  • love your vids, trying to teach myself what youre doing.....have photoshop and wacom stylus....my question is do you just have one layer for the color of the mech, and a seperate one for the linework? I'd like to know the nuts and bolts process of layers, brushes etc.....thanks in advance!

  • HAFACUTDAY BAHBAI

  • what program is this

  • Oh also, I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to generally draw mechs. Like general things like how to make shoulder pads and how to flow them into the arms and how to make the chest armor go into the torso and like a couple general head shapes and stuff like that. It would help immensely with creating mechs and not just copying yours.. If you could do it that would rock.. Thx

  • What's the program you use? And Mac or pc? Great vid btw.. I love your videos

  • is this on one layer?!?

  • What is software?

  • @MrGooox He's using photoshop

  • Press F13

  • @w00taduck i pressed it but nothing happened

  • @w00taduck Lol, I tried looking for it!

  • @ninjablimp Thanks ninja. It is part of my specialize ninjitsu practice. ;-)

  • what tablet do you use :)

  • @ElusiveEdits Wacom

  • are you using a mouse or a drawpad? please answer..

  • @DragonDrawing deeeefinately a pad. You can tell because how his brush size changes so easily, because of the pressure he is applying, so if the circle of the brush is huge, but he is only making small brush strokes, then its sure tell sign its a pad. Hope it helps :)

  • @DragonDrawing Hes using a pad of course why would he torture himself with a mouse

  • bigest chang was near 4:16 all hope was lost until that jaw became square

  • do you like fishsticks

  • @xjbobbyx I like seaweed and egg tofu.

  • @xjbobbyx And blood cubes. ;-)

  • Amazing! looks real after a while :O

  • Is this a version of photoshop?

And furthermore, could this quality of work be done in GIMP 2?

Please leave an answer, i'm dying to know :O

  • @Penguin1eggs

It's not a matter of whether work of that quality could be done on GIMP, it's whether you want to bother. Photoshop is going to make it easier for you to do high quality stuff faster, but GIMP can get to the same end result. If you paint as a hobby and don't want to spend money, then GIMP would probably be fine. If it's something you're serious about I'd recommend photoshop. I'm a digital artist by trade and for me Photoshop CS4 was worth every penny--just hunt for a bargain.

  • how the hell did u draw that?????????????

  • Ha ha! As i watched the end of this video, i started to wonder: "Hmmm, that robot is starting to look familiar!" and then it hit me! The eye and its headshape reminds me of Grey fox from Metal gear solid! xD

    Great vid!

  • great vid, metal is a hard light source to copy, at least for me

  • i think i see this more like a motivation video more then a how to. not that its bad i like the mech :)

  • i NEVER learn something from idrawgirls, it sucks, to hurry drawing watch markrilley guys! he wil lhelp

  • @michaelmyersvideos

Than you are one dum.b sod of bones and meat my friend.

  • @michaelmyersvideos its sad that you will put down this guy- i draw girls has so many great tutorials uploaded - when he could choose to do so somewhere else with a fee. I think IDG- and MK are both very skilled yet very unique artists- same thing with the other 100 artists i watch on youtube each deliver something unique to the viewer- why limit yourself and only benefit from one when you can do so with all? go take your spam elsewhere amateur.

  • @leatopia MK?

  • @DaUnknowna i meant Mark Crilly sorry ( MC)

  • @leatopia oh ok

  • You have one of the best video tutorials for drawing and painting on youtube.

    PERIOD.

P.S: I have seen lots of tutorials, with total dissapointment, but you encourage me to try it again and again, and it really even looks simple to do!

    THANKS!

  • This looks cool but I really didn't learn anything from this.

**If you really like trial and error then stencil out an outline and stuff in the beginning but if you want a little bit more effectiveness I'd recommend making a posed stick man, then working out some basic shapes for the body parts and then start up the outlining. Makes the workflow go a little easier, gets you the pose you want and also keeps your whole character on the paper/canvas.

    Cheers^^

  • I really like this I'm kinda goin into this college as a beginner for this type of stuff and trying to see what it's like and that video is nice.

