@oelergodt No science flourished. Most of the stories you hear about the church suppressing science are lies. The University system was built during the "dark ages".
This guy arbitrarily gives Christianity credit for all kinds of modern advancements and evolution in civilization, but oopsie! He just forgot that the bible sanctioned slavery! Epic fail.
@sufisis The Jews were enslaved, thanks to Josephs' brothers who sold him into it. Slavery existed way before the bible was in written form. and there were so many slaves during the roman empire it was almost common as having a pet in the US. Not dealing with the issue of slavery would be akin to not mentioning cell phones or cars today. If one of Jewish faith bought a slave (i.e. buying his debt) he had to free him after 7 yrs. so, in typical liberal fashion, you state a 1/2 truth.
@midwesttex not a "liberal". Btw, the bible also sanctions other atrocities such as sexual relations between a father and daughters (Lot). But if you find comfort in some of the better passages, then good for you. I like the "Golden Rule" which was unfortunately booed by the audience in South Carolina after Ron Paul mentioned it as a guide for our foreign policy.
If Jesus was never born, there would have been no Muhammad , because he wouldn't have known where to copy his lies. OOOh, thats a lot on your head isnt it
US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”
Oh I forgot. No Christianity means no persecution against science means no Dark ages. That means that we would actually be about another 1000 years advanced on our current technologies.
@HobbsO The Gothic cathedral and the expansion of water wheel infrastructure, both of which took place during the "Dark Ages" you clearly know jack shit about, were just two advancements that took place in the Christian West. And that was BEFORE the Renaissance even.
There is a reason the scientific method was developed in the Christian West and nowhere else.
@Halo4Lyf The Renaissance is WAY after the Dark Ages you idiot. The Gothic period is about 200 years AFTER the end of the Dark Ages. The water wheel was originally Greek so you're just stupid. On the other hand things like flushing toilets, large western cities, organized warfare, bathing, architecture, agriculture, Greek fire, Roman cement, The Library of Alexandria to name a few. The Renaissance was an age of REDISCOVERY of LOST TECHNOLOGIES you idiot.
@HobbsO Yes, I know the water wheel was Greek, hence why I wrote "expansion" and not "creation." It came into widespread usage in the Western world during the Dark Ages. You're splitting hairs and willfully misreading in order to keep your argument afloat because you hate the Gospel that fucking much.
It's cute, really, because I was right where you were once.
@Halo4Lyf It's cute really because you completely evaded all of the technologies I described that had to be rediscovered. Irrigated toilets ffs. So how about you ANSWER MY QUESTION! Hey, why didn't you mention the heavy plough that was created in the Dark Ages...wait...no. Also Roman. Sorry. How about "what have the Roman's ever done for us" then look at how much of that DIDN'T exist in the Dark Ages: /watch?v=ExWfh6sGyso
All that and you balance your argument on a water wheel.
@HobbsO And your argument is that Christianity is somehow uniquely anti-science, which you failed to make. Technological knowledge imploded due to the Dark Ages, which were caused by the political collapse of the Western Roman Empire and then the economic collapse of the same 300 years later due to Viking looting of the cities and Islamic piracy strangling commerce on the Mediterranean, and what little was held onto was preserved by the monastic orders.
@Halo4Lyf Yes but before that the Roman Catholic Church strangled scientists from posting scientific theories. With that new found technology they wouldn't all be dead. Tech saving 101 WOOHOO! Anyway you can't argue that religion ever helped science
@HobbsO I assume you're referring to Galileo and his house arrest? You know that a lot of the "common knowledge" surrounding that event is total bullshit, right?
@Halo4Lyf it's funny how everyone hates you right now. In fact the hate you're throwing out makes you either a troll or just thick as two short planks. Either way people just don't care what you have to say any more.
Electricity was discovered, not invented. It was discovered over 4000 years ago and researched by many European researchers. It would still exist today. Christmas is pagan, Santa was originally Odin and many religions celebrate December 25th as is it 3 days after winter solstice when the Sun (not son) begins to rise again. (No not a coincidence, Christianity is just founded on other religions and star signs). Look up Horus the Egyptian God. Pre-Jesus and yet so similar.
Hospitals existed in Rome BC, Western civilization, also Romans. Real European stability only existed after WWII. Trial by jury, Greek BC. Printing press...give me a break. The Chinese, non-christian printing press, nuff said. Slavery was abolished by the Spanish BEFORE Christians disproved of it. The whole USA thing is just you talking out of your arse. Vaccinations, Louis Pasteur. Russia and Europe have shuttles. Microscopes, 1590, Netherlands. Internet, ARPANET, Mark I at NPL in the UK 1960s.
Furthermore, slavery is justified in the Bible, and the confederacy used religious arguments to justify the keeping of slaves. Of course Christianity was not the reason that slave owners kept slaves, but it was often used as a justification. The overturning of slavery was relatively secular and very little religious justification was used.
@Imthewalrus06 Slavery isn't justified in the Bible. It is *acknowledged* in the Bible as an economic reality, but it is never declared explicitly good or bad. If you'd like to actually cite chapter and verse to try and prove me wrong, then feel free to do so.
@Halo4Lyf " Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ." Ephesians 6:5. Also: 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Luke 12:47-48, Exodus 21:20-21, Exodus 21:7-11, Exodus 21:2-6, Leviticus 25:44-46. Need I list more?
@Imthewalrus06 And Ephesians 6:9 says, "And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that He who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with Him." It wasn't endorsing slavery, you knit, it was telling Christians how to conduct themselves in that situation. Ditto the Tim verse, and the Luke verse was Christ speaking in parable, you dishonest douche.
@Halo4Lyf If God is the ultimate authority on morality, wouldn't it be easier just to say, "Masters don't keep slaves, it's wrong to own another human being as property"
And it seems like you're the one with all the hate, I'm not the one wielding petty insults at your intelligence or character.
I have no hate for God. That would be like hating Santa Claus or Zeus. What I have contempt for is all of that malice that has been done in the name of something so obviously man made as religion.
@Imthewalrus06 You warranted the insults. Earn and you will receive. You were either ignorant as to the context and meaning of those scriptures or you were willfully ignoring them. If the first, then I apologize. If the second, my "fuck you" still stands.
@Halo4Lyf Because owning another human being is fine as long as you're not terrible to them. Right. Thanks for confirming to me how twisted religion can make people. And atheists don't hate God - that would be like hating unicorns or leprechauns. We just don't believe in its existence.
@CookieMcWeaksauce BAHAHA! Oh, how cute, it thinks that today's prima face revulsion at slavery is anything other than a conceit of the modern industrial age. Yes, I will be even more up front about that: I don't think it's wrong, on it's face, to own another human being. Because Biblical slavery was a damn sight better than how it was practiced in the rest of the world at the time, and better than how it IS practiced in most of the rest of the world today.
@Halo4Lyf The only reason you've given in support of Biblical slavery is that it's better than other slavery. Akin to saying "I support killing people with a guns, because it's better than killing them with a knife; there's less pain before they die." You are twisted for condoning the act at all.
Regardless of one's religious beliefs, the suggestion that Jesus' birth is responsible for all of the modern marvels in our society is just false (and honestly downright offensive considering all religion has done to hinder science). The Greek empire was really the birth of western civilization - the first western democracy - which took place long before Christianity. To suggest that all people were heathens before Jesus is horribly insulting and offensive to the great cultures of our past.
ftr.. why dont you own the effects as well as your products? :-) or will that make you look too not christian? or was it your "christ" forgot to save his
own system when he inspired you success politics?
This... is... The most hilarious video on youtube. I love your satire... What? This was a real rant? He meant what he said? God help us all. Please, for the love of god, pick up an ancient history text book and read it. Wait a sec... everybody knows christian's don't read. Otherwise they wouldn't be christian.
"Christianity foundation for creative innovation". WOAH, dude don't spill. Galileo was sliced by the Catholic Church, Darwin. If Jesus was never born, there will be no Crusade.
If Jesus had never been Born, there won't be any Catholic church, there won't be crusade, the Dark ages, wouldn't have existed, If Jesus was never born, (did i say born i mean made up) there will be no ignorance, and no stupidity.
Knocked another one out of the park, dude! Funny how the upload date is in February. (at least 30 days after posting on website, I get it.) And I just found it on December 20th.
Your idea is a bad ripoff of "It's a Wonderful Life"! Once again, you are so VERY wrong, but with your ego you can't understand the damage that your teaching does.
Lord GOD forgive this person, for he knows NOT what damage he does...
