  • pretty solid kit.

  • dont use duct tape as bandaid... it is acidic

  • a solid list, but two of them raise questions. 1 the sling shot bands, how do you attach the bands to a stick while still having enough band left to be effective. 2 the saber saw, allthough it is compact it is not light and not the most effcient, and given the rest of your gear what would you need with a 12'' log? you could not split it and that makes it tough to burn, and you don't need any thing that big to bild with.

  • @outsidersurvivor good insight, this was 2 years ago , I suppose I would choose differently as my skills and gear has changed over the years

  • number 2 a saber saw? that's not 2nd item of importance in a survival kit... unless you're trying to survive in business as a broke ass lumberjack

  • nice compact kit. i think you covered all the essentials. dont feel like keeping dry food in there? nice video too, you didnt over explain everything like alot of people do.

  • One items that people neglect is Crazy Glue. It will stitch up nasty cuts instantly, patch up many tears, strengthens knots you don't want to come loose and is flammable. I LOVE Crazy Glue.

  • Very good video. Excellent kit. I'm all about weight and you handled that superbly. Kudos.

  • seen kitchen knifes that would be better than the rat 3

  • I used a multi tool while in the ARMY INF. but only to put on and take off the blank adapter on an M60 and M240. Don't understand the purpose of one while in the woods. I would have replaced that with an extra pair of sox. Nice kit and nice bag.

  • nylon hammock my brother to get your ass off the ground or up in atree.Catches fish and stabilize your rifle to really reach out and touch that special someone.Weighs nothing!

  • what was the case that the pad of paper was on top of

  • I just made my youtube account and i have my first vid up please check it out i will have more soon

  • I got the same B.O.B pack for 911's in my car. Compact, tough & can fit a lot in it. Good vid bro

  • the bag blame is a very good idea, i use it all the time, good stuff.

  • Great video! Get a larger tin can. Or two. Roll up some copper tubing on the bottom of the tin can, then stuff your small things in the can and into your bag. they are great for boiling & collecting water/food/separating animal/plant oils/distilliation/purification/making tar & soap/refining biodiesel if possible/short stilts for passing pebbly creeks in the cold, day packs the list goes on. large tin cans are wilderness gold

  • WATER, FIRE, SHELTER, FOOD - 4 elements to a survival kit.

Steri-pen/MSR 6L Dromelite Bag - Blastmatch/Bic Lighter, WJQ-308 Etool/50' Paracord, AR7 Survival Rifle/Collapsible Fishing Rod....and the final 2 items, the Adventure medical kits bivy, and i duno a gram of meth so u can numb the pain be4 u die from trying to kill a mountain lion with a .22...i'd ditch the beads and compass. Travel at night and use the north star for guidance, no signalling because I dont need help to be saved.

  • @Wackaveli i changed my mind, no meth - id bring a speedy sharp carbide sharpener as my 10th item

  • Nice kit beast, Personally for me I cannot do the less than 20 piece kit mine has a few more than that..........I seem to need a few extra's nobody thinks about awhole lot, to me moral is very important in a survival situation, So I want to carry a couple things for that..........and then I also carry a fishing kit, and some sort of sidearm with me, thats not just for two-legged but also cougers. then I also carry a bible with me.

  • Awesome kit, Beast! I see you've been watching Dave Canterbury's channel. This kit is his Ten C's of Survival plus the redundancies with a little extra to round it out. The Bag Balm is pretty interesting, I'll have to look into that.

  • Really great video. Suggestion: everyone is including Nalgenes but they are all empty. I say load it up with more stuff. Maybe comfort items, bars & other high cal food/treats etc. You can rotate through those & restock every 6 mos or so. Doubles as a 32 oz container of food...or fill it up w/more stuff. Thoughts?

  • @darrensylvander sure, but it wouldnt work for the contest

  • @beast12101 "nothing ain't gonna get in to this bottle" XD yay american language. stay strong brother!

  • @Rifleman1964 the plastic water bottle lets you see through it, so that could be used for multiple reasons.

  • Personal opinion, change out the plastic water bottle for a stainless one so you can use it to boil water if needed. I know you have the can, but the more uses you have for each item the better.

  • 6:48 Don't put balm, lotion, cream or anything on wound. Flush with blood, if it already stop bleeding clean with sterile water, and cover with clean cloth.

You can put lotion on first degree burn(eg: sun burn) after you thoroughly cooled down the burn under fresh water.

