omg u cook cockatoo eggs that is fricken sick that is disgusting and mean poor baby birds LISTEN BELLABEAR04 GO LET BELLA LAY AN EGG AND LET IT HATCH BUT I HAVE 6 WORDS FOR U: GET A LIFE U FRICKEN LOSER!
Female birds have been popping eggs out of their ladyparts for millions of years without a primate to stroke their heads and mutter cooing sounds at them. They surely didn't need calcium supplements before we started keeping them captive. If it wasn't for that fact, she wouldn't need your help at all. I'm not trying to criticize. I'm just saying, you shouldn't feel so bad for her. She evolved to do exactly what she is doing. That's not a bad thing.
Just saying: It's normal for most human females in a certain age span to "lay eggs" (albeit very small ones) roughly once a month. Why is it so strange when (some) birds do it then? Reading those books in school can help.
I lost my bird due to pregnancy her mate was SO sad I'm glad Bella is OK sometimes I just burst out crying at random times thinking of Stella and Gabe THANK GOD GABE IS OK we got him a new budgie he is a boy and his name is Mickey BLESS U AND BELLA
My heart hurts for poor Bella! It must be really painful and tiring to lay such a big egg! I am not being sarcastic, you see, the egg compared to Bella is really quite big. She must have been so tired!
@stannyzblast Here is the thing though, even if she lays an egg it wont hatch because she has no male and it is not fertile. So the egg is just a regular egg no baby. It is sad.
This video is heart worming :) I have 1 almost 6 month old hen and 4 baby chicks and there all egg layers and yes I do have a close bond with each and one of them. I can't wait til my oldest hen lays her first egg! I'm going to post it on youtube .
@AlbertosaurusTX i wish she would just stop the egg laying. It takes so much out of her and shes on calcium supplements now and for the rest of her life... its so sad!
@BellaBear04 Have you tried giving her a fake egg? Switching out the real eggs with the fake ones has been known to halt the egg laying process. It can even be anything round shaped and of a similar size, like a pingpong ball or something. We would give my cockatiel and now my lovebird a few marbles to nest on when she starts laying eggs, and that usually works with stopping it. Heck, just having the round object in the cage can sometimes be enough to work.
@japandemonium77 i have cooked them for my dogs and cat... they wont even touch them! and they love chicken eggs. Im not sure why they dont like hers.
@BellaBear04 The eggs from your bird will taste different from those of a chicken or duck. I would be wary about eating them yourself, however, as you may encounter salmonella or other bacteria, especially if you are unsure as to how long an egg has been sitting out or if the bird has tried to incubate it. Bacteria can penetrate the egg as it passes through the reproductive tract or as it cools once it is outside the bird's body.
@BellaBear04 GET A LIFE YOU LOSER DO U KNOW HOW MUCH FRICKEN PAIN THAT BIRDS GO THROUGH TO LAY EGGS? U R A BASTARD! I MEAN EATING BIRD EGGS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? THAT IS JUST WRONG, RETARTED, MEAN, CRUEL, AND DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@xthrowdownx06 Just like chickens can lay eggs without a male i guess cockatoos can as well. I really honestly dont understand it. I wish she would stop though! and dont worry love you arent being disrespectful!
@nohutpilav thing about the mating is, if you look up the comments to the first part of this, she tried to get her to mate but she (the bird) didnt get along with the male and started plucking her feathers. if you are trying to mate birds, they need to be kept separate from too much human contact. they will get attached to the human. and if i remember right they mate for life so if they attach to a human they wont want anything else. very good comunication between you and your bird
@xthrowdownx06 Well to put it simply, i dont know if youre a girl or not. But its kinda like us, birds lay eggs, its a form of their period, like girls. We have our period when were not fertile with a baby, and we dont have our period for a long time, when we are fertile. Like birds, they have eggs regularly and as long as there is no male, you can guarantee they arent fertile. If theres a male, expect lots of babies. Hope my answer helped :3
@xthrowdownx06 well its part of their ummm life cycle. is the best way to explain. These are infertile eggs meaning, they won't hatch because it did not mate with a male. This is like a girls period. It means that the bird is ready to mate and WILL WANT TO MATE WITH A MALE in many cases. The bird has pretty much matured. This will not last all lifetime just a while.
@xthrowdownx06 Laying eggs in birds is very like the process of ovulation in mammals (e.g. women): an egg cell matures and has to go somewhere.. Females have a set of egg cells that will mature at certain point of time and some of them will get fertilized, some won't . If the egg cell is not fertilized in a women, her period starts. If an egg cell is not fertilized in a bird, the female bird lays unfertilized egg.
Thats cute! I have a lory that made a nest in a box of newspapers and then would go back into her cage every night at bed time. She laid two eggs in the papers and sometimes she gets mad if her nest is disturbed but she doesn't sit on them. I don't think it hurts them to lay an egg once in a while.
@Staffachick she use to do 3 to 4 a month. thankfully it has slowed to 2 every other month or ever 3 months! The doctor said she was a chronic egg layer and she was shortening her life by laying so many. she was on calcium supplements because of it. she still gets them just not as often.
Yes thats alot we have a female cockatoo and she has laid eggs with her mate 2 times in about 6 months. I think eclectus also lay alot of eggs, 2 at a time and usually every 60 days.
@Staffachick i got her a mate, she hated him, wouldnt go near him and even learned his name followed by I DONT LIKE COCONUT! He became unbelievably aggressive and started attacking everyone in the house and all my friends. To the point of stitches. I lost feeling from my finger tips to my elbow for 8 months from one of his bites!! Sadly i had to adopt him out. But he found a fantastic home and bella stopped plucking her feathers as soon as he left!
I know this video is really old so it might not matter anymore but have you ever thought of letting her sit on "eggs" to see if that would stop the reproductive urges. Many times allowing the bird to sit on fake eggs until she loses interest will help them break the cycle.
@qtrhorse89 ive wanted to do that but i can't for the life of me find the "dummy" eggs! Ive tried with her regular egg but what she does is start peeling the shell off the egg. Ive gotton her lupro shots and it haulted the urge to breed for about a month and they cost me 200$ because she needed the max dose because she is considered a chronic egg layer. but she would need them every month and the cost is outrageous. If you know a site where i can find those eggs please please please let me know
I think it is a fair guess to say that the other woman is your mother???? That will be the one that has nearly no interest with your proud new egg. Oh well, just had to throw that in there. Then, there's YOU. If I wasnt positively sure, I would think that YOU were in labor..You coudlnt tell it, but I was there holding your hand the entire time. "whew" I'm all tuckered out.
@IndigoCat17 if you actually read the description you would know that i didnt put a male and female together and if its so "GROSS" why did you bother even watching it? Next time don't click a video you find offensive or gross in your words