Yeah, why don't you explain how a dead guy on wooden sticks somehow emits mysterious waves that will have ANY impact on anybody else's life? Invisible sin, invisible solution, hey, that sounds like the Body Thetans the Scientologists go on about! What helped us was the Age of Enlightenment, when Catholic/Protestant wars weakened religion SO MUCH that reason and secularism came up the middle. We collectively decided we would not be enslaved by religion any more.
Yeah, that's nonsense. The Roman Empire would not have weakened from Christian wimpiness, and we would be living in Roman provinces with names adapted from Indian names, like Mississippia or Irocuoia or Tesherocia (the land of the Cherokees). They would be gone, of course, probably treated worse under Roman colonization than Christian, I give you that. But civilization would have a big jump ahead away from Christian ignorance. The steam engine of a Roman design would be invented in 500 AD.
...You would have a reliable train network by 700 AD and probably a high-speed magnetic-levitation train system by 1000 AD, all across Europe and beyond. I say these dates in numbers you can understand, but the Romans would add 753 to the years, from the founding of Rome in 753 BC. So we are now 2764 ab Urbe condita (a.u.c.) First man on the Moon, probably around 969 AD -- although a slave was impacted on the Moon in a test shot 2 years earlier!
Just wondering how many times you were asked for citations to help credit what comes out of your mouth sometimes? Some things I agree with but this would have to be one of the times where I got to look at Coughlan666
hey there. love the show, big fan. I just wanted to ask about the Christian Dark Ages. Which put a huge stunt in scientific growth. I don't mean to start an argument. Just was wondering if you did have a response to that.
@VikingAxStudios The Catholic Church (whether you like the Church or not) invented the Scientific Method, most Scientific discoveries were done by priests, monks, or plain Catholics. If someone wants to scream GALILEO
@6MemoryOfForever9 in my face... maybe you should pick a book and read WHY the Church held up Galileo (he was a very close friend of the pope btw, so the pope had a very good reason to arrest him, which is not what everybody thinks it is. Seriously, read about it, and then if you have more questions, ask me about it. The Big Bang theory : Catholic Priest, LeMaitre....... Father of Genetics: Catholic Monk, Mendel...... Universities, Hospitals, etc... all started by the Catholic Church.
@6MemoryOfForever9 I mentioned Hospitals and Universities to show the scientific, educational, and medicinal aspect of the Church, if I want to list what the Catholic Church invented, we would never stop. :D Peace.
Again, whether you think the Catholic Church is "the whore of babylon", I don't care, She did offer the world all of that, which is veeeeeeery far from what people would like to think of the Middle Ages.
First of all, if you've taken any BASIC college courses in rhetoric, you'll see that you're taking the slippery slope fallacy TO THE EXTREME. Not only that, but you're assuming that because Christianity exists, Christ must have been born, and though that may be a logical statement to uneducated fucktards such as yourself, you must realize that there is little, if any, evidence to support his birth.
@portero36 Julio-Claudian Histories, Josephus, Pliny, Eusebius, Peter's house, and even the Talmud disagree with you. However, that's neither here, nor there. In this case, the slippery slope was set up naturally, as one innovation led to another, and the majority - if not the totality, - of those innovations originated among Christians. The majority of scientific advancements were proposed by Christians, and logic itself had it's start in Christian institutions.
@portero36 I almost forgot the Letter from Pontius Pilate to Tiberias Caesar. All that evidence may be disputed, but it's never been refuted conclusively. The same argument is occasionally used by proponents of evolution, when the evidence is either dubious or ambiguous.
Christian Propaganda. If not for christianity, the Native Americans, The Africans, The Filipinos, the mexicans..........would have never been killed or raped. Fuck all abrahamic religions
@WorldMilitia Yes but if you try and tell them that they will throw you out of their "church" aka "Tithing Temple" aka "It's all about the money after we tell a 4 minute story about Jesus". Christianity is not a bad religion, but Christians are some of the worst people you will ever meet.
Lol without Christianity earth would look like hell? soooo by that logic, before Jesus earth looked like hell? I'm pretty sure it was better than today. No overpopulation, simple life, you're hungry? go cook up some meat from your last kill. Go to bathroom, drink water, simple. This guy seriously needs to be examined
@landmine21 It was hell. Civilizations couldn't sustain themselves, people had freedoms for short periods of time before their government crumbled and everyone was poverty stricken. Overpopulation is the product of time, not religion. You're hungry? Well then you're fucked because without a structured government you can't leave your property without the fear that it will be taken, so you can't go get food.
@LetReasonPrevail1 Haha I saw you posting on another of his videos. I assume you are doing the same as me? Watching his videos in disbelief if this guy is serious?
Every culture that experiences solstices and equinoxes celebrates them in some way. And science, technology, law, order, and civilization were all projects that were started long before a certain preacher in Judea had a cult that got all expansion-happy. In fact, it was Christians who burned the great library of Alexandria, setting science in Europe and the Near East back centuries . . . and yet without Jesus, there would be no Internet? Curiouser and curiouser. . . By which I mean bullshit.
-You attribute Jesus as somehow indispensable in the development of all later technology and human rights. Yet many of these developments were, at the time, a departure from the knowledge and values of the Church. Those ideas were their thinkers' own, and often came about despite the church, not because of it.
-There's no way to tell how Western history would be changed. For all we know, it could have turned out better than it did. It certainly wasn't an ideal history.
If Jesus was never born, we might not have a televisions or the internet. We might have cell phones that can last a month on a single charge. A better government system, already explored all a eight planets and set up sustainable colonies on two of them. No fossil fuels, electric cars, no Holocaust, no WWII, can grow a vinyeyard of grapes during the winter, and eradication of aids and and a cure for cancer.
In my multiple readings of the bible, I must have skipped over the parts where Jesus eliminated Smallpox and Rhinderpest from the world using vaccines, and I must have accidently ripped out the pages where he invented cars and space shuttles. I find your lack of understanding reality... disturbing...
@sergiomats Actually, it says "Without Jesus, there would be no space shuttles, no microscopes, no internet..." and then goes on to say it would be a "Might makes right, pagan nightmare". Of course, it doesn't go on to explain why Jesus is required for these things, but again, thats where my problem lies. I guess you must have missed that part. That is of course, unless you just ASSUME that people can't invent things without Jesus (Even though they did for thousands of years before hewas "born")
I can't believe this moron actually thinks it is only because of jesus that things like human sacrifice and cannibalism do not exist now. There are entire civilizations that existed before, during and after jesus that do not allow Human sacrifice or cannibalism. The democratic system of government actually predates Christ as well. You are an idiot.
Roman society was civilized, much more than early Christian civilization. It was a beacon of light in a dark world and it collapsed thanks in part to the Christians, so you can NEVER make the claim that Christianity brought us civilization. It was one of the many reasons that civilization collapsed, and it took us centuries of fighting Christian orthodoxy to have all those technologies and ideas which you attribute to your religion.
If Jesus was never born, and thus Christianity never existed, Roman civilization might not have collapsed and we would not have had to spend centuries rebuilding civilization to a level that just barely approached the same level of technology a thousand years later. All that art, those writings, the music, would not have been burned and looted by Vandals and we would be a thousand or so years more technologically advanced, probably living on the moon and Mars right now.
Go to this site: Spiritlessons. com . For the record.
Jesus is alive and still speaks to people who are righteous. Not all people anyway. The illuminati is against the gospel. I advise you never to believe them (if u are a christian) No matter how convincing they seem. The devil is a liar and the Father of it.
@MrTexashorn17 A christian is someone that believes Jesus Christ. The important question is, are u doing his will. Ask the gay, lebian, murderers, liars, evil people. They are all christians. But they wont enter Heaven if Jesus meets them. nd for u to call someone idiot, are u righteous. 1 Timothy 4:12 , 1 Peter 1:15
>>A christian is someone that believes Jesus Christ. The important question is, are u doing his will.
No one ever does "his" will, they do their own will and dress it up as "god's will" to gain authority. "He" has no will anyway, since he does not exist any longer, he died two thousand years ago.
@kDest Even David who killed Goliath knew Jesus and his victory over satan. Can you see satan? And then you expect to see Jesus, in this world. I pity you and those that dont accept Jesus. They will go down to hell, and will realise by themselves that Jesus is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. The Everlasting One who humbled himself to come to this world. And when his work was completed, he went back to his throne. All will stand before him to be judged. He is the Truth.
