  • This is weird, because I´m Brazilian and I learnt that the "TH" (symbol /θ/ ) sound of the words ANOTHER, THAT, THE, THOSE etc doesn´t have the same sound of "TH" (symbol /ð/) of the following words :THINK, BOTH, PATH, THIEF ect...

Now tell me: Am I wrong or am I right?

  • you forgot to tell the difference between the voiced und voiceless TH. THEN is different from THIN.both from smooth. but still a nice lesson.

  • can u make a video of essay writing ? plzzzzzz

  • if anybody practice in english with me add me in my skype id

    sajjadhellokhankhan

  • you wasted too much time on explaining the difference between voiced and voiceless... did you learn phonetics?

  • 4:15 wrong pronunciaion of the sound for the example "another", he needs to tell the diiference between the voiced and voiceless th sound, especially bc at the end of ther words in his examples the sound is voiceless...

  • This video made me mad. It's like when you breathe or blink. You don't consciously think about it. If you think about blinking or breating , you are probably going to mess up the pattern just by thinking about the pattern that it was going in.

Now that I am thinking about the letters "th", It's making me analyze every time I say words with "th". And I am thinking "Am I pronouncing the th right?".. and it's really annoying lol.

  • what about the TH words ending with an S?

    paTHS

    deaTHS

  • nice video fellow, thanks for sharing it.

    take care.

  • @MasterBotto1

i agree with you..james is indeed an excellent teacher...his teaching approach is good..but he failed to mention the "voiced" & "unvoiced" th..this is a must to teach "th" for pronunciation...but on the other hand, no need to be too technical with all the rules..hehe...

  • Rubber duckies, haha crazy teacher. Well you are effective.

  • "asian japanese and korean"WTF!!!

does it mean japanese and korean not belonging to asian?

  • congratulations ..wow .. your teaching is a funny way to learn.. ;)

  • a sexy teacher Luv u james*****

  • Your way of teaching "th" was good, however, you didn't mention the difference of voiced and unvoiced.

    For example

    Both as in unvoiced

    smooth as in voiced

    or

    Three as in unvoiced

    The as in voiced

It makes a big difference to explain the voicing and/or unvoicing of the sound.

  • Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,

  • excellent

  • Hi James,

A doubt about phrasal verb definition:

You explained it "a sentence fragment with a verb OR a NOUN".

I think, should it not be like this:

"a sentence fragment with a verb AND a PREPOSITION" ?

  • very useful tutorial ... thanks for the video ...

  • Fantastic!!!

  • i think you should use IPA symbols to explain better the differences

  • I say it usually like D because it takes time to put my tongue between my teeth and not only this but I don't want to risk to spit on somebody. Why would a language have this sound!!! Oh, by the way I see in her videos Britney Spears pronounces L like that. Showing her tongue and almost touching her nose with it. Ha!

  • I am sure your language have sound which are difficult to English speakers too.

they must ask the same question... why would a language have a sound like that?..... well, we don't know why... we just have to speak like that....

    ehehh thanks

  • Actually, I think all of the sounds in my language are much simple. Whatever is written, that's what have to be read. With no tongue bending. haha! We have forms that are difficult. And foreigners usually complain on the length of the words.

    Thanks!

  • nice video...
