It was missing something. It was missing the unmatchable, overwhelming emotion that accompanies Conor Oberst's singing. When I listen to to Conor's songs I can feel the anger, sadness, love, beauty and care he puts into all of his songs.
So no more arguing! The Killers did well with this song!

@derekleefan96 I'm no scholar, but i always thought he was talking about people and how they act because of there religion or what group they belong to. Like peoples radical actions such as war or discrimination are often fueled because of their belief, race, so on and so forth. And I think the chorus is talking about what happens when none of it is real, or matters. I also think the "four winds" is a nuke (levels the pines), but again i'm no scholar and everyone has their own interpretation
The Killers are my favorite band, and I just discovered this band & I really love them. I don't know why people have to take sides over a song. The Killers & Brights Eyes are both really amazing and talented bands.

the lyrics are great except this one part:

that line is very offensive and absoluely untrue. i wish there was a way you could edit that part out because that line of the song is honestly full of crap.

@derekleefan96 I'm no scholar, but i always thought he was talking about people and how they act because of there religion or what group they belong to. Like peoples radical actions such as war or discrimination are often fueled because of their belief, race, so on and so forth. And I think the chorus is talking about what happens when none of it is real, or matters. I also think the "four winds" is a nuke (levels the pines), but again i'm no scholar and everyone has their own interpretation
