A funicular is a cabled rail train, I assume that carried people through the mountain passes, over the mountains, this song was written at the opening of the new one to replace one that had been destroyed by a storm or something, it's a man singing to a woman asking in affect to go for a ride on the funicular in the mountains, he's telling her how you can see 3 countries from up there, Spain, etc.

@dragoncomunity Is actually a kind of train used to go on mountains (the word in english is funicular). Luigi Denza write this piece when they built the first of Mount Vesuvium funicular. And "Funiculi"..... i think is not even a word and was invented for the song (maybe also plural to funicula)
