  • Yes indeed, sing it Chuck!!!! Great song, and fabulous personality.

I can hear this over and over. Let's face it, this is really the way songs should sound like.

    Thanks.

  • I saw him sing this song at the Howard Theater in Wash DC. He had a lead-in to the song that had the audience in the palm of his hands. He talked about getting a phone call in the wee hours of the morning; a voice on the other end said, Chuck, Chuck, Chuck I need you baby. He replied, that he wanted to come back, but it was one thing that she had to know...I don't want to cry.

  • I love this song what a great contrast from then and now you can't even understand the lyrics

  • For those of us who never had a girlfriend in high school this song told a story for us

  • This song by CJ was featured on the 1965 LP of Murray the K's selection of hits.

  • Good stuff. Thanks.

  • Chuck Jackson really left great memories in my heart and soul. In the flat lands of NC, I sat in our kitchen late at night with a Silvertone transistor radio and let these things sink into my brain, song by song. Thanks for posting this. I'll have to come back often to remind myself of the great talents such as Chuck who helped walk all of us through puberty and young adulthood. Yes, I'm afraid we don't have the great talents today. Seems no one aspires to write or sing truly good material. Sad.

  • Latta, SC favorite son.

  • @berean01 i feel you.

  • The Fabulous Flippers (Kansas band from the 60's) did a great version of this song. Check it out.

  • I'm so used to Steve Alaimo's awesome version, haven't heard this to my knowledge, nice.

  • Absolutely love "Any Day Now" by him. But this is one of my favorite songs of all time. Can't hear it enough. I'm sure everyone at one time or another can relate to the words of this song - - it's called being in love

  • Love this song thanks for posting...I don't suppose you've got I'll Fight (till I win Your Love) looked all over YouTube and can't find it!!! :-)x

  • @1264caz Sorry, don't have that one by Chuck.

  • If anyone wants to play this on the guitar (I haven't seen the chords on the net):

    verse: C Em F D7

    chorus; C Am C Am F G

    bridge: Am Em F D G

This sounded pretty good when I played along to the song.

  • My audio has disappeared. Help.

  • its great but pearlean gray's version is better imho

  • I'm 15 years old and I love this song. hnnnng

  • Thank you Cousin Brucie ! for sharing this song with us when we were young.

  • Go on baby. Beautiful, sexy, slightly raspy voice. How cool. My sister used to love this and so did I........ This man was not only talented but in person, OMG and Adonis if I ever saw one! And I lived through the 60s and can't say enough about the triumphs we had socially and musically.

  • OH YA`LL THE 60`S...IF YA DIDN`T GET TO LIVE THROUGH THOSE YEARS... YOU JUST DON`T HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT. THOSE TURBULENT YEARS ARE WHAT MADE US STRONGER IN AMERICA. NOTHING LIKE THE SILLY CRAP THAT IS HAPPENING NOW.

  • I thank God for allowing me at the age to appreicate thess beautiful sound

  • Fabulous voice and song!!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • beautiful song! this is real music. thanks for posting. God bless

  • Chuck had the prettiest pearly white teeth to go with the rest of the package and the Amazing Voice, you can listen for days--Check out I Wake up Crying and Any Day Now. Strong strong vibrant voice. A real Live Orchestra too!

  • I Love the orchestration in the beginning!!

  • This isn't the original version which was a little more intense in the vocal.

  • One of my All time all times!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • i was in junior high school Fort Worth Texas when this came out. You think this was not popular with the teen canteen bunch. We worn the bottem of our socks off. Thanks for the memory

  • My folks had this record... I used to play all their old records... God bless my parents are still here in their 70s now...

  • "Now Mama, I know I been wrong"; excellent bridge to finale of this song- and Chuck nails it! Not a pretty voice, but it's hand-crafted , and stays on top of the orchestra.

  • "c'mon, walk on in..."

    Always a fantastic song! Thanks....Jan

  • I agree "ILoveLugoff": one of the most under-rated singers of the '60's. Others include Joe Simon, Phil Flowers (His version of "Everyday I Have to Cry" is outstanding) & Darlene Love. Jackson had 1 LP with Motown: "Chuck Jackson Arrives!" Soul at its best. "DavesCarWash: All those artists you mentioned are what other singers need to follow. Roy's "You Can have Her" is super soulful with a crescendo ending. Try not at least tapping your toes to it.

  • Gypsy Kings, in Detroit, at the Greystone ballroom. Calypso.

  • Memories, memories of my junior high school days

  • Simply one of the best records ever made. Wonder if Simon Cowell would find this boring, LOL!

  • This song just isn't a beach music

    classic- it's a soul classic!

  • @billchew450 Amen!

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful!!!

  • Wonderful song. Great voice. Has anyone ever heard this song by the Fanulous Flippers?

  • Quite simply, THE voice !

  • Love this song, beautifully tuned and just one of Chuck Jackson songs that couldn't be beat. Very under rated artist. Love all of his music.

  • there arny out there in the music world as we know them today to compare to the singers of this caliber. If there are they are undiscovered because you have to be a thug with a criminal record and a criminal mind to make it in the music world. Wouldn't it be great if the real talents out there in the world could put on a show honoring the great singers of the past? The real talents out there have not been discovered!

  • You're just a child!

I was a High School Junior!

I Would love to turn back the clock!

Not just for my youth, but for the beautiful "Music"

    Beautiful Times".

And seemingly a "Far more Beautiful "Planet,

    compared to the World Today!

Especially when you use the "MUSIC" as a Gauge!

  • i like this alot

  • I couldn't agree more. Thanks for posting!

  • First heard this in 7th grade in 1961 and have loved it ever since!! Jackie Wilson, Roy Hamilton, Chuck Jackson, Ben E. King on and on!!! Ludacris and others of his talent level (ie., none) should be embarrassed!!!!
