The MacBook Air have a SSD + a great Keyboard with backlight and it's thinner + faster and the design is much more better.

i know you think thats useless...but the fact is that that is a VERY expensive feature for apple to make. And its also why the air is still the cheapest computer at its thickness...your asus isnt. Also, screensize doesnt change anything...some people like smaller than 17 inch screen, and the airs is better quality. lastly, the ssd in the air is probably worth half as much as all the compnents in your computer...but apple custom makes it

the hardware apple uses, can be bought simply online and put in a custom laptop for a third of the price. it's just the laptop "case" you pay for. It's nice of apple that they can make it so thin. i respect that, but i think it's just waaay to much money for what you can do with it (: personal opinion. I'm not gonna hate :D i would probably buy one if i had won the lotery xD

@Bertyball well no. tell that to samsung, a larger company, and they'll tell you they couldnt beat the air on price. and its a larger company in theory...but still. When you compare machine to machine you'll see apple is resonable. Air to 9...air is cheaper and better. imac to all in ones...imac has the best screen and specs. the 15" pro is the thinnest 15" laptop. its simply hard to compare apple products. but whatever. its more whichever OS you want then the computer...imo

@WarpeaceWar6 Yea you're right, nog gonna argue with you (; i'm not a massive anti-apple person, my dad ordered a iMac 27", i was very impressed, the screen is amazing, the screen normally costs about 1000€, so it's normal that the iMac is expensive, the hardware is also amazing. but the laptops. I preffer buying a laptop with good hardware instead of a fancy small thing that is "Useless" for the work i normally do (: i would like to have an air, but next to my asus :D

Mac air pros: Thinner, bright screen, longer battery life (In tests), looks better, multi touch trackpad.

Thinkpad pros: CD rom, more ports, more compatible with everything eg games.

Ten bucks that if the Lenovo was shinier people would like it over the Mac. It bugs me how apple likes to sacrifice functionality for shininess. And apple fans pay a LOT more for sub par components and a OS that you can't customize. I mean come on! At least with Windows 7 you can change the themes and change the window colors and transparency! But with Macs you are stuck with boring old grey. Wooooooo. But macs are shiny right? And that makes them better.........right?

well i think both os sucks. I prefer linux plus i would get the asus eee pc instead of this macbook air since it is smaller and it comes with linux. Plus with the asus eee pc you can choose the size of your hard drive, the screen size and so on.

when apple users go to buy a mac, its not just about usability and price, its about looks. you can get more use out of the lenovo laptop, but it looks ugly. and in any case if your going to spend $2000+ on a laptop(i don't know about pc's)you could get an amazing computer. both laptops shown here are a waste of money.

The thing I hate about Macs is that when they start to age, you can't just simply upgrade obsolete components. You have to buy a new one. I assume their 'lifespan' is slightly greater, but that's still a great deal more that you're paying.

The only thing nice about the air is the backlit keyboard, which several otherbrands do, and the x300 also has a keylight, so it dosent make a diffrence.
