1) Not bad for just starting. Work on tuning the instrument, making your picking style better, and trying to learn more about raga and intonation.
2)Carnatic music is not what Ravi Shankar practices. He practices Hindustani, North Indian while Carnatic is South Indian. Sitar is a North Indian instrument.
3)Jawari refers to the curvature of the bridge, which gives the sitar the characteristic sound.
Altogether, good for you for picking this up! Try getting some lessons!

when i saw ravi shankar play, on film, he was holding the instrument flatter, sort of tilted, less like a guitar, sort of in his lap
