  • Stevie looks like he is enjoying it! LOVE ME SOME DAVE GROHL!!!!

  • Awesome

  • 4:53 - 4:55 Paul does not seem to like his singing, in fact, it looks like he isn't enjoying the performance at all. It looks like Paul's expression is one of disappointment or disgust as he looks down to the floor after singing the lyrics silently to himself...

  • @electron115 he might not have been feeling good. I've seen people do similar things when they are sick or had a really bad day. I think he enjoyed the performance and I know he like Dave Grohl.

  • I'd pee myself if I had to do something like this... What a brave guy.

  • Dave Grohl will get his Gershwin Prize someday too. He is the Lennon/McCartney of our time! Thumbs up if you agree

  • haha! abe laboriel is a cool dude!!!! dave grohl is gnar gnar, even playing for the president!!!!

  • This is what I call Rock and Roll

  • That drummer is having a REALLY good time haha. Awesome.

  • I think I love the drummer

  • Obama has just been ROCKED!!!

  • Freeze it at 5:00 and you can see his gum. Playing Paul's song, in front of Paul AND THE PRESIDENT, while chewing gum. Awesome.

  • @willaspencer12 Haha, that is Mentos.

  • Comment removed

  • @willaspencer12 Dave always chews gum when he sings so his mouth doesn't dry out

  • I never thought I'd see Dave Grohl singing to Stevie, Paul and Obama in the White House.

  • The first thing I'd do as president is get Dave Grohl to play for me.

  • Nice moves 5:23

  • Nice moves 2:23

  • its gotta be so cool playing pauls song to paul (and the president) with pauls band!

  • "Mr. President, you're my other hero"

    I love him.

  • dave grohl is so rock and roll!!!!!

  • is stevie wonder there???

  • Dave Grohl 4 President 2012!!!

  • great cover

  • i like that paul is singing along to his own song haha it's just humorous

  • The tax payers support the Whitehouse with our hard earned money but we are never invited to these free concerts,I wonder how many millions this show costs when we are broke as a nation?

  • @MultiWharfrat give me a break. There have always been special performances at the White House. I'm proud as an American to support the White House, which has been the home to both Democrat and Republican presidents and their familes. And we're broke thanks to the president who was in office for 8 years before Obama. Not so easy to fix in 3yrs.

  • @mermcc and 5 trillion just disappeared huh? A true leader wouldnt be blaming a predecessor.

  • The drummer plays for Paul when he goes on tour,Dave is about to pee in his pants because he's basking the light of the Chosen One,Obama, the worst President EVER!

  • is that rusty

  • 2:46 Paul is apporving for Dave to join him in the hall of Gods

  • so this proves that Dave Grohl is GOD!

  • so this proves that Dave Grohl is GOD!!!!!!!!

  • DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHO IS THE DRUMMER?

  • @PuReNiRvANA1 the legendary Abe Laboriel Jr....

  • @PuReNiRvANA1 Abe Laboriel Jr... he is an awesome drummer, I saw him play with Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood 2 years back.. Greatest concert ever!!!]

  • So odd, but wonderful at the same time. Could not have imagined this in 1993.

  • pbs usually sucks. this licks lame science videos's ass!

  • why cant pbs show more of this?

  • I have two words to say: EYE CONTACT

  • What is the drummers name? ive seen him perform with numerous people and theres a big poster of him in the window for guitar center lol...

  • @Rhythmnguitar7185 John Candy 3:01

  • @altriego1 for me it was Forest Whitaker

  • Wow, a Dave Grohl performance, without Dave Grohl scream.

I hate it. I love his scream, lol

  • Obama, Dave Grohl, and Paul McCartney in one room, at the freakin' white house. Could anything be more awesome?

  • @camhasanemail yeah if Obama wasn't there

  • @matttestingtmp you're always free to move to Russia... Palin says the view is lovely there!

  • i bet he was thinking of linda when they played this.

  • i would love to see him sing helter skelter..that would be perfect for him

  • Stevie's digging it!

  • I grow up within the growing of foo fighters, can't love 'em more

  • 5:00 Only Dave Grohl can chew gum, sing, and play guitar at the same time...and make it look so darn cool. Luv ya Dave!!

  • @padresandintoes Jimi Hendrix always did this too.

  • All I can say is I love Dave Grohl. I love his spirit. :)

  • was cool to see Stevie groovin' and singing along.

  • I'm sure Obama hates both Grohl and McCartny's music. Any who would utter the pharse "ludacris is a talented individual" has shit for taste in music.

  • @BigJackAnderson Actually Obama was just being kind towards Ludacris... I'm pretty sure Obama is a fan of the Foo Fighters,

  • i thought he was going to play my hero

  • @valdivia562 That would have been badass haha

  • wats with the like huge bodygaurd 4 the drummer????lol

  • @Beatlez4ever778 That's Abe Laboriel Jr. He was also the drummer for Paul McCartney.

  • well done Mr. GROHL

  • Dave Grohl is the best musician out there right now. well maybe the best *new musician, since pauls still out there.

  • LOOOVED IT! I only wish the other Foos were there too. They should cover this song and either play it live or put it on a future album! I swear this man can do no wrong.

  • @iluvdavegrohl They have covered the song. It's on the greatest hits CD i believe. Go check it out..it's pretty good

  • @iluvdavegrohl I like how you said "other Foos" ,but great cover anyway!

