i like sad endings, like in my story where the main girl has to kill her boyfriend so she can save the rest of the world. she couldnt bare losing him because she loved him so much but one of them had to go, and he said he would die if she died so he would rather die for her than lose the thing he loves the most.

and btw, amu is a mary sue and even though i dont like that, i love her :P

I think the point is that Shugo Chara is about developing yourself as a person, and not hiding behind the character you've built. Amu wanted to be more girly, which includes being more open to crushes towards boys, and becoming close to certain people, which, while being a bit cliched, means that there is actually a plot; If Amu didn't want to progress like this, then her Chara's wouldn't have been born.