  • looks like a TAU unit :) kewl

  • Custom brushes?...When I see at this tutorial, one thing comes to my mind ¡NO MAMES! (don't $%& me...). This is great, and I'm a beginner who wants to learn, drawing like 6 hours per day, with some questions. The brushes are the normal found in the photoshop pack or another kind?. Thanks for any responses, and sorry for my bad english...

  • i tried to draw this it turned out exactly like yours your drawing are always cool

    :D

  • nice man i really like your drawings man keep it up bro

  • He's probably either using Photoshop CS (whichever version) or Corel Painter (whatever version he has).

And I found that drawing with a mouse offer leaves the hand/wrist cramped and is much slower and less effective than a pen with pressure and all the custom controls you get from a pad. I just can't get near the same quality that I can with a mouse. Not worth the time or effort.

  • wow

  • I have a question, I'm totally beginner, I want to start learning. Do I really need a tablet to draw or is mouse OK to start?

  • @x75tiger75x a tablet is the most preferable choice, but drawing with a mouse is not impossible, the only major problem i find in using a mouse, is drawing custom curves, and pressure control.

  • tablet has lot more advantages and is more comfortable to use.

  • what is the program?!

  • awesome!!,, do u have a Comic u made?

  • It seems Photoshop with an extra "weapon"... not?

  • Which program?

  • awesome love your work, I trying to get into character concept art myself, Im good with pencil, I usually scan my work to add color and detail with photoshop, but I fail there, I never get it the way I want it. but thanks your video helps me a lot.

  • is this one of those magical tutorials that teaches me how to improve my skills without having to actually practice? :-)

  • what program was used for this?

  • are you drawing everythig on one layer or are you usng more???

  • he makes it look so easy!

  • The guy draws girls, can't you see? Hah

  • what brush presets does he use? is the pen pressure on? hows about the flow...THANKS u

    ***** = 5 stars

  • thanks for the great advice in this video man. I'd love to see a completed concept from start to finish cause the furthest i get when i draw an original design is about as far as you got here. I'd love to work as a concept artist for a videogame company but my original art's not nearly as good as my illustrations on youtube. do you have any advice on that? i know i treasure my work way too much when it's only in its beginning stages which gives me a creative block but it's easy copying an image.

  • Thanks man, I love this!

  • what brush are you using!?!?!?!

  • can u tell me what programme u use.

  • what is that drawing program called?

  • looks like gimp or a custom version of it.

  • He is probably using Photoshop.

  • Thank you :)

  • Ok guys, i hope smb responds to this:

When he changed the head and made it wider the "jaw" of the bot somehow changed it shape alone -it became wider itself and fit with the rest of the helmet. So how does this work? Is it the program or smth else? I am asking for i am still drawing on paper with a pencil and it look so much easier on PC :]

  • what tool do you use to blend

  • WHAT PROGRAM IS THIS

  • Adobe Photoshop, the exact version doesn't matter.

  • he says alot of stuff about a gimp witch is a program almost the same as photoshop but seems likes its more for painting then changing photos

  • Gimp is like a watered down version of photoshop; I would say photoshop is much better for painting than Gimp, gimp is just popular because it's free.

  • so how can i get this program called "Gimp" i went to the website but when i hit download it takes me to some microsoft wedsite...im lost

  • it's not Gimp or Photoshop it is Corel Painter

  • Can you tell me what program this is?

  • I myself prefer to go from dark to light too- its kinda easier to underline the reflecting parts than shadowing it all

    BTW great mecha :)

  • I am in awe of your majesty!

  • very nice tutorials, both interesting and inspiring..

I'm really glad there are artists like you out there that post their knowledge and art online so we can see it, admire it and learn from it.

    looking forward for more;)

  • you're a very talented young chap if i say so myself

  • this is so awesome! Your rendering is so realistic! You choose the right values that gives the impression thet the metal is real!

    Well done -- keep posting!

    Peace!

  • very nicely done *****

  • wow

  • Too Good.

  • great tutorial as always

  • xcellence by far!