You think we wouldn't have motor cars, no phone, no electricity if jesus was never born? This stuff came from an innovative nation created after a need for religious freedom. This video makes no sense. At all. Remember the crusades? And I love when you mention the Almighty jesus invented cars you bring up a toyota. Which for you republicans, is not christian.
Do you know how many people have died in this world? And you expect me to believe without a shred of evidence that he sacrificed himself for our sins? The only reason america exists is because people wanted religious freedom and here you are pushing anti muslim propaganda. You contradict yourself more then the bible. No abolition of slavery? First of all, slavery exists pretty much everywhere, and american slavery was started by a christian.
a load of bollox tbh, the Romans didn't convert to christianity until much later on and did fine innovating new ideas without it, as did the various "barbarian" nations they conquered like the Germanics. Some societies like the greeks, as great as they were, were too stuck into tradition but even they contributed alot as did the likes of the pagans. You can see alot of these cultures in us today from before christianity started. Christianity has held us back in as many ways as moving us forward
christmas was a pagan celebration , the christians couldnt get rid of it and concocted jesus was born in december , jesus was a pisces, so born in march, how come he is born in dec, stupid fakes, the ppl who defame jesus are the christians themself, he never preeached animalkilling
@hinduempire who the fuck cares if Christmas was "once a pagan celebration", now it's Christian. Stuff Ganesha's trunk up your ass, you cow-dung worshipper and stfu.
@Nachtjager who cares only retarded ppl like you who likes to ignore the truth do not care i never blashpheme christianity, but you are on alert to bark like a pig on you tube, oink oink
If Jesus hadn't of been born and Muhammad hadn't been born scientific breakthroughs would of become more wide spread, as it is often said Columbus would be discovering the moon not America. Its is because of religion that man kind has not evolved as much as it has so without jesus it would of been different but much better. Without Muhammad the world would of progressed so far by now.
@Nachtjager religion hadst actually lead to any discoveries nor has it set replaced fiction (religion) with reason. It did not set the proper frame work for scientific community. Religion slowed down science by executing anyone who disagreed with the church or the caliphate. Thats why the entire Muslim population has made less scientific discoveries then Harvard University. That is why Africa has not progressed its because countries like England have taken science and reason over fiction.
@Tavor21Actual actually i can give a specific thing where scripture led to a specific discovery. Matthew Fontaine Maury was inspired to search for and discovered the "paths of the sea" by the eighth verse of Psalm 8 of which speaks of "whatsoever walketh through the paths of the sea," For more detail on this just google: Matthew Fontaine Maury "Pathfinder Of Sea" Psalms 8
@EquineDreams actually i can correct u on that Mathew fontaine Maury was not helped by the bible instead he was helped by the experiences of man kind mainly fish man and travelling who traveled the seas before him and had noticed some of them arrived shorter then expected. Currents had been known for centuries but they hadnt been mapped. By saying it proves the bible right it doesnt it just proves that the bible had the same knowledge as the people at the time making it uneducated in this age
without Jesus would be no inquisition either,i guess he decided it would be good to leave that one little fact, wonder if this guy even knows that the chistmas tree is pagan symbol as is the kind of hat the pope wears.
@nachtjager Just because they're Christian nations doesn't mean that's the reason for their success. What I was trying to point out is the reason for these inventions is not christ but science. Which all religions actively oppose by encouraging their followers to accept revelation and authority of ancient texts over empirical evidence.
And last but not least. You say Arabs Stole from the Greeks Romans. Well, then doesn't that mean Christians stole from the Greeks and Romans also??? Greeks where pagan, and the Roman where not Christian until the very end of their empire (which rapidly collapse afterward do to diverse causes). I mean, shouldnt a well read chrisitan now that Romans exectued Jesus and feed christians to the lions?? Christians deserve less credit than Arabs for preserving said cultures, even if it wasnt their own.
@jejljejl2 Christians were Greek and Roman themselves, dumbass, they weren't foreigners as muslims from other continents are. The last Caesar ruled till 475AD, Constantine I converted to Christianity around 330AD, hardly the "very end" of the Roman Empire, besides the Eastern part did well until the13th century and survived until 1453 when it was overrun by turks.
So we owe space exploration to the atheists as the USSR sent a monkey to space, and did the USSR just poof out of thin air? Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, the US are nations with Christian foundations, no Christ no Christian nations no space shuttles no internet, no nothing.
@jonathanfater What do they have to do with christianity? And i think the religion, including
but not limited to Christianity restricts relgion. They teach creationism over evolution in
faith school around the world and in Kenya bring about the banning of ancient skulls as proof of human evolution. That seems pretty obstructive to me.
apart from the incarnation of Christ i would like to point out that if Jesus didn't exist at all
then nothing at all would exist Colossians 1:16-17 "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."
No Jesus. No Christianity. No dark middle ages of Christian opression of natural science in favour of theology (how many angels can dance on top of a needle? and that type of sort). Much faster scientific advancement, perhaps hundreds of years of extra progress.
So we would be living in mars now.
DO I beleive in what I just said? No. I would have to be a brainwashed IDIOT to follow such stupid reasoning.
@jejljejl2 Modern tech has been created by nations with Christian foundations, no Christianity means those nations wouldn't have existed, European knowledge spread over by Jesuit monks would have never reached Japan or China. As the chinese believed themselves perfect, "islamic" knowledge stolen from Roman, Greek and Persian sources was smothered by a hardline interpretation of islam, and India bleeded out due to the islamic invasion, there would be no mars dweling for you, ignoramus.
@Nachtjager If anything religion in both the Arab and Christian kingdom where detrimental to science . Christian kingdoms, after the collapse of the Roman empire didnt do anything special really. Remember that this people where either A) formers Romans whom had their empire collapse upon itself B) the same ppl the Romans used to call barbarians. So during that period of time it was the Arabs who took the torch of the ancient greeks and the romans, and pass it to the christian kingdoms later on,
@jejljejl2 Christian Kingdoms like that of Castile and Aragon, later known as Spain, turned into global empires and brought civilization to entire continents. Arabs didn't took "the torch" in Spain it was the Syrian Umayyads, in Persia it was Aryans. Muslims didn't gave knowledge for free either, and you ignore that the Roman Empire survived until the 15th century when Renaisance kicked in thanks to the Popes and scholars scaping Constantinople after the turkish conquest.
This is hilarious. Jesus had nothing to do with Western civilization. The ideas of Western Civilization have basis not in the principles of Jesus, but rather in the principles of Greek Philosophers such as Democritus, Plato, and Aristotle among others. Jesus is born and the World that inherited remains a shitty place especially for anyone accused of being a witch while at the world that inherited Aristotle (Persia) was enjoying the beginning of experimental medicine and other important fields.
@Nachtjager Yeah and China only existed until it was conquered by the mongols in 1271.
Just like China, Persia is a place not a nation. It doesn't matter who holds power there at any particular moment, that area will always be Persia. Experimental medicine was invented by Avicenna who was a Persian in 1025.
@ExSaint1379 Besides. Those nations would still have existed, and with out the draconian Christian law that where imposed by the vatican (way worse and more strict than Sharia law during the same period in the califates) a kingdom similar to the Greeks or Romans would have spring somewhere in between 500 a.d 1200 a.d. So thats a big chunk of time lost. Remember that ppl got burned for saying the earth orbited the sun as late as the 1400. Jews where killed for using soap, and that sort of thing
@ExSaint1379 Here is a list of people who where pagan and still produce 80% of the knowladge used by both CHRISTIANS and ARABS. Demostrating than the people who created the foundation for the western world where not christians.
Besides its funny you should accuse the ARABS for having smothered Greek, Roman, and Persian sources WHEN CHRISTIANISM WIPED THEM OUT ENTIRELY!!!!!!!!!!
@jejljejl2 Didn't know that the Greeks/Romans, who turned themselves to Christianity and ran a thousand years old Christian Empire who spawned things like the Renaisance, wiped themselves out; and that it was Christians who destroyed the Zoroastrian Persian Sassanid Empire in the 7th century XD. FYI, Arabs besieged Constantinople while mohammed's corpse was still warm and also sacked St. Peter's, Turks destroyed the Christian Eastern Roman Empire and Arab muslims destroyed Zoroastrian Persia.
actually the christains as a whole have slowed down the process of technology wed be better of wihout it. but know one will ever really know for sure

