  • Good night sweet prince.

  • watching this on my new macbook pro, sweet

  • R.I.P.

  • It still looks better than most PCs out there.

  • It's ten years ago and it still looks an amazing laptop. There are laptops today that are far from that design.

  • i think this was the best keynote in his life

  • RIP Steve. It was such a shock to hear of your passing but you have added a great deal to our technological advancement as one of the century's great visionaries.

  • "1GHz G4, this thing screams"

  • Wow steve job was fat in the past...*__*

  • @killerboypoor not fat but a healthy weight

  • good old 2003

  • Watching this 8 years on it sounds laughable

  • these things can run snow Leopard, while notebooks of that time can't run W7

  • @angelusp777 no they can't, snow leopard requires an intel architecture, these computers are all powered by powerpc.

  • does anyone know where i can find the video of steve jobs taking the imac g4 and pentium 3 and having them do some speed test? it was soemthign about photoshop, inspector gadget, and windows 2000.

  • Steve Jobs looks healthy back then lol

  • @TanKimchi how is that funny?

  • watched on an iMac G4 17"

  • he was clearly at the top of his game

  • when was it renamed to macbook?

  • @Ishcoa 2006/2007

  • @Ishcoa 2006/2007

they changed it, when they stooped using the powerpc processor to intel.

  • Funny thing is that Emagic was later acquired by Apple.

  • there was so much jizz on those seats man.. that was awesome

  • master salesman indeed!

  • "Look at it, look at it" ... he is a riot, and the best pitchman ..

  • i remember this! it was like two months after they upgraded the15 inch powerbooks...

  • I wish that apple would go back to the visionaries they were.

Like when everything that Apple sold was the best, now they're just updating everything, they need a killer new product that allows them to enter a new market.

I think Apple also recognises this, and that's why I think we'll see the Apple tablet next year (January maybe).

  • well now that it has been released I gotta say the iPad is very unimpressive and even disappointing...it really is nothing more than a jumbo-sized iPod Touch....so idk :\

  • @FaAFAco its not what it looks like. trust me. i own one. i bought it just to try it and im selling it in europe but i really wish i wasnt. the powerbook as the ipad is a product that will get better over time but even though it doesnt have everything its just right for every day use. its so simple and easy to use. its really something you have to try to know how good it is

  • @TheDarxo DUDE , you were right O.o

  • "Someday, notebook will even outsell desktops" - Steve Jobs 2003

    Wow, was he right.

  • 0:43 - is that goldblum speaking?

  • He´s just so often right... scary... :)

  • @apersaud I still have a desktop bro.

  • god thers nothing this man doesnt think of (besides FireWire 400; sorry geeks)

  • steve jobs didn't know how right he was.

  • And now Apple notebooks sales represent over 70% of their computer sales.

  • Hardware and technically wise, Steve Jobs AND Apple are psychic visionaries. When the whole computer industry was finally starting to speed up with x86 (i.e. 32-bit), Apple went ahead with PowerPC, a 32-bit chip that had all the hardware mappings for the future 64-bit coming up. And don't forget about Airport, because they basically kickstarted wireless with introducing it in notebooks and an affordable wireless Base Station, too.

  • hmm, the iPhone popular, the iPod is ultra popular, even Macs control 90% of computers on college campuses and computers which are over the 1,000 dollar range. Oh and Steve was right about the G5, it would have been a tremendous hit, it just had one fatal flaw, cooling issues, thats why they went intel, plus IBM who make PowerPC were making promises they just couldn't keep. Like they told Apple they'd be at 3Ghz, they only made it to 2.7Ghz

  • your a typical PC user, using swearing & intimidation to get your point across, is that all you can do, because macs are better

  • You're probably the one who should go die. The world doesn't need anymore angry little douchebags filled with hate.

  • Wow. What a crazy comment! They are just computers man! COMPUTERS! Nothing worth calling someone something like that. Again, all I have to say is... "wow."

  • As much as I don't like Apple, Steve Jobs is undoubtedly one of the greatest entrepreneurs in the history of mankind. He knows what people want even before they (or any of the competition) know they want it.

  • thats a size of a regular laptop today

  • apple advances quickly

  • they went from lots of aluminum pieces to a unibody

  • absolutely flawless presentation... Historic.

  • thank you!!

  • omg, he was so right at 1:37

  • The man is clearly 5 years ahead of his time.

  • I'd love for Steve to refer back to this keynote this Tuesday at the special notebook event keynote :)

Funny he should say, in 2003, that the Powerbook G4 was the best notebook even two years after it was released...because here we are about 7 years later with pretty much the same design, and its still the best designed notebook on the market. Thats a true testament to the design genius of Apple and Jonathan Ive.

  • Hang on, why is it 16:10 and not 16:9 as we usually think of widescreen?

  • Not sure, but if you see the new acers, they have a 16:9 screen. 16:10 screen is taller, less wide, but a 16:9 screen is widder, but less tall.

  • check the details most are now 16:10 if you do the math but odly listed at 16:9. I dont understand why but its somthing i have noticed

  • 16:10 is widely becoming the standard for widescreen as that aspect ratio gives people more vertical real estate which you really do miss in widescreen.

    peace

    Brian

  • Cool. I do realise that the figures that catch on are often not technically accurate. Like 4 : 3 or 2.35 : 1. Case in point - don't afficianados point out that the iPhone 3G is really using HSDPA which the industry doesn't quite consider as the older 3G standard? Personally I feel it's okay to call it 3G.

  • What is the song used in the promo for the Titanium PowerBook at the beginning of this video? It's a really cool song.

