Andy, get back to writing this stuff which is so so beautiful... how on earth you went from making heavenly music like this to writing for and producing the Sugarbabes, is surely one of life's big mysteries!!
really good and I dont think the video quality on the bits with Andy McC matters - if anything, they give it a shimmering ethereal quality quite in keeping with the track and the interspersing with segments of the heavens is great. Thanks for sharing it!
great stuff! 2nd best song behind International on this cd. Ha, i can remember listening to this song while watching the moon rise over the lake my freshman year in college. Powerful song!
never mind the quality, what a great song, had totaly forgotten this one. in fact, i see now Dazzle Ships was much better than i thought at the time. Just goes to show, even Scousers have their moments, he he!
I loved this song when I first heard it 1981 when it was the "b" side of "joan of arc" - I've only just re-discovered it and it hasn't lost any of it magic.
Haven't seen this for a while, good to see it again. I'm so looking forward to the performance of the Energy Suite with the Liverpool Phil, should be phenomenal. A great shame they're not releasing it on CD or download.
I am really looking forward to seeing OMD at the Phil too. Taking my 6 year old son too. He has never been as quiet as he was when I took him to FACT to see the Energy Suite.
Along with the single "Messages" this is their best stuff: top class.
OMD were for me very much a band of the radio age, as Andy McCluskey's bopping about in their videos only made me want to throw objects at the TV set - OK, good for a depressed economy as it created a demand for new TVs, but sadly distracting attention from the music.
In short, the picture quality isn't a problem: I had to scroll the video off my screen when I watched the live version elsewhere, with McCluskey's posing.
Hard to believe it's almost a year since I heard this played live. Can't wait to see OMD again in London on October 7th. Should be another stunning show.
i've recently been reading some old J.G. Ballard books that i have in my large, unorganized collection, and this is pretty much the soundtrack and the video running in my head....i recommend "Messages from the Sun"
i wonder if Ballard is a seminal OMD inspiration?
I love your videos, Nigel, they're so creative and a great way to showcase album tracks usually heard only by we fans and not the wider public. Keep up the good work. May I suggest Stanlow from Organisation and Sealand from A&M as future projects, two equally beautiful tracks that would be well received on here.
Thank you for your kind comments, they are much appreciated. I already have ideas for Stanlow, though waiting for warmer weather to make some time-lapse video. I also have ideas for several other album tracks.
I could listen to this track forever and never tire of it. So moving. I've recently had a death in my immediate family and music, especially OMD, has been a real comfort, when the rest of the world seems to be falling apart, it's there, a familiar constant presence. Thanks for posting.
I could listen to this song forever and never tire of it. When they played it at the end of the Indigo2 gig I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Sheer bliss.
I'm made up you put this on Youtube:) Great video! Well done, you just gotta love this song, I hope they play it at my funeral... just not yet hey? ;)
Great upload,thanks for that.Good video.

Great video, the low tech imagery gives it a very sublime feel when set to the music. A fitting tribute to a beautiful song. Bravo.
