queen of depression. The lyrics, the performance all dull. but she does have a great vocal range before the haterz comments come flying my way.

Please someone tell leona that coz of the world we live in with crippling finances and wot not, we need songs to help us escape and to let pur hair down. to have a good time. There will be thousands that take this song to heart and they'll be throwing themsleves off buildings.