    Item #21 first aid manual...

  • where did you buy that water bottle. i have looked a lot of places and cannot find one like that

  • @zwl230 said "where did you buy that water bottle."

REI has the nalgene bottle in multiple size and colors.

Personally i think the nalgene plastic stink and leach awful taste to the water. Try some of the stainless steel bottles. You can even boil from them. Klean kanteen are a good one.

  • I'm sure you have a full first aid kit but you forgot to show us.

  • @shortylickens69 nope, a 10 pc FAK would have taken up 10 items according to the contest, I have a bandana, bagbalm, and duct tape for first aid in this contest

  • @beast12101 My bad, I wasnt paying attention.

Seems to me a small first aid kit in a single box should only count as one item. But I guess people would abuse it.

I would rather see a contest where you try to make a kit thats under 10 pounds or fits in a 3000cc container, since thats more applicable to real survival than a specific number of items.

  • @beast12101 if i may add first aid kits are somewhat overrated if you carry items with multipurpose functions you benefit more than carrying a 50p aid kit vasuline starts fire waterproofs wounds lubricates skin and lips.cotton bandana acts as a covering or a container as well as char cloth and a bandage duct tape is king! if i may suggest instead of para cord you should give bank line a try, all in all your kit is great glad to see someone else adding common sense in there kit great work brother

  • First aid kit

  • why dont you bring a coffie pot while your at it?

  • thank you for the fast repliew i must of watched this video like 20 times by now its very straight foward and simple great job

  • do you think the falkniven f1 is better than the rc 3

  • @campinggear1 nope

  • @campinggear1 nope

  • @beast12101 is there a certain reason

  • @campinggear1 its what iv used, I have no experience with the F1, I love the way the Rat3 carries

  • @beast12101 why don't you daisy chain your paracord?

  • @thenegev77 not needed

  • This is not a survival kit. This is a backpacking pack minus food. gotta remember, you're not gonna carry 2 packs. That all is just extra weight.

  • This is not a survival kit. This is a backpacking pack minus food.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I have done some survival training. I did it in FL during the middle of summer (long sunshine days, BRIGHT as hell with no tree cover, shade, and I had to be face up towards the sun for extended periods of time) I longed for eye protection. It can be useful not only for sun eye protection but also to prevent injury when using tools. In a SHTF situation doctors may not be able to help remove debris. In my shtf bag I keep a pair of discount sunglasses.

  • i didnt see a tent in the video.. If your really surviving in the wilderness i would suggest a good 2 person tent. Would only take a room as much as 2litre water bottle. Much faster getting shelter up than building your own.

Ofc if your just camping then building your own shelter is considered a fun thing to do..

  • I really do like that sling shot bands that was a awesome idea. People forget such a simple weapon can be really effective against small game.

  • All I gotta say is WOW.. Wow indeed. very nice. I liked this vid a lot

  • #1bag,#2knife,#3boot knife,#4a mug,#5sleeping bag,#6 a gun, with 300rounds,#7 550 foot of ropeor parecord,#8axe,#9 a hand heled cb raido,#10 first-aid kit,#11 Mre's,.....

  • One tip...At any Home Depot you can buy a collapsable varmit trap. These traps can handle a grown racoon or possum...good eats. They fold up flat and I strap mine to my alice-pack frame...very lite (2lbs.). Set it at bed, and you will have breakfast 90% of the time. They work awesome!! To kill the mighty beast...take it down to the water supply,- deeper than the cage of course, and let teh little fucker have a swim. Count to 4minutes and season to taste! Or you have portable fresh meat! G-Luck!

  • @bladeguy7 i just went on a 18 day expedition my nalgene fell out of my canoe in white water it survived and i found it also it fell of a 15 foot cliff full of water and didnt break and i stood on it im 200 hundred pounds

  • @bladeguy7 i just went on a 18 day expedition my nalgene fell out of my canoe in white water it survived and i found it also it fell of a 15 foot cliff full of water and didnt break

  • hahahaha i threw a nalgene water bottle against the ground today.... it cracked in three places. NOT indestructible.

  • @bladeguy7 the newer BPA free bottles? or an older one.

  • @beast12101 yea you know it would have to be 5 years old, I swear by nalgene step on them bring out with me hunting for snacks and in the cold they don't crack. so that guy must be talking about an old one for sure.

