  • It came as no surprise at all to me. Nova snatched up prime locations, bolstered by unqualified staff... Am I the only one that would walk by a Nova and wonder how they stayed in business??? Teaching English in Japan is a not for people wanting to make a comfortable living, it's for guys that want to party and nail broads. Find a real job in Japan if you want to enjoy life.

  • You gotta it!!! Nova going under is one of the funniest thing I've saw since the "Great Depression"?? Japanese people are figuring out that you don't have to listen to these mcSenseis to learn English. Thank you KARMA!! What goes around comes around.

  • @LuckyDeviI you're right lucky, teaching english in Japan just for people who want to see Japan and party. It is not something you should rely on for a career. Did the people who barely had any money left ever hear of budget management or saving for emergencies?

  • NOVA=ENRON

  • So sorry to know that you got involved in this situation. I was reading the news about NOVA which is financially collapsed...

  • Yes it was a pretty shitty thing to happen financially for us, but I'm much better off not working for them now. I've got a few privates together and more time to spend with my family. Next year will be much more fun I hope. Thanks umineko.

  • maybe you should sell your CAR or stop drinking Asahi and get a Sake One Cup instead. It appears to me you are in a much better situation than most. Hence your whinging falling on my deaf ears.

  • So good of you to comment, and some good money saving ideas as well. Yes I am in a much better position than most, thanks to the love and affection of my family in Japan.

  • Solidarity brother. check out my Japan vids too.

  • i work at nova in tokyo and i spent the whole of today going around to get answers-there is no one who can give me any answers! if we continue working, we will be waiting for a long time for pay-just like the staff have. this company has no respect for employees whatsover. my teiki has also run out yet they expect me to go to work and pay my own money.

im really eager to hear what people in other areas of japan, working for nova think about this. please email me and let me know.

    chris

  • NOVA is very hard to take seriously. They fuck/fucked/will fuck teachers ovwer at any opportunity as well as students. I hoep Sahashi commites suicide. He is a loser.

  • nova sucks

  • This is going to be the biggest scandal in Japan for a bankruptcy since the second world war and lot of different countries will be involved.

I imagine the shame Japan will have to face for this will push the government to assure the 100% of the unpaid wages...hehe! hope so!

Good luck for you and for all in Japan.

  • Hi! I am a spanish teacher in the MMC. I`ve read and seen lots of things about all our present situation but yours is by far the best and the most mature. From now on we must press the government to pay us all what is owed.

  • Thanks! Great honest video. I wish you the best of luck making the transition out of Nova.

  • Thanks very much, the transition is under way. My last day of work is tomorrow, and I am already feeling more relaxed. I can get back to the scheduled program of study and haiku.

  • You know alot of us that work for other companies laugh about the situation cause Nova has always sucked. But I really am sorry that you have to go through this. Thanks for the video. If you need help finding another job send me a message and I'll have the company I work for get ahold of you

  • Thanks for the support, I'm out on extended leave from Wednesday. I think it's going to be easier to tough it out and fight for my pay, from the comfort of home ;-)

  • rainbow - good stuff. We won't be getting payed - allegedly - until the 19th of October as you may know. I called into work saying that I'm not going in due to the pay situation. I also wrote Nova hq certified mail, telling them to pay me on time. Good luck, and since you have a family, you have my sympathy.

  • Thank you bluenote71, I'm off extended leave from Wednesday. I don't know too many who are going in to work this week. I doubt we will see any money on the 19th either, if ever. All the best for you too.

  • I hope things work out for you...

  • Thanks PJ, it means a lot.

I just told my AAM and the branch staff that I would be taking emergency leave as of next Wednesday. They all understand that it can't be helped. It was pretty hard to teach my kids today, I may not get a chance to see them again.

  • I can only imagine how hard it must be. It's a cliche but I really believe it, "What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger." You'll get through this. Ganbatte ne.

  • Thank you for documenting your experience and sharing it.

  • Thanks for watching, kokorodes, I was inspired by your videos and I thought that people need to see this side of the debacle. At the very least, the process of posting on it is helping me let off steam.