her eggy was based on sneggable status. you need to next time provide skull fluffys during the middle of this type of an ordeal in the future. remember, pain is an affirmation of life. And you will also be required to change the birds name immediately.
@TheMuffinBurgler i agree. i would never breed bella due to the fact that there are far to many homeless parrots and also male birds can be deadly during breeding. they can snap her neck or tear her apart!
@mauee20 ill tell you in c.t there are no rescues with room for new birds. when i got her i looked for an african grey. Most of the shelters said we are primarily cockatoos!! it was sad. same thing with Massachusetts
How come when my umbrella cockatoo lays eggs, they pop out real easy, like gumballs out of a gumball machine? Is your bird not healthy? Why is laying such an ordeal? I'm concerned.
Tanks Ive done my homwork and I'm defanitely ready for the atention I had two conures and they never wanted to be put down they yell till I picked them up my neibours painted and the died but I'm not getin my cockatoo till i move to the country at the end of the year=:)
i really hope it works out with the new Baby you get. Just remember how demanding these birds are and that they require many hours of play time outside of their cages. Bella is only in her cage when she eats and sleeps. Stress and lack of attention can lead to very negative behavior like biting and self mutilation like feather plucking, So make sure you have a lot of time To spend with kia. Good luck!
She wont lay the egg unless im with her. She will scream her head off until i come and get her and we lay down together. I've been doing this with her for 5 years now
@dekto1995 No the egg is not fertile. She has never been with a male cockatoo. She just decides to lay an egg every month for the past 5 years now. Sometimes i get 3 a month. Its really not good for her and i am saving up money to get her the shots that will stop this.
female birds can lay eggs, but they wont hatch because they are not fertilized by the male.. this goes for the ppl that didnt know..ahem O.0 love ur bird by the way, she is so spoiled ^_^ i have a cockatiel, he loves sleeping in bed with me ^_^
I know you know this already, but for others watching this post, always be careful when helping your bird lay, pressure on their abdomen may cause the egg to fracture, which may end in death. Remember, the bird know's what she is doing, if she lets you help, you are a very special person! Just don't endanger her life in your eagerness to help. These people look experienced in what they are doing, in practice it may not be so easy.
i dont really apply pressure i kinda just gently massage her to try to comfort her a bit. this is the 62nd egg she has laid with me. thank god we have never had complications. i hear horror stories all the time. i want to see if there is a way to get her "fixed" i know egg laying takes years off theirs lives and strips them of nutrients and calcium. i don't want her life to be shortened just because she wants to lay eggs for me. she means way to much to me!
Just had a thought. Could it be that Bella lays because she enjoys her relationship with you? I saw in the previous vids how she nussles into you. Is it possible that to her, on some unconcious level, she needs to lay to feel that closeness to you? What do you think? Could she be laying to feel close to you? Do you cuddle her even if she isn't laying? Or does she even allow you to?
Yes we cuddle just about everyday. we lay on the couch and snuggle and she buries her head under mine and kinda just lays down. As for the vitamins, she gets nekton bio in her water just about daily. From what i hear the nekton bio is a great source of all vitamins for parrots. We have a great relationship. one that i wouldnt trade for anything in the world.
Thank you so much! Bella is my world! I love her to no end. She will let me know when she is ready and thats when we lay down together and i talk softy in her ear and let her know im right there for her. The few times i've been out when she laid an egg i felt terrible because you see how weak she gets.
@xoblushox sometimes i can tell even before she lets me know. She acts very tired and wants me with her non stop. If i go to put her to bed and she knows she will lay an egg that night she will scream and not stop. I have to go and get her back out of the cage and we have to lay down together. within half an hour she lays an egg. We have been together for 6 years now. She is amazing

