  • 10/02/1980 in Eulachhalle Winterthur (Suisse) I was there ! nostalgic memories..

  • Toto... I don't think we're in Kansas anymore...

  • This is so great, my favourite Rainbow song, i can only dream of being there when they played live in 77...but what a dream that would be!

  • cinco idiotas que no saben un culo de puta madre!!!

  • Saw this Rainbow line-up in Summer 77' or 78' in Baton Rouge, LA. Fantastic!!!! From beginning to end they were going 100mph+. They surpassed my expectations in every category. My ears are still ringing, and I'm still in awe of musicians like these guys. After seeing them nothing else really compared and I've seen many bands in my time. I'll never forget it. Blackmore forever!!

  • Let's face it. People just cannot dislike this video. They just dislike that they cannot play guitar as Ritchie. Epic Ritchie is epic!!!

  • my best, favorite video in all you tube ...Dio is Dio , Dio 4 ever

  • magical fingers of Ritchie..

  • A band to reckon with! RIP R.J. Dio. You will be missed.

  • Ronnie James Dio Good Vocalist !

  • Comment removed

  • Mind blowing. This band was absolutely on fire, and Dio CRUSHED.

  • Hard to believe Dio can sing just that damn well LIVE, fucking awesome.

  • I remember moshing to this song watching a Dio tribute band at the HOB in Anaheim it was so epic and amazing! Dio!

  • Taste in music is subjective.. But for bands like Rainbow, or Rush or Queen there cannot be a dislike button.

  • I watched The W. O. O. the other day & have been thinking of this since,we must be over the rainbow - rainbow - rainbow....Cozy !

  • Brilliant!!! I saw Rainbow when the came to Sydney around the time of this concert. Blew me away then and still does now.

  • awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4 people have never seen a rainbow

  • this so brillant ,

  • i just jizzed!

  • this is killer!!! CAN you get this on DVD???? RIP RONNIE, WE LOVE YOU!!!

  • Ronnie James Dio : THE VOICE, PERIOD.

  • I actually like that keyboards were more prevalent in Rainbow's live shows. The studio recordings lacked them too much, I think.

  • Too much keyboard washing out the guitar/ Dio can cut through it, Ritchie can't

  • This whole concert is superb, the band at their finest. Brilliant musicianship. It's the best Rainbow line up. This is my favourite Rainbow song.

  • Fuck Graham Bonnet!

  • Masters workshop!!!

  • man this is just awesome rip dio and powell

  • Es war einmal und ist nicht mehr - Hard Rock zu seiner besten Zeit

Hard Rocker die noch Musiker waren.

  • Uh oh.... Did I catch Ritchie smiling for a moment? lol

  • Oh, if only this DVD contained "Stargazer" and "A Light in the Black"! (I saw them on this tour on one of the rare nights that they played both.) Still, it's a killer show.

  • the start was somewhat distorted, but the overall performance was great. The sound was so similar to a power metal band, which is great because the CD version(studio) was so 60's like. This version sounds more modern and still keeps its essence.

  • Freakin masterclass. Saw this at Preston Guildhall age14 - blew me away!

  • Fan-fucking-tastic. Dio, Powell and Blackmore. Great.

  • The Only God I see in this video is Ronnie....Rock in Peache

  • Ronnie James Dio was one of the best rock singers of all time. The difference between him and most other rock vocalists: he possessed the talent, the voice and the control to excel live. A VERY rare occurrence in rock!

  • Rainbow might have sold more records with Bonnet or JLT, but musically they were at their best with Dio on vocals.

  • the 3 dislikes need Red Forman's foot in there ass

  • The mighty RIO Blackmore Powell on one stage. I wish Blackmore's ego wasn't the size of the milky way but... We'd have had no Heaven and Hell if Blackmore wasn't so Blackmoreish. I've seen him 10-15 times though and he's always been a pro onstage !

  • Might like it a little better if Tony Carey were on Keyboards....

  • I saw this show when they toured Australia. The memories came flooding back.

Why are people comparing RJD to Mercury? Freddie hasn't got a chance. He needs to get past Halford and Dickenson first.

  • Ritchie was that guy that was on 20% of the time and sucked the other 80 but became a God never understood??? Schenker Roth on 99% of time ate his lunch.

  • 3 dislikes!? Are you people from other planet?

  • @Senseless2007 i bet it was the jonas brothers. all 3 of them.

  • @Senseless2007 i hate comments related to the like/dislike bar but this one made me laugh out loud :D

  • No its not the best version featured tony carey on keyboards

  • Blackmore = GOD

  • Great performance....This had to be in the Fall of '77, as I saw the same lineup in September '77 at the Nurnberg Mezzecentrum. The opening act was a band called Kingfish.

  • If I had a time machine, the first thing I would do is to see this performance! DIO - man seriously listen to that voice - it has so much magic and power, it is simply not from this world! R.I.P DIO, we all miss you:(

  • Thedefinition of the term "guitar hero" in the dictionary should carry the picture of Ritchie Blackmore on its side.

