There was a table-top miniatures game published in 2005 by Mongoose Games. It was based on this incarnation of SST but also incorporated the heavy suits from the book and the light armour from the movies. Unfortunately it's no longer available.

Nah...think about it, the bugs in the movie (And the book) Took quite a bit of a beating to take down, most bugs in the series, movie and book have a hard shell or a lack of weak points, though a knife might come in handy one in a thousand times it certainly wouldn't serve enough of a purpose to make standard

both Halo and StarCraft seem like they were inspired by the Starship Troopers fiction.

e.g.: Halo; You have the Spartan Super-soldiers, and the more lightly-armored marines, just like in S-T, where you have the Mobile Infantry (in powered armor), and the Light Troopers (the guys in the movies)

e.g.: StarCraft; the whole thing is a 3-way war b/w races that closely mirror S-T's Federation, Bugs, and Skinnies.

I think it's worth letting everyone know that Roughnecks is more of an adaptation of the book than the major movie was

there were no "light troopers" in the book, it was all the Mobile Infantry, which is what the "Light Troopers" of the movie were called. Also, in the book, they were deployed as one man teams. Further, Roughnecks is a different storyline from the major movie, and closer to the book, but with less social commentary. And it's not like Halo, because most Spartans were dead.

I know that most of the Spartans in Halo were dead; what I meant was that the Spartans share certain similarities w/ the Mobile Infantry Troopers, such as the armor, and being "the best of the best."
