  • At least it looks authentic. It's quite sobering no? Keep in mind, a soldier in WW One remained until the end. Mind you, Canadian troops were in the war years ahead of the Americans. My Great Grandfather was a private for 2 1/2 yrs in WW One. How he (or anyone survived) is beyond me. The movie War Horse is also a very good movie.

  • Kinda wish my innocent interpretation of war was never changed due to movies like this. I liked when it was nothing but video-game violence to me, but I guess we all have to face reality sooner or later

  • The fact that some of them were shot before they could even lift their feet out of the trench further proves that charging head-on is the worst battle tactic imaginable. A pity the generals never realised this...

  • @11strelokfan1000 Of course the generals realised this, the image people seem to think about trench warfare in WW1 is that it was lions (soldiers) led by donkeys (generals), but the truth is the genrals tryed everthing possible to put an end to trench warfare but there was just no alternative at the time to fighting that way.

  • @tuzza688 Maybe so, but we know every General was miles behind at the rear in some safe HQ fantasizing about victory. Some of them had been absolute Morons who didn't give an ounce of a thought what it was like, but constantly stated "The enemy will be crushed". And I believe there would be alternatives; For example, why charge Head-On? Soldiers could try encircling and flanking the enemy. That would definitely reduce casualties.

  • @11strelokfan1000 In truth many generals chose there HQ only a few miles away from the front (compared to WW2 when many generals would not even be in the same country as there forces) but its fair to say there where good generals and bad generals but you have to understand there was literally no alternative to trench warfare at the time, there was no way to "Flank your enemy" when the trench systems used would stretch hundreds of miles from belgium to the south of france/switzerland-

  • @11strelokfan1000 - And even if a side did manage to break through a weak point in the defensive lines very often the advance could only be as fast as the army could march (there was no airtransport or truck transport for food and supplies so any breakthrough would capture in many cases only mere meters of ground) and the enemy would simply fall back to another line of defense.

  • @tuzza688 Too bad air strikes weren't an option either. Advancing to attack was suicide.

  • Whats the movie called?

  • @Mrnick898 the lost battalion

  • Are these american or canadian soldiers?

  • How the fuck did we ever win this.

  • @HolyShadow180 my thoughts also,

  • I bet modern soldiers aren't even 1/2 as brave as soldiers in WW I or II

  • @EdTheBadass Thats arrogant and ignorant...your a fucking idiot...feel free to reply:)

  • @ooogaboooga172

    shut the hell up.

sloppy people like you are why this world is fucked up. Go and put your emotions in violently masturbating and never comment anything again.

  • @EdTheBadass Proves my point keyboard warrior. You have the courage to hide behind a computer screen and bash buttons at strangers, but when it really counts you're a coward.

  • @EdTheBadass War isn't a competition of bravery you disrespectful little fuck! It's a horrible place where men and women all equally brave fight and even die for the rights and protection of others whom they may never meet! All soldiers from all era's of history have been brave even to wear the uniform of their country!

  • @ooogaboooga172

how many wars have you fought?

    you goddamn internet nolifer

  • @EdTheBadass I start basic training in 8 days, so currently none. My friends and family have fought in many, how about you?

  • @ooogaboooga172

so you haven't even been IN an army.

okokok.. since I cant see evidence of anything, nor you can know if I tell the truth - let's go with this argument - back then people had less choices in life (or were less aware), therefore they had less to lose and probably could coupe with losing life easier, than spoiled modern people (who happen to serve in armies as well) Therefore we can deduce, that by default people could perform acts of bravery with less holdbacks.

  • @EdTheBadass Bravery is a spur of the moment thing, it's not about what you have to keep or lose, it's about doing what is right. Soldiers aren't robots like a lot of people think, performing acts of bravery takes decision, you dont think of holdbacks, you just think about whats in front of you. A good friend of mine lost both his legs to a landmine in Afghan, his comrade ran to retrieve him and in the process blew one of his legs off too. There isnt a difficulty scale for bravery.

  • @EdTheBadass Why you dumb cunt.

  • what a bunch of campers

  • this looks like a good movie but it should be grittier

  • @snorgus123

    why make something artificially different?

  • what is the movie called?

  • @Maggielovesummer

It's a TV movie called the lost battalion.

  • the 1903 and 1911 are cool guns

  • as we approach the 100th anniversary a friend of mine said no so long ago that, as we are all now over 18 if we were living 100 years ago that many of the guys we knew would have been killed or permanently injured and all of us would have suffered psychological trauma that would be with us for the rest of our lives. I never felt a sense of gratitude so strong as I did on the 11th November.

  • Damn this is so sad think about 10 million people DEAD in 4 years wow

  • what is this movie called please reply

  • @theninjaman5

    The lost battalion

  • @theninjaman5

  • I've been to the battlefields. The distance between the trenches is massive. No wonder so many soldiers died. What film/show is this from?