  • I can't believe I still have this album.... vinyl, that is. :)

  • Is this from the DVD? Where can i buy it?!

  • Why the slide solo when the original is so great?!

  • Dio has died and gone to Heaven with his son...Jesus Christ

  • @satanicherpes dio was a great singer and is my favorite but he was a man just like the rest of us.he is not god.

  • @oiddio1 Obviously you're brainwashed by 'the man', God isn't some mystical figure, it's men who rise above normal standards opposed to those that cannot reach such feats to where they influence the masses...So fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @satanicherpes hey man.why have you got to use bad language ?i didnt not curse you.i will pray for your soul.merry christmas.

  • Dude, when I hear his voice it gives me chills, his voice was so brutal, magical, elegant, brutal, majestic all at the same time. I love Klaus Meine, Rob Halford and Robert Plant, but this is just insane!

  • Why that intro sounds so different live?

  • ALL HAIL THE GREAT DIO!!!!

  • Kick-ass early Rainbow. YEAH! Ronnie James Dio, we salute you

  • Kick-ass early Rainbow. YEAH!

  • Ritchie is the best axeman \,,/_

  • i still cant believe DIO is me and my dad biggest influences. guess good parenting.

  • BLACKMORE,DIO AND POWEL IS A MACHINE!!!

  • .

Good Old Blackie & Dio! ;o)

  • ディオ ちょ〜かっこいい!!

  • I had just discovered the Dio when he passes away...he got his own chant a the Iron Maiden concert in Vancouver as well...he was awesome. I know that doesn't do him justice...but its all I got. May the Powers that be Rest Him.

  • IMMORTAL

  • long live rock n roll DIO, we miss you wherever your performance is now, see you soon and don't talk to strangers,

  • What a Voice!!!What a Band!!!\m/\m/

  • Ronnie & Cozzy reunited. R.I.P. to those great individuals,God gifted musicians.Rock their world guys!!

  • this is the best rainbow live dvd ive ever brought much better than the later versions with bonnet and turner after dio left the band it started getting more and more commercial if blackmore wasnt in the band with bonnet or turner it would have been like a pop band anyway it was 2am when the band started somehow dio and ritchie got the audience behind them and created an atmosphere that is rarely felt nowadays with all the modern tech at modern musicians disposal ritchie dio and cozy =legends

  • @shredmaster100 hell fucking yeah man fuck binnet and turner dio and blackmore and cozy are the best!

  • カッチョイイー

    すげー豪華メンバーだよ~ん

    もう二度観られないメンバーだ。

    貴重な映像ありがとうございました。

    確か、このライブ盤高校生の時持っていたような気がする。

    レインボー最高。Good!

  • THE voice!

  • Ive read somewhere that because Blackmore arrived late at this concert people thought they were going to cancel the show and only 250 people stayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the best DVD Ive ever owned

  • Le talent ne devrait jamais mourir. Merci Monsieur Powell, merci Monsieur Dio.

The talent should never die. Thank you Mr. Powell, thank you Mr. Dio.

  • I just wish I had a shred of talent Ritchie Had.

  • Now this is hard rock!! :D

  • I always thought rainbows are gay... This one is AWESOME!

  • @PisauraXTX Rainbows are METAL!!!! :D

  • Can you believe the talent gathered here at that moment... My Gawd!! \m/

  • The best opening ever!!!

  • Ogni volta che ascolto Ronnie mi si apre il cuore.... Grandissimi tutti......!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rainbow is in top form here. I caught the early leg of this tour in San Jose at the Civic Auditorium and it was my favorite Rainbow concert, and I have seen plenty.

  • RIP Ronnie James.

  • The best opening ever!!!!

  • Saw their act at the Jahunderhal in FRG circa 75/76? Awesome

lights&silk screen, looked like it was coming at you(did rooms

that night!) The theater was classic with cops everywhere. Was

tense&controlled at first till Dio went to front of stage&yelled"come

on"everybody ran to front.Blackmore had picks stuck all over guitar

&mic&gave them out between licks to front rowers.Hall had 4

chan capacity surround snd, loudest concert 4me. Dio &

  • SHIT I'M DEAF!!!

  • Bob Daisley is a freakin' machine. Listen to that bass.

  • i remember playing this song for all my friends who were listening to freakin yes and genesis and saying ...hey ya know this sh*t is better don't ya think?...they just stared at me with their jaws on the floor...had lost their balls and found em' in an instant!

  • One of their very best songs. A progenitor of speed metal. Hail Ronnie. You will never be forgotten.

  • Rainbow is an excellent band. Too bad music like this is not made anymore.

  • FOR ME RONNIE IS BETTER THAN MERCURY

  • @Darkzabuza7 different not better !

  • @bacalex61 Agreed. Freddy and Ronnie were awesome. Both in a class of their own. Who care who is better. We were all lucky enough to be alive at 'their' time.

  • @Darkzabuza7 hell yeah!! Ronni is not nly better, he is the best

  • @Darkzabuza7 you´re on reason....long live rock´n roll

  • Great

    Thank youvery much for posting

  • how could I ever say enough!!!! ----

  • Vaya con Dio, Amigo Ronnie.