Who REALLY runs our world?
US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”

oneyedo 2 months ago
Oh I forgot. No Christianity means no persecution against science means no Dark ages. That means that we would actually be about another 1000 years advanced on our current technologies.
HobbsO 2 months ago
@HobbsO The Gothic cathedral and the expansion of water wheel infrastructure, both of which took place during the "Dark Ages" you clearly know jack shit about, were just two advancements that took place in the Christian West. And that was BEFORE the Renaissance even.
There is a reason the scientific method was developed in the Christian West and nowhere else.
Halo4Lyf 2 months ago
@Halo4Lyf The Renaissance is WAY after the Dark Ages you idiot. The Gothic period is about 200 years AFTER the end of the Dark Ages. The water wheel was originally Greek so you're just stupid. On the other hand things like flushing toilets, large western cities, organized warfare, bathing, architecture, agriculture, Greek fire, Roman cement, The Library of Alexandria to name a few. The Renaissance was an age of REDISCOVERY of LOST TECHNOLOGIES you idiot.
HobbsO 2 months ago
@HobbsO Yes, I know the water wheel was Greek, hence why I wrote "expansion" and not "creation." It came into widespread usage in the Western world during the Dark Ages. You're splitting hairs and willfully misreading in order to keep your argument afloat because you hate the Gospel that fucking much.
It's cute, really, because I was right where you were once.
Halo4Lyf 2 months ago
@Halo4Lyf It's cute really because you completely evaded all of the technologies I described that had to be rediscovered. Irrigated toilets ffs. So how about you ANSWER MY QUESTION! Hey, why didn't you mention the heavy plough that was created in the Dark Ages...wait...no. Also Roman. Sorry. How about "what have the Roman's ever done for us" then look at how much of that DIDN'T exist in the Dark Ages: /watch?v=ExWfh6sGyso
All that and you balance your argument on a water wheel.
HobbsO 2 months ago
@HobbsO And your argument is that Christianity is somehow uniquely anti-science, which you failed to make. Technological knowledge imploded due to the Dark Ages, which were caused by the political collapse of the Western Roman Empire and then the economic collapse of the same 300 years later due to Viking looting of the cities and Islamic piracy strangling commerce on the Mediterranean, and what little was held onto was preserved by the monastic orders.
Halo4Lyf 1 month ago
@Halo4Lyf Yes but before that the Roman Catholic Church strangled scientists from posting scientific theories. With that new found technology they wouldn't all be dead. Tech saving 101 WOOHOO! Anyway you can't argue that religion ever helped science
HobbsO 1 month ago
@HobbsO I assume you're referring to Galileo and his house arrest? You know that a lot of the "common knowledge" surrounding that event is total bullshit, right?