  • @bladeguy7 Wow interesting day you had.. lol

  • @bladeguy7 why did you throw?

  • NIce-- a really decent kit. Very well thought out. Personally I would opt for a light hand-axe instead of the chain saw, but I understand your thinking. Also, the blast match is great, but having a backup ferro rod/magnesium bar, or even a small gas lighter is a good idea in very cold or wet weather. It is amazing how fast you will fall in love with a small lighter when it is snowing and -10 degrees farenheit, and windy with 2 feet of snow on the ground. :-)

    Keep up the good work.!

  • Great kit! About how much did the equipment run you total?

  • Thanks for all the great tips... and knowledgeable opinions on gear. Having experienced being lost in the back country for 2 days, I have to say there probably isn't one item in your kit I would leave behind now... and only 6 lbs. Wow! Great job. Thanks again.

  • @roybofmn thanks

  • Great video ! Great ideas...

  • wheres the cell phone and kitchen sink

just in case you need to call someone that knows what their doing while washing your socks wtf

  • wheres the cell phone and kitchen sink

  • Do u guy even try this crap out

  • @blkwulff absolutly, what part dont you think would work?

  • @blkwulff You have to remember this was for a contest, it will always depend on the enviroment you use the gear, so everyone is slightly different.so I encourage you to make a video with 20 items you would bring for at least a week in the woods, 20 individual pieces, so a 10pc first aid kit would take 10 of your choices.

  • That kit wood not survive 72 inthe real woods my girlfriend purse got more that that

  • @blkwulff let see your video

  • @blkwulff dude if you know your stuff, like beast does you can survive a decent amount of time in the woods with very minimal gear. You clearly do not know what you are talking about since you think that someone who keep in mind has alot of knowledge could survive with this kit. If you know who dave canterberry is (probaly not since it seems like your not very knowledgeable with survival) he says he can survive with a firesteel and a knife.. thats it. Also i would like to see your video too.

  • 3:15 a bear would get in there! :p

  • good kit, i would put the duck tape round the nalgene, cody style, you can look into why he does that,

my kit would be a lot bigger than that if i was planning for a long stay, is this meant to be an emergency kit? bug out? carry everywhere ?

  • Nice video

  • lol on the bottle he said" it can kepp food away from OTHER animals" Nice we r animals

  • cool. all that for how much? seems expensive

  • nice video well designed

  • Very nice survival kit and only 6 LBS.Great job.

  • you rock man

  • bull dozer!? you're kidding me right?!

  • Where did you get RAT 3?

  • @C2T100 surplus store

  • @beast12101

    Thanks- And the silponcho?

  • @C2T100 REI, its made by integral designs in canada

  • what type of compass was that

  • @usnavysealsguy cammenga military compass

  • 10 people will die in a survival situation !!!!

  • Hope you have an opportunity to answer this: Is the Bivy reusable, or do you have to dispose of it after one or two uses? Thank you! And I LEARNED from your video since you obviously speak from experience.

  • @shysterlicious you get about 6 good uses out out it, a lot of times I just put it over the end of my bag to keep dry when using a tarp, but if you go full bivy with it, 6 easy. depends on if you are on rocks or have a ground sheet to protect it

  • great video!

  • The reason your bottle did not fully crush when run over is because it had fluid in it. Fluid will not compress, and while the top could blow off, if the threads are strong enough to hold the force then it may as well be a concrete cylinder.

  • Great vid. Loads of good advice

  • Great kit compilation. I would add a couple small items for my own design. A can or two of vienna saugages, maybe a tin or two of sardines. A small can of saltines. This would feed you for maybe two days, just enough for you to find local food without starving. It would last for years in the kit and doesen't weigh much.

  • Great video!! i like how u explained everything one by one and i like how all of your items have multiple uses. Over all very good kit and video!

  • Wheres is your lights saber?

  • The only way to destroy a nalgene is to put it on a fire 216• or more

  • @survivalkiing haha i cant believe how many people think nalgenes are indestructible, at one piont i did also but a 65 foot cliff proved me wrong(its a funny story)

  • @M0RTaLK0MBaT68 the newer bpa free seem more fragile, but I had an older one that was run over by a fork lift flatten out, but still held water and you could unscrew it, Id say that pretty darn good

  • bandana can be used for snowblindness

  • you should sell it lol. cool setup!

