The velocity is dictated by how hard to swing the nunchuk and wiimote. It's actually surprisingly sensitive.

My only complaint is no song arrangement/sequencer or whatever its called.. to make your own songs/patterns/loops like in mario paint and standard music making software. Then this would be epic!

aparently not theres two modes

one: the same as every other one where you just flail your arms around and magical the instrument plays

and then theres the one where you use the board fro bass and you have to press the Z button for example to do the snare or w/e

basically it sounds REALLY hard at frist btu im sure later on it will be like second nature

for anyone who knows anything about digital music etc the thing that sucks about the wii drums (from experience) is that each piece of the kit has 1 single audio track to go with it so every time u hit the high hat it sounds exactly the same kinda like old keyboard sounds from the mid 80s...

if u want it for casual fun it might be worth it , but anyone thinking their getting anything approximating a real virtual drum kit are gonna be dissapointed. esepcially considering how much it is