Electricity was discovered, not invented. It was discovered over 4000 years ago and researched by many European researchers. It would still exist today. Christmas is pagan, Santa was originally Odin and many religions celebrate December 25th as is it 3 days after winter solstice when the Sun (not son) begins to rise again. (No not a coincidence, Christianity is just founded on other religions and star signs). Look up Horus the Egyptian God. Pre-Jesus and yet so similar.
HobbsO 2 months ago
Hospitals existed in Rome BC, Western civilization, also Romans. Real European stability only existed after WWII. Trial by jury, Greek BC. Printing press...give me a break. The Chinese, non-christian printing press, nuff said. Slavery was abolished by the Spanish BEFORE Christians disproved of it. The whole USA thing is just you talking out of your arse. Vaccinations, Louis Pasteur. Russia and Europe have shuttles. Microscopes, 1590, Netherlands. Internet, ARPANET, Mark I at NPL in the UK 1960s.
HobbsO 2 months ago
Furthermore, slavery is justified in the Bible, and the confederacy used religious arguments to justify the keeping of slaves. Of course Christianity was not the reason that slave owners kept slaves, but it was often used as a justification. The overturning of slavery was relatively secular and very little religious justification was used.
Imthewalrus06 2 months ago
@Imthewalrus06 Slavery isn't justified in the Bible. It is *acknowledged* in the Bible as an economic reality, but it is never declared explicitly good or bad. If you'd like to actually cite chapter and verse to try and prove me wrong, then feel free to do so.
Halo4Lyf 2 months ago
@Halo4Lyf " Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ." Ephesians 6:5. Also: 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Luke 12:47-48, Exodus 21:20-21, Exodus 21:7-11, Exodus 21:2-6, Leviticus 25:44-46. Need I list more?
Imthewalrus06 1 month ago
@Imthewalrus06 And Ephesians 6:9 says, "And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that He who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with Him." It wasn't endorsing slavery, you knit, it was telling Christians how to conduct themselves in that situation. Ditto the Tim verse, and the Luke verse was Christ speaking in parable, you dishonest douche.
You got a lot of hate towards God in you, man.
Halo4Lyf 1 month ago
@Halo4Lyf If God is the ultimate authority on morality, wouldn't it be easier just to say, "Masters don't keep slaves, it's wrong to own another human being as property"
And it seems like you're the one with all the hate, I'm not the one wielding petty insults at your intelligence or character.
I have no hate for God. That would be like hating Santa Claus or Zeus. What I have contempt for is all of that malice that has been done in the name of something so obviously man made as religion.

