Car driver's fault for trusting a turn signal and not waiting to see if the trike rider was actually turning there. Sometimes people don't even realize their turn signal is still on and other times they realize that they don't want to turn in that place and that they actually need to turn into a place farther down the road. This is why I NEVER pull out in front of someone like that until I know that they're actually turning.
@CR125MANIAC Not an excuse to just pull out though. Just because a car/motorcycle has its indicator on does not mean they intend to turn, they may just not realise its left on.
@CR125MANIAC Difference in opinions here. I've lost count on how many times I have forgotten to switch my indicator off on a Motorcycle (honest mistake made by thousands) and also in my car.
@CR125MANIAC explain how much more he could have been aware of a car about to smack his side just as hes ontop of the junction hes passing?and even 15mph you would be able to avoid a crash, there was a car on the bikers right side, so could go that way
It is hard to spot unless you know it's there, if you follow it from the start of the vid. it was not the best quality camera in the world only 640x480 , the indicator goes off just as the trike gets to the junction- just. but in the film now you mention it I dont see the car's brake lights come on either and he stopped pretty sharpish. I guess the camera was not good with red (?)
up to 0.42/44 the trike has left hand indicator on they only cancel when upon the junction....been there done that been a trike rider sorry but it aint all the car drivers fault ??...and i dont have a car licence always rode bikes/trikes sorry but its as it is : (
Indicator left on or not the car driver is still at fault he should have waited to make sure!!! But watching this it does make me a bit sick knowing I leave the indicator on my bike sometimes!!!
its not the bikers fault like so many are saying.........yes he left his indicator on but if you all cast your mind back to when you past your test (if you did) the instuctor always taught you to not pull out just because someone is indicating just incase they have forgoten to cancel there signal........this is the reason why....yes the biker didnt help having his signal left on but its not a illegal thing to do.
Yes the trike made a mistake, but just because you have your turn signal on doesn't mean car should pull out in front of you while you are going 20+ mph. Car still gets the ticket here. Failure to yield
If anyone has ridden a motorcycle before they will know that when you indicate on a motorcycle, you do not hear *tick tock tick tock* like you do in a car, nor does your indicator self cancel. It can also be difficult to cancel your indicator whilst wearing a pair of thick gloves, so even if you think it has been cancelled, it may not have been. Please show some respect.
@danagol1985 that's because the car driver was stupid enough to believe the blinker, and bikes have manual switches, unlike cars. plus if the driver saw the blinker, shouldn't he also see the trikes actuall path of travel? And when it get's down to it, car's fault anyway, pulling out into traffic, causing the collision.
@plazmanian Actually, no. I have both, but I generally prefer bikes. However in this situation I feel that the biker on the trike was in the wrong for cancelling his indicatior too late, misleading other traffic.
I believe it was this misleading action that invoked the accident.
Catch fucking 22. How many times do you see an indicator on and ask yourself is this goose really going to make the turn or do I sit here. How many times do you see somebody pass you and then turn into a driveway beyond where you had the foresight to remain stationary.
I've almost done this, only I was on a bike and almost hit a pensioner's Micra - she was doing 2mph and indicating to turn into the road I was pulling out of. I look for oncoming traffic, nothing, set off and get a "STOP!" over the bike-to-bike radio - the silly cow wasn't turning off and almost ended up with me through her windscreen.
Must say if I was on the trike I'd be kicking myself - just asking for trouble leaving your indicators on. Doesn't excuse Mondeo Man (or myself) though.
the Mondeo guy probably saw the motor-tricycle (thats why he didnt pull out at 1st), but then he saw the indicator and thought the trike was turning, so he pulled out without taking a 2nd look. Both are to blame here i think
@09feb1992 ud think so but misuse of blinkers (unless u dont use them when u turn not using them but not turning) are very rarely taken into considering...especially considering the cage driver was leaving a ?parking lot? (i think thats what it looks like) so hed be 100% at fault, a long time ago when i was in my car (probably the only day i drove a car and not a bike thank god) i was leaving a parking lot and one guy stopped and waved me out...
@thrasha666 Yeah, but if the Trikist didn't have his indicator on, the collision probably wouldn't happen..i know in court and stuff the motorist is to blame because the trikist could of easily said he didnt have his indicator on.
@09feb1992 and some guy driving on the wrong side of the road doing at least 60 in a 40 plowed into me and the cop said i was at fault because "i was leaving a parking lot and should be aware of all things at all times" but a court day and 1500 in lawyers fees later the judge favored me and turned it around on the other guy, but that was an extreme case...since the trike wasnt doing anything wrong, its the cages fault since he was entering a road from a parking lot
Well captured, just as well you had the camera footage. And seeing as the D@@k head in the car had bikes on the roof, you would of thought they would of been more aware of bikes.
Ive always been with the Bikes and against the cars but i goto admit this time i think the indicator on the trike was the cause, im not totally against the car on this one to be honest.
The mondeo driver looks like garry glitter :o ... ride safe guys im recovering as we speak from retarded white van man not lookin both ways...my poor bike :(
yes it was a bit silly for the trike rider (or driver, i dont know which one to use in this case) to leave their indicator on, however, this does not excuse the Mondeo driver pulling out like that, I failed my driving test for almost exactly the same thing, except without the crash, The car driver was deffinately in the wrong here
I Hate those fucking morons in their 4 wheels cage turning in front of a bike/trike. BUT this time, I agree with "bikedemon99". Just cancel your f'ckin indicator, then you will not confuse anyone.
yea good comment. if you look at 0:18 the two cars oncoming on the other side of the raod waiting to turn off the main raod saw him and waited. This left the trike nowhere to go though. Note: None of the other car drivers stuck around after the accident, despite the trike, rider and passenger left sitting in the middle of the road.

Too long didn't read: never trust indicators.

the moral of the story make sure you cancel your signal after turning or you might create a little confution to other road users .

Both to blame here, carelessness from the trike rider.. and impatience ( or sheer blindness ) from the Mondeo driver
Car drivers don't LOOK for motorcyclists.. they might have seen you... BUT have they made a mental note the answer is NO..
