  • @hanapana hey. Do you still have a copy with the commentary, now that I look back I wish it was still on there. It made the video lol. Hope all is well

  • this looks pretty rad. I was stoked to read that the OP and locals found common ground. Now I want to hear those comments. I dont think I would try this without a local filling me in on the little details... but looks like a lot of fun presuming you know what you are doing.

  • This is nuts! When I was there, the locals wouldn't even tell me how to find Queen's because of how many people die. (we found it and swam safely). As of Oct. '10, the death toll was 29. Those idiots give the place a bad name.

  • @babbitsmom so whaat youu calling kauai people idiots !

  • jeph boy how bout i drowned you rather than smack you

  • come smack me im his brother and i learned how to swim there first of all you fukas clame a good story when you dont even no my brother whos swimming

  • i live on kauai i went there on a day almost like this and i shit myself

  • lady, your a kook! you dont know us. your from the mainland! dont come video tape us while were doing what we do all the time, what we have been doing since we were young, and tell us that were crazy, off our rockers with out the meds. blah blah blah. but i must say, you commentary is the funniest thing, and thanks for the shot. but next time you wanna film us, keep your irritating voice to yourself. MAHALO!

  • @kauaiianboi I'm sure there are some things in my part of the world that you wouldn't understand either. I'm entitled to post what I want and have my say. Fine that you don't like it, I don't really care. I posted this for my friends to see because it's considered unusual to us.

  • @hanapana

well maybe you shouldnt say the things about the local people, in their local enviroment, doing what they've always done. dont hate.

  • @kauaiianboi I appreciate your words and you're right. Honestly, I assumed the kids in the video were not locals. I took off my commentary and now have music. I'm amazed by the bravery and mistook it for ignorance. My bad. On another note...it sure did make for a great visual video!

  • @Hanapana

hey. so im sorry i kinda snapped. i didnt mean to. thats me and my friend in the video. we've been doing this since we were kids, she is 26, and im 20. but i just kinda got like, whoa hows this person talking about us like we dont know what were doing. but i must say the commentary was the best part about the video. like seriously it was, it made it funny. haha. well i just wanna say sorry for being agg, and thanks for the sick video. me and my friend think were youtube famous now!

  • @kauaiianboi

Thanks! And I'm sorry for acting like a stupid haole. Next time, I'll know better. That is...if I get to come to your beautiful island ever again. I hope Kauai never changes.

  • @Hanapana

This may be the first ever documented argument on youtube that turned out civil in the end haha. Awesome video, it looked fun at first and then super dangerous. You got some serious bravery there Hanapana, props.

I live over on Maui but love Kauai!

  • @kauaiianboi Love this video. I'm glad you 2 made your peace. I've been to Maui twice & I have to say the locals for the most part are very nice people. Kaui is definitely on my list for our next trip. I've been swimming since I was a kid but I've never seen anything like this. Life is too short not to enjoy nature's gift. Maybe you can show us around when we get there. Aloha!

  • STUPID HAOLE, I SWIM THERE ALLTHE TIME

  • Comment removed

  • I'd smack 'em, but I don't know who they are. :) I'm coming there in a few months. I'll be sure to check this out, if only to video tap more crazies for Youtube.

  • I live on Kauai, and I have witnessed people doing this on occasion. The frustrating part is that in order to reach this area, you must pass a sign that tells you the number of deaths that have been recorded... the last time I was there I think it was 32, but it has been a while. Probably one of the most dangerous places on the island. I'm pretty nuts, and this is too much for me. I guess I'm getting too old, lol.

  • I must be old too because I thought this was insane. I couldn't believe these people were in that area knowing the surges go up & down within seconds. I would never have done this, even in my younger years.
