  • another brilliant rocker by one of the best.

  • Still play this today in my 66 Cortina.... Class. Uk.

  • I never thought I would hear Jimmie Logsdon again. I remember hearing him in 1953 and I thought he was relly going places. Never quiet made it though and I can't understand why.

The song I remember were "papaya mama" and "I wanna be mama'd". He kinda dropped from radio play in our neck of the woods after that.

    Thanks for posting this *****

  • Thanks, and pleased to bring the memories back.

  • This is the best version ever made :o)

  • I'd agree!

  • My Father was Jimmy Logsdon and I have some fond memories when I was a child. He's been gone now since 2001 but his music still lives on.

  • It's a honour to feature his music on my channel.

  • que temazoooooo

  • Pretty sure the guitarist on this is Grady Martin, the REAL guitarist on most of the Johnny Burnette & His Rock 'n' Roll Trio 1956 Nashville recordings (Paul Burlison only played on the early recordings)

  • Interesting, thanks - didn't know any of that. Mr Martin appears on a lot my postings, including Helen Shapiro!

  • I think Grady Martin and Hank Garland are playing here.

The guitar break is Grady for sure.

    Floyd Kramer on piano.

  • Thanks, some serious talent!

  • My Uncle, Howard Whited, used to play guitar with Jimmie. Wonder if he's in this recording?

  • Thanks for dropping by. Love the guitar work on this song, and even more so on 'You're Gone Baby'.

  • Please, can't someone post his "Rocket In My Pocket" - one of the real great rockers of the '50s and if you have that one and "Great Balls Of Fire" no risk of dissapointing the ladies. They all gunna lööööve you. Hehe

  • Alas, I don't have a "Rocket In My Pocket"... musically speaking.

  • this guy has big ears haha

  • bm7787, and that does signify another pt being big as well as people say lol But wer'e here for the music and not any 'filth' lol

  • Love this song, has anybody else covered it ?

  • I know he wrote it under his 'other' name, Logsdon. There's a garage-punk version on Golden Rogues Collection by '68 Comeback, but I wouldn't recommend it...

  • Carl Perkins covered it in '58 for Columbia.

  • 1809....yea I know several have done it but I'm to tired to check at this moment

  • Very Nice version

  • In an interview Jimmy Lloyd says of this song that the recording studio didn't have an electronic echo, so they had the band playing in one part of the studio, and to get the echo on him they moved him out of the studio, back where the coke machine was.

  • SirBasil...Intresting trivia as I thrives totally taking tales today n' tomorrow towards the tossin n' turning in the trunk lol

  • As always...songs about Texas are the best...the piano is great...makes the song...don't know this artist...bet he's a Texan...

    Wayne down in Dallas/Ft.Worth...shoo bop....

  • ...Kentucky!