@Halo4Lyf Because owning another human being is fine as long as you're not terrible to them. Right. Thanks for confirming to me how twisted religion can make people. And atheists don't hate God - that would be like hating unicorns or leprechauns. We just don't believe in its existence.
CookieMcWeaksauce 1 month ago
@CookieMcWeaksauce BAHAHA! Oh, how cute, it thinks that today's prima face revulsion at slavery is anything other than a conceit of the modern industrial age. Yes, I will be even more up front about that: I don't think it's wrong, on it's face, to own another human being. Because Biblical slavery was a damn sight better than how it was practiced in the rest of the world at the time, and better than how it IS practiced in most of the rest of the world today.
Halo4Lyf 1 month ago
@Halo4Lyf The only reason you've given in support of Biblical slavery is that it's better than other slavery. Akin to saying "I support killing people with a guns, because it's better than killing them with a knife; there's less pain before they die." You are twisted for condoning the act at all.
CookieMcWeaksauce 1 month ago
@CookieMcWeaksauce And you're an arrogant tool for condemning it.
Halo4Lyf 1 month ago
Regardless of one's religious beliefs, the suggestion that Jesus' birth is responsible for all of the modern marvels in our society is just false (and honestly downright offensive considering all religion has done to hinder science). The Greek empire was really the birth of western civilization - the first western democracy - which took place long before Christianity. To suggest that all people were heathens before Jesus is horribly insulting and offensive to the great cultures of our past.