A man gifted with a presence and talent that is now sadly absent in whatever is left of rock music nowadays.

I'm so lucky to have seen him back in the day and during the recent Heaven and Hell Tour. Rock in Peace. \m/

  • q.e.p.d. maestro

  • Ronnie James Dio is the best singer of any rock and roll band that was is and maybe ever will be. Plus, the man was a total gentleman and so down to Earth. I mean, Ronnie had real class.

  • master, highness, majesty.....DIO

  • Dio u r still alive and singing in our heart R I P

  • I didn't like Rainbow after Dio left-they sounded like 80's Forigner type generic rock. But Blackmore and Dio were awesome back in the day-they were a great band. \m/

  • None better, RIP my friend.

  • wow this video with two dead ppl, RIP DIO you'll be forever in our hearts, RIP Cozy Powell one of the most versatile drummers in music history

  • R.I.P. Dragon Slayer-no one will ever be the epitome of metal like you

  • One of my all time favorite songs and first exposure to Ronnie's AMAZING voice...

    R.I.P. R.J.D.

    You will be missed...

  • Great to know that two of the greatest are caught together making great music in this blistering live-performance - preserved for all eternity - R.I.P. RJD.

  • RIP Ronnie :(

  • Rest in Peace Ronnie...when we hear thunder, we'll know it's YOU rockin the clouds and making them cry for mercy!!

  • Rest in Peace Dio! He was always THE singer of Black Sabbath. He didn't sell out into a narssisstic bastard who enjoyed the big fat checks over the love and devotion of his fans. Dio will always be one of, if not, the greatest singer in metal. He's the human exemplification of The Frontman, as well as The Artist whoes music and magic will live on forever.

  • RIP Ronnie. you were the man!

  • goodbye ronnie! miss you already!

  • DIO is still with us....all you need to do is this: \m/ R.I.P.

  • Every rock band on the planet should watch this and take fucking notes!! THIS IS ROCK & ROLL! THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE. From the ass--kickin drums of Cozy, the masterful progressions of Richie, to the pure power and showmanship of Ronnie James. So thankful I grew up in this era of music and not the shit that gets pushed on us as rock music of today. R.I.P Ronnie...you are missed...you are a rock icon.

  • best Rock singer ever!!!

    Requiascat in Pacem, Ronnie.

    "Still I'am Sad"

  • R.I.P Ronnie

  • RIP Ronnie

  • R.I.P. Ronnie.

Wishing you enjoy gig with Cozy up there.

  • R.I.P. DIO the best voice in the history of Heavy Metal

  • Bless you Ronnie--may you rest in peace.

  • Dio, you will live in the industry forever

  • R.I.P. Ronnie! You will be missed!!

  • Rainbow. Can't go wrong listening to these guys! Every member of this lineup in Rainbow are masters at their craft and had successful careers outside of Rainbow in their own right. They sure made music magic here.

  • rainbow and sabbath are pretty equall to me

  • I was at the Manchester gig at The Free Trade Hall.....bloody hell time flys by !!

  • Blackmore shreds, Dio kicks ass, uptempo! +keyboards. why on earth did ritchie break this lineup up?

  • Blackmore fired Daisley and Stone - the Dio left before the next album because Blackmore wanted to go more commercial.

  • Rainbow was great on those early albums with Dio. I picked up a copy of On Stage when I was a teenager and was hooked. It's too bad Ritchie and Ronnie haven't reformed Rainbow for a tour.

  • Excellent concert! Dio has a BIG voice for a little guy. LOL

  • So sad that Ritchies greatest guitar was stolen from his house. The Strat from California Jam (Natural Finish) was his best one... This is the one which should be produced by Fenders Custom Shop. I hate the white Strat....

  • lets be honest blackmores tone is fucked here, intro riff sounded like shit

  • Vintage Rainbow Dio and Blackmore at there best

  • Vintage!!!!!

  • I Purchased the album Rainbow Rising back in the early eighties When vinyl Was on the "5 for 10 rack"At The Listening Booths and Wall To Wall Sounds all over, was like 14yrs. old. I had already been familiar with The fist Rainbow album,But, this one blew me away that night when i slipped into my trusty headphones at bedtime. I remember smoking some kind of something... Then i never was the same again! The voice ,the guitar, the drums..THE POWER!!!!

  • Ritchie Blackmore was one of the first shredders. He basically turned 1970's guitaring into the 80's.

  • "THE GREATEST ROCK DRUMMER OF ALL TIME" BAR NONE!! God Rest His Soul!!!

i was 13 in 77..i should have followed them around the world...

    if only i knew then....

  • @rockerr121

Right on bro. Cozy Powell was 1 of the world's best drummers, was very underrated IMO.I was 14 that year myself, sadly I never got to see Rainbow perform live. Many consider Cozy to be equal in talent to Bonham & Moon, his style was more bombastic similar to Bonzo however.
