This song really rocks and is totally fresh and snarling, unlike his later stuff. I call this real rock and roll--it makes Blue Moon Swamp seem mellow.

The audio-quality isn't there, but the music is.

Wish it was better-treated audio-fidelity wise.

I don't think he's re-record a lot of these songs in quite the same way as on this record, but there are definetly officially-released re-writes of similar material and music.

"Wicked Old Witch" even has him doing the "hooo" part in it. Made me smile.

He has said in interviews on the subject that he is happy with his decision to have the tapes destroyed.

But WOW would have me believe otherwise.

From what I understand and have read, it was Fantasy Records (John's label at the time) that told him it wasn't good enough to be released.

This was post-Fantasy (Elektra, I believe). It was pulled after promo copies were sent out, which is why a few survived.