Dracopol 2 months ago
Yeah, that's nonsense. The Roman Empire would not have weakened from Christian wimpiness, and we would be living in Roman provinces with names adapted from Indian names, like Mississippia or Irocuoia or Tesherocia (the land of the Cherokees). They would be gone, of course, probably treated worse under Roman colonization than Christian, I give you that. But civilization would have a big jump ahead away from Christian ignorance. The steam engine of a Roman design would be invented in 500 AD.
Dracopol 2 months ago
...You would have a reliable train network by 700 AD and probably a high-speed magnetic-levitation train system by 1000 AD, all across Europe and beyond.

First of all, if you've taken any BASIC college courses in rhetoric, you'll see that you're taking the slippery slope fallacy TO THE EXTREME. Not only that, but you're assuming that because Christianity exists, Christ must have been born, and though that may be a logical statement to uneducated fucktards such as yourself, you must realize that there is little, if any, evidence to support his birth.
portero36 3 months ago
@portero36 Julio-Claudian Histories, Josephus, Pliny, Eusebius, Peter's house, and even the Talmud disagree with you. However, that's neither here, nor there. In this case, the slippery slope was set up naturally, as one innovation led to another, and the majority - if not the totality, - of those innovations originated among Christians. The majority of scientific advancements were proposed by Christians, and logic itself had it's start in Christian institutions.
dameon692002 3 months ago 2
@portero36 I almost forgot the Letter from Pontius Pilate to Tiberias Caesar. All that evidence may be disputed, but it's never been refuted conclusively. The same argument is occasionally used by proponents of evolution, when the evidence is either dubious or ambiguous.

Yet many of these developments were, at the time, a departure from the knowledge and values of the Church. Those ideas were their thinkers' own, and often came about despite the church, not because of it.

Roman society was civilized, much more than early Christian civilization. It was a beacon of light in a dark world and it collapsed thanks in part to the Christians, so you can NEVER make the claim that Christianity brought us civilization. It was one of the many reasons that civilization collapsed, and it took us centuries of fighting Christian orthodoxy to have all those technologies and ideas which you attribute to your religion.
kDest 8 months ago
If Jesus was never born, and thus Christianity never existed, Roman civilization might not have collapsed and we would not have had to spend centuries rebuilding civilization to a level that just barely approached the same level of technology a thousand years later. All that art, those writings, the music, would not have been burned and looted by Vandals and we would be a thousand or so years more technologically advanced, probably living on the moon and Mars right now.

