  • Okay, was this filmed at a high school debate competition? No... oh! The North Carolina General Assembly... wow.

  • Separation of Church and State? Who even believes in "curses from God" and "blasphemy" anymore?

  • Amen!

Marriage = one man, one woman

Vote YES on the Marriage Amendment on May 8, 2012.

  • All these statements you have made, where did you get this information? Is it fact, or is it just something you are making up? Site where you found your information, and tell me how god and the government co-exist in your little world. Here's a solution: Get government out of marriage entirely, no tax breaks, no intensives, marry for love in your religious places only.

  • This is unconstitutional, government shall make no establishment of religion. We (the united states) do not recognize your religious point of view about marriage.

  • @frosted1030 Sounds like what the guy in the video is arguing...

  • This but ugly fascist fool is actually blaming divorce on homosexuality. OMG! These people are ignorant, brainwashed, and just plain insane!

  • @MySensualWorld who is blaming divorce on homosexuality? The guy in the video isn't.

  • @psalmsmith Instead he argues that the state has usurped the right of God. But he's speaking of a Christian God when Jews marry, Muslims marry, Atheists marry. Marriage is an institution that has always been used and carried out by we, the people. When has God stated His case-by-case support for marriage? This is ridiculous! If God's sole authority in marriage exists in His Word, the Bible, how has state "usurped" that role? If this is a matter of faith, then how has anything changed?

  • NC is as backwards as can be!

  • As long as those that choose reason over faith of any and all types still have the right to marry, then I agree completely.

  • i love how all the old farts behind him dont give a shit

  • Brilliant speech!

  • i wish government would get out of spiritual issues Thanks Glenn. Let the churches decide if they want to allow it.

  • Well I see the straight haters are here. No doubt democrats who love when it works in their favor and complain when it doesn't. The majority of people do not want gay marriage to be the "norm". Ideally the gov't should be out of it but the gay community has made it an issue to use gov't to force people to accept it.

I'd be much happier getting gov't out but now the people have to do this in order to prevent the further destruction of the view of marriage

  • Getting government out of marriage would be the best solution. Why would any human being, want "the power of the state" interfering in and over YOUR personal life at all?

  • @spaceagedevice TO PREVENT IMMORAL AND INDECENCY PEOPLE FROM MAKING A MASS OUT OF OUR SOCIETY

  • @THEHELENOHENZO ... That's not even a sentence.

  • Do we have representatives or pastors talking behind those mics? I seriously can not tell anymore. It will be a sad day when the isalmic taliban takes the country and outlaws christianity and says christians can not marry. I obviously do not want this at all, but it is no different than what this Rep is trying to force upon the rest of us. It is a very sad day in North Carolina.

  • @jakeluv7 - I have to ask, did you even listen to what the hell Glen said? Removing government purview from Marriage would allow ANYONE to get married in a church: gay, straight, polyamory or not. It would prevent the government from interfering in people's lives? How is that forcing ANYTHING upon you?

  • @BrooklynRedLeg Did YOU even listen? He says flat out "Marriage, to me & my god, is a relationship that exists between one man & one woman alone whom God has joined together for the rest of their lives." He posits the red herring of an argument that government involvement in marriage is somehow a relatively recent development in history that started with racist legislation that was passed alongside the abolition of slavery. This isn't an argument-- this is divisive bullshit!

  • @jakeluv7 He's never spoken like that on the House floor before. I am sure that the overwhelming reference to religion was intended because he's a Republican speaking against a Republican hot-button issue, and thus he opposed the bill from a religious perspective in order to side-step the attacks from social conservative groups that are certain to come. Interestingly, his amendment was supported by Former Speaker Joe Hackney and the Democratic Caucus.

  • Why do you even care! It's not you so stay out.

  • I hope the voters in his district see fit to replace him with someone who has sense.