  • 17in. in a notebook is about as far as screens on laptopps are going to get! However, i am looking into a 12in....

  • dell launched a 20inch. i think thats too much on a portable

  • Haha its 2008 and backlit keyboards are still uncommon in competitor's laptops

  • But do these laptops have the option of turning off the backlighing?

  • my 2005 PowerBook G4 certainly does. You can adjust brightness or turn it off completely. And offcourse it's done in Apple simplicity.

  • Ah, well then, they're ok because if I'm watching a movie I don't wanna see anything but the screen... A backlit keyboard would distract my attention.

  • "It's is the most amazing product we have ever made."

This was BEFORE iPhone, right? :)

  • yeh

  • Macworld 2003

  • does the mac book pro have the backlight keyboard?

  • ya it does.

  • Thank for telling me!

  • Yeah. I have a 17" MPB.

  • late on a response ohh well

  • yes

  • u were never even in this conversation ohh well

  • Hell my mom was about to send me to a shrnk when i told her i was about to spend 1900$ on a macbook pro. But guess what i did..... i bought one and i love it

  • What is a shrnk, anyways congrats on the MBP

  • I meant shrink

  • What the hell do you mean by "shrink" ???

  • its another term for Psychologist she wanted to send me to Psychologist because she felt i was crazy to spend so much money on a computer get it now ??

  • Now I get, I only spent 750$ on my Mac Mini

  • nice we have 10 of those in my school libary now

  • I wish my school had Macs in them, the closet to any good Macs is some old iMac G3 the rest are ratty old Windows 2000 shit.

  • at my school there is a Mac in evry room. we even get our own macs :) same with my elementry school too

  • you lucky bastard lol

  • As well as the MacBook Air

  • Macs aren't more expensive...that's a complete fallacy.

  • yeah, I wish I could present my software that good and even entertaining.

  • man this guy is good in this speeches things... incredible

  • I'm in love with this guy.

  • You know what? I'm getting an apple. My computer crashes so much. Damn it. & if I don't like the apple, if it acts just as worst as my pc, I'm going back.

  • or just forget all that and get a mac

  • That's completely wrong. Compare any Apple with any other computer and you'll see that Apple's are more expensive because they don't put crappy parts in them. Plus they last longer too.

  • Well let's see...

AVG Free Edition keeps downloading updates at 308 bytes per second when I KNOW my internet connection is 1Mbit. Zone Alarm slows the computer down SO MUCH that it takes exactly 6 minutes to get from the time I push the power button, to the time I'm able to use the computer. Ad aware and Peer guardian not needed on a Mac and Firefox works on Mac too.

    Shut up daftbrain

  • AVG is the best anti virus software out there and my speeds have been fine (and given that it has been download over 55 million times, I think its fine for most).

Zone Alarm is slow until you set which programs are allowed/not allowed, after that its fine (if problems continue use Comodos).

Peer guardian is very much needed, especially when doing downloads (legit or unlegit) because you are the most vulnerable when downloading. Ad aware takes care of all the spam that caught through.

  • Firefox sucks...Safari is WAAAAAAY better.

  • ....PFFFFFFT HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!

  • Agreed, Nothing to take away from firefox, but the new safari is awesome, and really fast!

  • Firefox FTW

Firefox 3 is just as fast, if not faster :D

    And its open source!

  • if you are on a mac firefox is a major waste of time, way too heavyweight for quick browsing is one of its problems.

  • Have you tried the latest Firefox 4 beta, you might like it!

The program launchs just as fast as safari and renders pages crazy fast! I wouldn't call it a heavyweight browser, its pretty light :)

Also, those memory issues seem to have gone in 3 :)

  • I'm not really a fan of betas, when they release firefox 3 completely, I'll check it out.

  • Look

  • This is the RDF on full power mode.

  • but on the bright note i think Steve Jobs is a vegan..that's totally awesome

  • matrika777:

He is. He's also a very spiritual person, who was going to become a Monk over in Asia, but Someone, I forget the name , convinced him to become a businessman. This is after he tries to find enlightenment in India.

  • this is just a promo from the owner..and poor worker bees are supposed to eat off his lap..soulless

  • When I heard that this laptop was out, I looked into it and that's what convinced me to switch from my Windows desktop to a Mac. I am still using that 17" laptop and it feels a little strange looking at my computer in the presentation.

  • Steve jobs is the best...I really love his ability to get the audience excited...

  • THANKS FOR THE POST! GO APPLE!

  • its simple and elegant.. NICE!! VERY NICE!! i hope ill have one this christmas!

  • you idiot! thats really old now and it's very bad get the macbook pro

  • i was just appreciating the idea..anyways thanks for you kind words..

  • sorry, i didn't know

  • in the words of Jobs:

    iI iWill iRule iThe iWorld!!

  • Apple = iCopy

  • iCopy? = what are u talking about?

  • he's saying apple copies other companies. iCopy means apple-"i copy"

  • apple don't copy off any company i think your mistaken its microsoft and dell what copy off apple, and also apple is the best ever. apple put a lot of thought and time in to there products microsoft just slap anything togehther and think it will do.

  • Please tell me you're not serious Rjnicko. Look at Apple's Time Machine for starters.

  • everyone copies everyone just face it. its just MS that copies the most =)

  • well you have a small point there put apple has been around the longest

  • compared to dell and microsoft yes. but if you compare to IBM which has been around since 1922, apple is a fairly new company. (but still the best)

  • i never liked IBM i love apple

  • also hp, which has been around since 1918
