I have a kambun shinto katana with some damage from bone. It starts at the edge, and scrapes the whole way up to the shinogi. Bone isn't a terribly huge problem.

Probably not, it may be difficult to cut through a whole human torso (not that i'd know!) but seeing what these things do to bamboo i assume bone wouldn't present too much of a problem
