I haven't played IL-2 in a while. It has a different feel overall. I remember needing to adjust quit a bit to the rudder in IL2 for snap shots but longer range shots seems much easier in IL2.
I like how everyone says allied is easy mode, I have played both sides and its pretty balanced, axis tanks pwn, if used correctly axis airpower is on par with allied so it pretty much comes down to whos in the cockpit or in the tank that decides how well it works, I was on a mission with a guy who used Pnzr 3 and got 12 tank kills plus like 20 inf kills in a single life.
Late air war definetley favors allied. Spit9 and P38 keep their E so much better than any axis plane its not even funny. Axis can do well, but only working in teams of drag and bag. Any sort of turning will kill your E and the allies instantly gain the advantage.

Every sim has a slightly different flight model, so yeah, untill I got the hang of it, I probably would, just like you'd get beat in this game left and right untill you got the hang of it.
@HannibalFL86 Yeah thats fairly common in the 109s. I don't know if they were really this unstable but in this game they spin much more easily than the allied planes. Gotta go easy on the stick and make sure the plane is properly trimmed out.

Its a simulator, so it acts like a real plane. You throttle up and it starts to go. You throttle down it will start to slow down but you have plenty of momentum to work with.
i said it wrong i guess, i played a simulator before that wouldnt let you climb until you had enough power to go, and sometimes it would stall when you tried to climb, is this one that touchy? or is it throttle up, and it has enough power to do just about anything
No, this is a simulator, so when you lose speed in a climb or in a tight turn you will stall out. World War II planes couldn't climb like modern fighter jets.
I can tell that this game's incredibly realistic when I can forward or rewind the video to any point and still believe that that's what the cockpit of that plane would look like in reality at that moment.
The airwar aspect of this game use to kickass.. Best flight Sim out there. I was a loyal fan since 2002. But this game really took a crap of late due to poor development by the developers.. Would not recommend playing..
Its the only game that combines multiple simulations in to the same game.. No other game combines a tank simulator, a flight sim, FPS sim and navy sim and models them to scale, PERFECTLY in the same game... I would HIGHLY recommend playing this game ESPECIALLY if you know what you are talking about when it comes to how warfare is conducted. The most realistic war game out there bar none. Server tracked pieces of shrapnel, everything

Sounds like a great game. But wouldn't a server tracking shrapnel increase lag? Do the servers/levels include all three sims at once? Is there ground combat as infantry?
I believe the player end tracks shrapnel and then then just tells other players when they are hit by it. Server side just has to let them where they got hit and by what.
Yes, there is infantry, tanks, air, and limited boats all playing together at the same time. If you can see well enough, you can fly around town and strafe down individual troops.
man those guys you were shooting down really sucked at mounovering from ur shots too many of them flew straight for more then 6 seconds which gets u killed...