@Tavor21Actual actually i can give a specific thing where scripture led to a specific discovery. without Jesus would be no inquisition either,i guess he decided it would be good to leave that one little fact, wonder if this guy even knows that the chistmas tree is pagan symbol as is the kind of hat the pope wears.

@nachtjager Just because they're Christian nations doesn't mean that's the reason for their success. What I was trying to point out is the reason for these inventions is not christ but science. Which all religions actively oppose by encouraging their followers to accept revelation and authority of ancient texts over empirical evidence.
FredrikTillett 9 months ago
@FredrikTillett Christianity provided the character of those nations, nowhere I said that Christ taught strings theory or something.
Nachtjager 9 months ago
And last but not least. You say Arabs Stole from the Greeks Romans. Well, then doesn't that mean Christians stole from the Greeks and Romans also??? Greeks where pagan, and the Roman where not Christian until the very end of their empire (which rapidly collapse afterward do to diverse causes). I mean, shouldnt a well read chrisitan now that Romans exectued Jesus and feed christians to the lions?? Christians deserve less credit than Arabs for preserving said cultures, even if it wasnt their own.
jejljejl2 9 months ago
@jejljejl2 Christians were Greek and Roman themselves, dumbass, they weren't foreigners as muslims from other continents are. The last Caesar ruled till 475AD, Constantine I converted to Christianity around 330AD, hardly the "very end" of the Roman Empire, besides the Eastern part did well until the13th century and survived until 1453 when it was overrun by turks.

Space program - who was in space first? oh yes it was the USSR and who built the first space
station? Yes! right again! The USSR!
Microscope - first invented by Dutch spectacle makers
Internet - First pioneered in universities in the UK
Cars - German Invention
Please stop
FredrikTillett 9 months ago
@FredrikTillett
So we owe space exploration to the atheists as the USSR sent a monkey to space, and did the USSR just poof out of thin air? Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, the US are nations with Christian foundations, no Christ no Christian nations no space shuttles no internet, no nothing.

Im not even going to bother to bring you up on your rediculous "no jesus: no civilisation"
tripe, howver I will contest your claimed Amreican inventions
Assebly Line - First used in the UK
Vaccines - Used in the middle ages by Arabian horsemen
Electricity - Yes Franklin played a major role but there were also key others

No. I would have to be a brainwashed IDIOT to follow such stupid reasoning.
jejljejl2 10 months ago
@jejljejl2 Modern tech has been created by nations with Christian foundations, no Christianity means those nations wouldn't have existed, European knowledge spread over by Jesuit monks would have never reached Japan or China. As the chinese believed themselves perfect, "islamic" knowledge stolen from Roman, Greek and Persian sources was smothered by a hardline interpretation of islam, and India bleeded out due to the islamic invasion, there would be no mars dweling for you, ignoramus.
Nachtjager 9 months ago
@Nachtjager If anything religion in both the Arab and Christian kingdom where detrimental to science . Christian kingdoms, after the collapse of the Roman empire didnt do anything special really. Remember that this people where either A) formers Romans whom had their empire collapse upon itself B) the same ppl the Romans used to call barbarians. So during that period of time it was the Arabs who took the torch of the ancient greeks and the romans, and pass it to the christian kingdoms later on,
jejljejl2 9 months ago
@jejljejl2 Christian Kingdoms like that of Castile and Aragon, later known as Spain, turned into global empires and brought civilization to entire continents. Arabs didn't took "the torch" in Spain it was the Syrian Umayyads, in Persia it was Aryans. Muslims didn't gave knowledge for free either, and you ignore that the Roman Empire survived until the 15th century when Renaisance kicked in thanks to the Popes and scholars scaping Constantinople after the turkish conquest.

Oh yeah, I forgot Jesus invented medical science.

What a crock of shit. Gotta love brainwashed idiots. (aka believers)

@ExSaint1379
Persia was no more after the islamic arab conquest in the 7th century, you dumbass.
Nachtjager 9 months ago

Jews where killed for using soap, and that sort of thing
jejljejl2 9 months ago
@ExSaint1379 Here is a list of people who where pagan and still produce 80% of the knowladge used by both CHRISTIANS and ARABS. Demostrating than the people who created the foundation for the western world where not christians.
Besides its funny you should accuse the ARABS for having smothered Greek, Roman, and Persian sources WHEN CHRISTIANISM WIPED THEM OUT ENTIRELY!!!!!!!!!!
jejljejl2 9 months ago
@jejljejl2 Didn't know that the Greeks/Romans, who turned themselves to Christianity and ran a thousand years old Christian Empire who spawned things like the Renaisance, wiped themselves out; and that it was Christians who destroyed the Zoroastrian Persian Sassanid Empire in the 7th century XD. FYI, Arabs besieged Constantinople while mohammed's corpse was still warm and also sacked St. Peter's, Turks destroyed the Christian Eastern Roman Empire and Arab muslims destroyed Zoroastrian Persia.