  • Wow man this is a great kit. better than average. I reccommend upgrading to either a smaller head lamp or a quark (or similar) tactical flash light, less wight more options for signaling and other light options. I also reccommend iodine tablets. I think the sharpener is a luxury (and I AM a knife freak) Sling shot band....WOW putting it in my kit. Bag balm, fire starting and antiseptic, LOVE IT, putting it in my kit. NICE JOB man

  • Im sorry dude but you can Not run a nalgene bottle over with a bulldozer. I have SEEN them break, but you are absolutely correct that they are strong enough to survive in the wilderness.

  • Melting down the screwdriver????????? Wow Ambitious. :(

  • Very nice video sir! Only thing I would changed would have been the whistle. Multipurpose is a survivors friend! lol Coulda gotten one of those compas/whistle/water proof capsule in one deals. Still though great pack! Thanks for the video!

  • how much would the whole kit run you if you bought them?

  • wher did you get the saber saw?

  • @thedude00121 rei

  • lier i can drop that bottle in a valcano and it would melt so what now

  • I carry food also i have a simular pack with molle atatchment and in a pouch is food

  • Thank you for sharing this - however, I must point out that the intermittent use of "Umm" is very distracting to your audience.

  • great vid. but why don't you use the stainless steel nalgene bottle? you can put it in the fire and boil water for desinfection

  • @imhosaibabaischeatin you could , but for the contest you had to own the items, I didnt have one at the time

  • Y doesnt any kit ever have food? I have a small backpack that fits in a pack pack with mostly related things and food

  • @survivalkiing "Y doesnt any kit ever have food?" - 'cause it's a survival kit. As long as you still have food, it's called camping. The survival kit is supposed to save your ass when things get out of hand. Things like fishing hooks fall under the category of survival kit, food falls under the category of camping/outdoor equipment.

  • Tthe saber saw is NOT a good bit of kit dont rely on it IT IS NOT calorie efficient for that buy a good ax or machete and keep it sharp "if given 6 hours to cut down a tree first spend 4 hours sharpening your ax" quote by Abraham Lincoin use the saber saw as a last resort only when prepping for the S.H.T.F you must buy an ax/machete PEACE & LOVE to all

  • where did you get the bivvy?

  • @KnifesForUs rei

  • my survival kit contains 2 items. A cell phone and a rope. If my calls dont go through for help, im prepared to hang myself lol

  • if you've got more space, you should put in some water purification tablets.

    the katadyn ones are nice.

  • you could also give yourself a enema with the slingshot rubbers l

  • Definitely a good solid kit! Sensible useful items! and only 6kg great job!

  • one of the best kits ive ever seen great job

  • you could make a bow with 1 or 2 of your paracord strands. its not that hard really, all you have to know is what trees offer strength and an ability to spring back, then you just go to town on shaping a very basic bow. find a straight stick, maby even some feathers, or leaves to use as guides. you dont particularly need arrow heads, but you could make some out of the coffee can and some more nylon from the paracord. ive made a paracord bow, there not retail, but they will work for most game.

  • @WaagooshTheRedFox here, i found a basic tut online, easy enough for my sister to do it.

    watch?v=Izuo-45rVNs&feature=related

thats for all you couch commando's out there, do somthing more than play COD all day. thanks.

  • you could run that over with a bull doser and it would break ill put money on it ....

  • @johnbarryism we had run one over at the shipping yard by a large forklift and it still held water, it wasnt round anymore, but still worked

  • whoo bag balm, no seriously, good job

  • Solid system. You see alot of home made kits that have ridiculous item, nail clippers, sharpies.

    Solid!

  • Nice bag and I love the bottle I have one really great.....

  • I would carry a canteen and canteen cup for my bottle

  • can that knife cut down a small tree

  • @dhudson369 sure, but the saber does a better job

  • Great survival kit. I have been looking at a lot of these of late on the web. 72.org and the like. You are the first one to put a poncho, water container and "real" knife and saw that would actually save your life.

Also I love the whistle. You can use one way longer than your voice can hold out from yelling.

  • Great kit. I like the intergration of the Nalgene bottle. Please take a look at my GHB and give me some feedback and subscribe so I can refine in different way. Thanks. Cheers.