Bacteria can penetrate the egg as it passes through the reproductive tract or as it cools once it is outside the bird's body.

BellaBear04 6 months ago 4
@xthrowdownx06 they can do that when they are in the season of "mating"
when they lay eggs without a male, eggs are empty, in chicken case those are the eggs u eat every breakfast.
in these parrot cases, they sit on empty eggs for a while, then they get bored or relaize that theres no babies in it so they stop sitting on it.
In those "mating" seasons if u get the bird a male, and they do the fuck business. eggs would be filled with babies. and u would have some baby birds.

How come when my umbrella cockatoo lays eggs, they pop out real easy, like gumballs out of a gumball machine? Is your bird not healthy? Why is laying such an ordeal? I'm concerned.

U have a great bond with ur bird I'm getin a umbrella soon and I hope I will have a good bond with her her name will be Kia like Mya with a k
sammy19red34 2 years ago
i really hope it works out with the new Baby you get. Good luck!

arent you supposed to let the bird do it itself. u wud give the bird a fright
TheSnotrag2009 2 years ago
She wont lay the egg unless im with her. She will scream her head off until i come and get her and we lay down together. I've been doing this with her for 5 years now
BellaBear04 2 years ago
Holy crap...big egg.. is it fertile?
dekto1995 2 years ago
@dekto1995 No the egg is not fertile. She has never been with a male cockatoo. She just decides to lay an egg every month for the past 5 years now. Sometimes i get 3 a month. Its really not good for her and i am saving up money to get her the shots that will stop this.

kenny230967 3 years ago

BellaBear04 3 years ago
If you keep her calcium and protien up, I don't see why laying should shorten her life, as they are the vitamins she looses through laying
verticalsmurf 3 years ago
Just had a thought. Could it be that Bella lays because she enjoys her relationship with you? I saw in the previous vids how she nussles into you. Is it possible that to her, on some unconcious level, she needs to lay to feel that closeness to you? What do you think? Could she be laying to feel close to you? Do you cuddle her even if she isn't laying? Or does she even allow you to?
verticalsmurf 3 years ago
Yes we cuddle just about everyday. we lay on the couch and snuggle and she buries her head under mine and kinda just lays down. As for the vitamins, she gets nekton bio in her water just about daily. From what i hear the nekton bio is a great source of all vitamins for parrots. We have a great relationship. one that i wouldnt trade for anything in the world.

It's so amazing that she's so comforted by you. Beautiful bird!
LeesGirl 3 years ago
Thank you so much! Bella is my world! I love her to no end. She will let me know when she is ready and thats when we lay down together and i talk softy in her ear and let her know im right there for her. The few times i've been out when she laid an egg i felt terrible because you see how weak she gets.
BellaBear04 3 years ago
How does she tell you she's ready? You guys are so close it's cool!
xoblushox 1 year ago
@xoblushox sometimes i can tell even before she lets me know. She acts very tired and wants me with her non stop. If i go to put her to bed and she knows she will lay an egg that night she will scream and not stop. I have to go and get her back out of the cage and we have to lay down together. within half an hour she lays an egg. We have been together for 6 years now. She is amazing
