That's not at all what Dr. James White was saying there... Dr. White was saying that because of their traditions, especially secular governmental traditions, and the lack of religious freedom, that it's easy for you today to look back and say "Oh well this was wrong and that was wrong" but without being there and raised in that time period your frame of reference or your own traditions skew your understanding of what was really going on and how people understood things back then.
Oh the desperation found among the non Reformed. How sad it is that people like you resort to distortions. If only us Reformed folk could find honest people to debate.
This is a disgraceful misrepresentation Dr. White and you should be ashamed of yourself for resorting to these sick measures.
You couldn't hold a candle to James White's knowledge of scripture and the reformation. This video is the evidence of it. Instead of making untruthful videos you should spend time in actual Bible study and then onto your knees in repentance.
You have totally misunderstood what he was saying. He wasn't saying that we need traditions in order to understand the Bible. He was simply making the point that the early Reformers brought a lot of old baggage with them when they came out of Rome, including the magisterial way of doing things. He was also pointing out that we all have traditions (i.e. ways in which we view things in the Bibe) and we have to make sure that those traditions are actually in line with what at the Bible says.
Once again, you are so breathtakingly arrogant, it beggers belief! Arrogance is always unattractive in a young person, but that young person doesn't have a clue what they are talking about it is twice as unattractive. Please ask the Lord to help you to develop a bit of humility. You are make a complete fool of yourself.
It seems that elitists such as the person who made this video have no humility and take what people say out of context just to argue for the sake of arguing.
There are things in the bible that are difficult to understand and other things which seem to be quite plain. I have listened to both Dr White and Mr Hunt a number of times as they have discussed their biblical views. I think scripture should be rightly divided and lived out with practical power. Approach the scriptures with intelligentsia only and you can miss it's power, approach it without reason or thought and you are in danger of cultic behaviour. Reformed theology has value and error to
Dr. White was commenting on the tradition which refuted the papist twisting of the Scriptures in those days, which grew out of some of those within the church itself going back to the Scriptures to see what they actually said, as God put forth, not as man changed - the population was mainly confined to what the papist regime taught, and it was through a return to the doctrines of the apostles and their Lord by certain clerics that we have a tradition of reading and understanding the bible.
This is completly ridiculous.....honestly??? Now I don't agree with a lot of what Dr. White says, but for goodness sake's this is just unbelievable....
Excuse me, but...you have GOT to be kidding? How could you so completely miss the point, especially when I have defended the perspicuity of the Bible for over twenty years? Is there any particular reason why you insist upon such gross misrepresentation, sir?
No, David needs to listen to what Dr. White has to say so he can stop misrepresenting what White says. It's really sad when Christians can't even follow what someone else is saying. Non-believers laugh at Christians because of people like David.
You either didn't understand Dr White or did not want to: he didn't say we can't know the Bible unless by tradition - he said that the reformers were fresh out of Rome and failed to understand it at once.
If it had not been for the magisterial Reformation you'd still be superstitious papists. So chill out and learn some humility.
I read some of Dave Hunts literature and he never attacked the followers of the Church of Rome. Most were illiterate, we will all be held accountable for what we know. So what did those prior to recent history know? Those who took on the powers of the c. church were heros that sacrificed their lives and comforts that most of us would hesitate because of family concerns, but does that make us cowards? Hardly, and I doubt that Dave H would disagree as well, even in these difficult times.
"IF" you were to listen carefully to what he is saying, you would realize that the title of this video is FALSE!. Shame on you.

James White is very ANTI TRADITIONS. He was talking about Dave Hunt, not himself. The guy who made this video is just plain silly.

This is a hilarious waste of time. You're worse than Mormons at taking things out of context.
