I saw Saltimbanco last night, and every single act was amazing. The artists were so skilled it was ridiculous. But Eddy the clown with his simple little sketches would have to be my favourite. His skills were amazing, and the acts hilarious, he was absolutely a simple joy to watch. I would recommend anyone go and see Saltimbanco, it's a very happy show that anyone will enjoy, no matter what their age or what personality.

This was one of my favourite acts of Saltimbanco. Saw it in Adelaide, Australia last Sunday. I think the guy we had was Martin Pons (according to the Cirque Tribune) and he was fantastic.

I remember I had always been terrified of clowns until I saw Saltimbanco, and these guys, for some reason, I didn't find scary. They were...different, and I liked their performance a lot! :D

Numéro de clown absolument génial. C'est homme est un véritable artiste. Les bruitage, la coordination des gestes en plus "c'est phénoménale". Il est doué car en plus c'est plein d'humour. Ce moment de légèreté est a voir et a revoir sans modération. Un très grand merci de faire découvrir le cirque du soleil. Il est a tout point de vue d'une grande richesse pour ses numéros dont certains sont spectaculaires et innovants. UN GRAND MERCI.

This act was hilarious when I saw it in Ireland recently. One of the guys he roped into the act was so unbelievably stupid when it came to following instructions, poor Amo did well not to break character and hit the guy, ha!

I enjoyed Saltimbanco more than Quidam, but I have to say the acts all seem much more toned down than on the original DVD performance. The acro stuff seemed quite standard to be honest, but the atmosphere was more vibrant and funny than Quidam, definitely.

i have a question to everyone... i have been to alot of the cirque du solei shows, quidam being my first one back in 99 ( i fell in love with this one and i still say its the best one)... i am going to see saltimbanco on friday and i am kind of nervous that it wont be as good... i heard that it wasnt as great as all the others... is it worth going??? please let me know IF IT IS GOOD OR NOT... thanks!

Is it good?.... Defined by what?

Each person will take out of it what he/she needs.

Saltimbanco was originally created in 1992 and has seen several incarnations, it is a different show than say Quidam. The cast at the moment is strong, the arena environment is adapted from the chapiteau, allowing it to go to markets otherwise not available with the infrastructure of the tent... If anything, compared to the other shows, it may be stylistically dated...Go see it!

Went to see it tonight with my family and the clown act was absolutely the best I have ever seen. Nothing compares to this act....nothing. The entire audience was cheering, laughing and just having a wonderful time.

Actually no. It is a subtle difference I admit, but a mime, in the common sense as I think you are referring to.. uses illusions to impress, to tell stories, etc. A clown, uses mimetic action as a tool, (as well as self ridicule, onomatopoeia, and absurd dramatic situation, to name a few) with the intent to make people laugh. A pantomime's motor is not necessarily to make people laugh. A clown's is... if it isn't, he is a character or something different... so just so you know, I am a clown.

Agreed! You're so absolutely right and most definetly 100% correct about that, my friend. I myself am a clown, as well as an actor, a juggler, a magician and a physical comedian. I do scarves, balls, rings, clubs, plates, devil sticks, the diabolo, hat manipulation, plate spinning, balancing and cane tricks. What about you? Was it ever a bit tedious for you to perform night after night? What type of makeup did you wear on your whole entire face? Did those shorts even fit you at all? You're cool.

you must of had such a fun time working for the cirque ! im 17 and do tumbling and want to be in the cirque one day, your have to be amazing to work for CDS

You do not have to amazing to work in CDS... you have to work hard, be a little bit in the "right time right place", and willing/able to do 10 shows a week.

Remember, as a tumbler you would likely be working at about 30% of your ability, and do the same movements all the time... hence, shoulder, knee miniscus and general repetitive injuries become a common thing... all the same, if you want to work in Cirque... casting at cirquedusoleil dot com is the place to write to... my suggestion, take as many dance/ballet classes as you can... it will help you immensely in your physical activities.