  • I Would Like To See A Real Gun. They Make a Lightweight Collapsable (floating) .22 survival rifle. This Would Take You Straight from Trying to Whitle Ineffective Snares and Traps and Harpoons and actually putting Food On The Table The First Day. And U need A Real Mini Fishing Poll. SOLID FOOD Production. And Don't forget a Jar of Peanut Butter

  • and btw, extreme props on the psychological point of havving fire. You are the first person on youtube that i have ever heard state the fact that you cant survive if you give up. great props man:) you rule

  • @emosplinter thanks, I believe your referring to a triangle bandage, very useful. look into the SWAT-T pressure tourniquet, basically a big rubber band, very popular right now with Field medics and first responders.

  • @beast12101 That is indeed what i was refering to. :) and i know their using that rubber band thingy, but the reason a sling shot thing wouldnt work is becuz you cant tie it off correctly. you could twist it up all you want, but you cant finish it off. and i really like the video by the way. some people say things like you dont need this or that, but you do need it for the psychological comfort. if you had a kid with you and all you had was survival gear, that kid would tie you down. props man:)

  • U wouldn't want to use the sling band for a turniquette... And ull need a gun and a knife

  • @emosplinter why wouldnt the sling band work, have you ever tried it? there is a rat3 and a leatherman surge,

  • @beast12101 it works, but nt nearly as well as a bandana... if you look at a trauma first aid kit, you wont find a sling shot-like-band-tourniquette because when you tie a tourniquette you want it to stay, the rubber band thing wont stay very well, you will however find a bandana-like cloth.(i forget what its called) but it has the use of a tourniquette and MUCH MUCH more. and i didnt see the rat3 and leatherman surge... sorry. :) good pack though:)

  • @emosplinter you dont need a gun, you just need to learn self defense and how to make traps

  • nice vid fits with what i know my kit is some what larger but it is for two

  • I like your kit. I have the heatsheets bivy too and it is awesome. Saved my arse on several very chilly NC mtn nights.

  • This kit obviously was well thought out and includes all the essentials. Bravo

  • nice kit.

but i wud have putted 1-2 dryd army meals in it they are not big and if u dont catch anny thing it wood be nice to have!

  • awesome! I think aluminum foil is a must but given u have a coffie can, it pretty much changed my mind... nice kit

  • I'd rather swing an axe then manually wire saw a log...for saving calories.

  • WOW, excellent. i'd say it's a matter of opinion as to what limited things are musts, but this opinion is very good.

  • how much did the parcord cost you for that length

  • at first i thought that poncho was a sausage

  • @treehouseman3thats a great idea ! i think sausage should be included in every survival kit !

  • wouldnt it be more efficent if you used the same container to boil water as to drink from?

  • @JACMAN02 sure but not greatt for transporting it

  • Very nice kit! Some of the people commenting do not understand that a survival-kit is something very personal and very specific to the area you will most likely use it in.

I do not know if you own any other knives, but if you do I don't understand why you didn't include a more substantial blade (5-6" or more). For a one blade-ordeal I'd understand, but you have the leatherman for fine work. Would be hard(er) splitting logs etc. with the rat.

    Best wishes from Norway.

  • this is what most of the stuff in my survival kit came from

  • Thumbs up.

Nice kit, Sir and good explanations. One question however: How do you get such a flat pack of ducttape? Wherever I find ducttape it has some carbord roll inside and somehow I have not figured out how to remove that inner roll. So my ducttape always takes up a lot of space. Any advice?

    Best regards

    silk

    ;-))

  • @blacksilkblacksilk re wrap it onto an old credit card or hotel key

  • You don't remove the cardboard inner roll, what you do is find something sturdy like an old plastic card. Then wrap the tape around it to the desired thickness, that way you get a "flat" roll of tape.

  • to me the chain saw is a waste of energy.Preffer to carry an axe.Can use it as a weapon also.

  • m16 assault rifle weighs about that much.

  • Nice Vid. Id change a few things since we all do things our own way. Id use a fallkniven A1 sized knife instead of smaller one for battoning better, but you lost small dexterity use compared to the RC3. Id swap bandana for a shemagh for full head covering ability. And saw id use the sawvivor brand 18". very light could be used one hand maybe. Fan of the bagbalm, good idea, I like tarp/poncho large size and slingshot another great idea. Thanks for video.

  • @LKN4WAR thank, all good suggestions. the rules for the contest is you had to own the items.

  • god 5th time watching it and it still seems perfect but he should change the blastmatch to the strike force. It has a twice as big ferrocium rod. and its a little safer in my opinion

  • I didn't see a way of purifying water?
