@brooklyngurl09 Sorry but they never wanted to sound like the Jacksons. That was management. Listen to all of their later recordings and you will find that as soon as they gained any control they quickly went in a much more rock direction. They began writing their own material and playing their own instruments on their recordings. Listen to Hold Her Tight or Crazy Horses with an open mind. They wrote both and I am sure you have never heard the Jacksons sing anything like it.
@jwmellott that's Merrill and he was actually the LEAD singer of the Osmonds, everyone thinks that Donny was cause he was promoted so much as the star but its Merrill's voice that is heard as the lead on all their songs.
The boy bands of the lst few years OWE the Osmonds a big thank you as they were one of the first ones..AND they are still performing today..not to many can say that,
@redhead5150 Believe me, I was thinking almost the same thing. In my head I was saying, "are they sure they're white?" No offense intended whatsoever, but, that's the first thing that came to me when I saw them dancing.
my sister did my fucking nut in playing these records constantly looking bak i can laugh but at the time could quite easily have smashed the fuck out of her music player lol
I remember when this first song first came out. In fact, a lot of people originally thought this was Jermaine leading with Micheal backing him up. In fact, this was one of the only Osmond songs to be played on a black station. The closet thing to a Jackson song the Osmonds came out with. Oh yes, and the corner record store, actually stocked this record and they sold in our community.
Enough said...everything you said is true...we thiught it was the Jackson when we found out it was The Osmonds we were very surprised but we sang and danced to it...I brought the record...yes I brought the 45...good clean fun back then..
okay, okay, you brought a slow smile to my face...I paid 75cents for my 45 vinyl also...those were the days...thank God for memories...and thank you for the comment...these wonderful comment are what make you tube..have a great day
@P90X490104 It was originally written for J5 but their manager turned it down cause i think they said he said it was too teeny bop or somethng like that.
they was nice but its not difficult 2 compare 2 da jacksons ...they are not better den the jacksons but they can sing ...i wish i lived in da 70'z deres 14 of us all 2getha 7 guys 7 girls we couldve had a group back then lmaoo da youngest right now is 15 and the oldest is 44 lol
True it is difficult not to compare then to the Jackson 5, and they're all costumed like Elvis. In fact everybody was costumed wild in the 70s--particularly the black groups. The Beatles weirdest period was the 60s.
You're right of course since they broke up in 1070. I guess i was thinking of them as individual performers after that time. I'll restate that as the period of the wildest costumes for the Beatles was the late '60s around the time of Sgt. Pepper.
I just heard this song on an oldies station and it brought back memories. Donny is now doing "Dancing with the Stars" and a Vegas act as of Oct. 2009. It's impossible not to compare the Osmonds with the Jackson 5 and now 30 plus years later poor MJ is gone. What a shame.
they are all amazing dancers and donny is an excilent singer..i wish i was around back then because music today is terrible for teenagers my age all of them have something to do with sex,i wish they sang this stuff..
Miley was just a twinkle when they became famous in the past. Did Donny go to Dubai as well then? I know Michael went there his brother lives there and has accepted Islam now.
I heard this on an oldies station (before Donny's voice changed) Man he was tearin it up back then. Too bad he only had a couple of years of hitting those high notes.
Oh me to 'click' don't even remember much about my first Osmond experience back then too busy screaming, shouting and going totally hysterical over Donny. In Perth in June it was a whole different experience I listened and watched and just swooned over Merrill, Merrill and Merrill.
wow great dancing and live singing!
