All about Judo indeed... even with its Atemi Waza (strikes) facet that most people don't know about to exist in the art. Great job... ;) Thumbs Up for your video! (still, the music could have been better... lol, but still, great job)
I like the video. That part when the guy demonstrates moves against a chair is quite weird...
I can`t believe people didn`t get over this silly hatred against bjj yet. Yes it came from judo ne-waza and has the same basic moves. Yes, Kimura kicked Helio`s ass. So what? since then bjj has evolved a lot and there are lots of things you don`t see in judo. Is it the best martial art? No! I don`t think there is a best martial art. Practice what you like and stop talking shit about the other ones.
JUDO Gentleman not MMA JUDO This is a Noble Sport the rest is Merchandise...this is a Gentleman Sport and a Great SELF DEFENSE ...IF Someone doubt it ... Im Here.
Great HL but I want an honest reply to my next question from all you Judoka.Where would you rank Judo among the grappling arts? For me it's BJJ= Sambo> Judo> Wrestling.
Royce won the rematch, but kicked Yoshida Balls before to dominate the match. I think BJJ is overrated, but the Gracies focused the techinques of the Judo in real fighting
Hi again, i train judo and kickboxing, in an amateur level off course, and i dont have anything against BJJ or the Gracies, but i think that is stupid that the Gracies fights some amateur fighters from other styles, wins, and then you have a bunch of morons thinking that the BJJ is THE ART. BJJ is a good grappling system as good as judo, sambo or wrestling
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Totaly true. I think is not what you train but it is HOW you train. If you train hardcore, you're gonna be a hardcorefighter, no matter the style. But.... i still think BJJ is a scam and it's soooooooooooooo overated.
whether or not its overrated is an opinion but to say its a scam is a little delusional. especially when a lot of the practioners train to fight (they dont always win). its stupid how people can come out and call bjj a scam when it has had plenty of success defeating greats from many martial arts. no matter what happens, or how good it is, people will hate bjj because of 2 things.
1. its brazilian and they think they stole it from japan.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Is not brazilian dude, 99% of the moves where stolen from the Kosen Judo schools. The gracies stole the moves, add like 3 or 4 from their own and change the names fo the moves. I think that doing that is not "creating" a new amrtial arts, and I still can't find the B in bjj
omg.....i dont think you even read my reply and you are very ill informed about what judo and jiu-jitsu is and was. the founder of judo was a jiu jitsu practitioner. he called his style kano jiu jitsu. later it came to be known as jiudo or judo. in the early years, the japanese did not differentiate much between jiudo and jiu-jitsu. this is was even more true outside of japan where they were both known as jiujitsu. when it arrived in brazil, thats what it was called.
it was actually the japanese that differentiated brazilian from japanese jiu jitsu because they believed that the art was growing by itself seperately from the mainland japanese styles. striking training in brazilian JJ was neglected and was generally averted by taking opponent to the ground instead of using standing locks and throws. in addition, weapons training and weapons defence was completely avoided. so was the situations of dealing with multiple attackers.
further more, the japanese cultural traditions in the art were not present that much because it was not applicable to brazilian culture. the japanese training methods are also not very visible in bjj. the japanese tried very hard to make sure that this didnt happen with karate in brazil. and this is why you dont have brazilian karate.
the differences between bjj and jjj and judo are similar to that of differences between various kempo styles that are in china, japan and america.
JUDO WAS ORIGINALLY CALLED KANO JUJITSU, JUDO IS A COINED TERM MEANING GENTLE WAY, MORE SO JUDO HAS GIVEN BJJ AN ASS KICKING ON SEVERAL OCCASION, OF COURSE BJJ NEVER MENTION THAT, NO NO NO, BJJ ONLY SHOW YOU THE FIGHTS THEY WON ON THE RULES THEY SET! OR THE PEOPLE THEY COMPETE AGAINST, I .E JUDO PLAYER WITH NO GI AND PLENTY OR INJURIES OR JUDO PLAYER WITH GI VERSUS GUY WITHOUT GI...AHEM AHEM ROYCE (who still didnt win!) GO KIMURA!
brazilian jiu-jitsu is a mix of japanese jiu-jitsu and judo. however, since "judo" was not really recognized at the time of its creation, and since judo was synonymous with jiu-jitsu, the brazilians called their variation brazilian jiu-jitsu....just like how there are so many different kinds of kempo....Hawaiian, Okinawan, American despite still be classified as kempo.
for self defence, both are just as useful. judo has better standup techniques and throws, takedown defence, while bjj has better ground game and submissions.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
BJJ is a scam dude, the gracies claim they invented it, but they're just thieves. they stoles the movews from the Kosen Judo schools, which where judo schools that enfazise more on newaza techniques (groundwork techniques).
ok dude come on the stealing moves thing is the most asburd thing ever. K! judo stole moves from jiu jitsu. kano jigoro the founder of judo was a jiu jitsu practitioner. judo was called kano jiu jitsu. he "stole" the move katagurama from western wrestling (the fireman). now i personally believe that nobody "stole" anything. the arts recognized what was effective and incorporated to their art. A lot of the Traditional arts dont do that anymore and that is one of their problems.
they are allowed to where the gis in some mma leagues. they can use it to "smuther" their opponents which disrupts breathing or do certain types of chokes that cant be done without it, but the opponents can also use it as leverage as well.
Shut the fuck up

Who won against Hélio Gracie? A judoka called Kimura.
Who won Royce in a Gi fight? Yoshida.
Who teaches Hélio,s brother? A Judoka Called Maeda.
So, take carefull against the judokas.
baccili 3 years ago 2
1. Kimura was one of the greatest grapplers
2. Royce won the rematch against Yoshida
3. Helio took his art beyond what Maeda taught him to make it his own unique style.
So still where do you rank Judo compared to other grappling?
Plato86 3 years ago
Royce won the rematch, but kicked Yoshida Balls before to dominate the match. I think BJJ is overrated, but the Gracies focused the techinques of the Judo in real fighting

Nonsense Yoshida was never kicked in the balls he just gassed because he was in poor conditioning. BJJ is no more overated than judo.