  • what a voice

  • @sweeney2321 Actually Forever.

  • hell yeah

  • Just think..if Kurt were still alive, imagine the two of them singing together...if only

  • And right now, all these guys but the lead singer are touring the northeast and midwest.

  • @flightboy737 what exactly is your point? Because I'm pretty sure Dave is touring with Foo Fighters allover the world right now. They just played Itunes fest on the 11th. And they have a US tour starting sometime this year.

  • Love how they sit Paul McCartney right next to the President! Amazing to play in front of such influence

  • OMG

  • Cannot get more awesome than this, can it?

  • I would've been nervous if I was performing in front of the President of the U.S.A.

  • @drumjod My hands would be shaking so bad they wouldn't even know where to go on the fretboard

  • Not so bad for the once little punk kid running around DC. Thanks Dave. Kurt wouldnt believe this.

  • Finally something that or money is rightfully payed for

  • Wow, wow, wow. they probably ran this through twice!

  • Again, Dave Grohl amazes me.....this guy is unbelievable and can do any genre of music and kill it!!

  • dave is sooo coooollllll!!

he shows up in th e best places.

Hell i love Nirvana and Foo fighters, but damn he is so many more places.

  • @0:50 mmm as soon as those chords hit, all my trouble and pain disappear.

  • never get sick of watching this video. ever.

  • epic Obama head bob at 2:45

  • Gotta love the drummer. Fantastic!

  • I guess the Foo fighrter's drummer was the wrong color? Taylor I miss ya man.

  • @MrTwinsrule What a silly racist crack. Taylor and Abe Laboriel jr aren't really in the same league, now are they? If you were a musician or a drummer you would know this.

  • This is random, but damn I love Paul's drummer. He's always so into the music & he's a fantastic drummer.

  • this is dave grohl holding back. i bet he was dying to let it rip but he might've scared the straights ha!

  • i hate obama

  • @TheXman511 stevie was really diggin it. that was cool

  • Now that's the way it should be played!

  • wonder what kurt cobain would think... Dave singing a paul mccartney song in a suit at the white house?

  • @johnnymac497 well kurt loved the beatles so.........

  • @johnnymac497 I bet Kurt would have done the same, especially if he had made it to his late 30's,early 40's. It's not a tough decision when someone of Paul's stature requests you.

  • @johnnymac497

I don't think he would have done the same. Kurt was very punk rock through and through, and let's face it, Obama IS the establishment. Cobain was a reasonable person (I mean, from what I've seen in interviews) but he was always questioning and had a very negative view of authority. Of course, Kurt would have been much more willing to perform for Obama than that retarded psychopath of a president we had 4 years ago.

  • @VegitoVai90 funny you call our former president a psycho path when obamas doing the exact same thing he did, bush: hey lets go bomb those a hole muslims who flew plains into the two towers.

obama: oh hey ya libyas a suck ass situation lets bomb the christ right out of them.

bush wasn't perfect but obamas far from it also

plus i think that bush was a pretty good presient so..... except for the lack of walls to mexico, whats with that?

  • @bluetseel With the exception that the Bush administration never devised a comprehensive education agenda as evident in you post. "presient"?

  • I hope Dave got to smoke a cig with Barack

  • dave grohl tore that up! so good

  • Paul is great but Lennon just had the right stuff too make The Beatles what they where! sorry Paul.R.I.P. John and George :(

  • absolutely fantastic version...and kudos to the rest of the band...just all around great playing/singing!

  • next bring the foo fighters and play Rope

  • This is rock!

  • who would ever dislike this?

  • 125,536 VIEWS ARE TRULY FANS FOR DAVE AND PAUL... BEST COVER VERSION

  • Great, great, great version of this song.. Dave!!

  • From Eagles to Foo Fighters.

They are bringing back old songs and livening them up. Because, what makes you think teens of today are going to listen to original versions of old songs when they're used to all the Rap and pop songs? The FF's add a pop/rap tone that makes people like the song without screwing up the song. Look at Baker Street and Down in the Park.

  • for the haters: to say dave grohl's vocals dont cut it, that is insane to say. dave is a musical master genius. his talent outweighs nearly every CURRENT artist. i think this cover is right up there with the original. GROHL=JESUS (music style)

  • There is NOTHING more bizarre than seeing this group of *ELITES* whose decisons control (and are destroying) our nation, tapping their knees stiffly to this band. No one dances...there's no spirit in that room at all.

They just do not deserve to breath the same air as the Foo Fighters or anyone who possesses any true creativity.

Did ya not notice McCartney at 4:55?

He looked like he was about to nod off!

Well, Stevie Wonder gets a pass - he's into it!

  • If I had to play with Paul McCartney and the President 5 feet in front of me, my voice would crack, I'd piss my pants, and then start crying.

  • HA. Like the old white man sitting beside Obama knows what he's doing at 4:52

  • Dave Grohl was the true brains of Nirvana...anyone that knows music knows that.

  • @ikaikaarnado Yeah thats completely untrue kid. He just began making creative strides with the band during the recording of their last and unfinished album. Nirvana was Kurt Cobain from the beginning and you are honestly the first person who has ever thought otherwise. Even Grohl would tell you you're nuts,

  • @ikaikaarnado grohl wasnt the true brains of Nirvana. dave my favorite artist, and yet even i know that..it was kurt AND! krist. not just kurt..they created everything, and the ideas..most of it was all kurt..dave was the one who exploded them into the mainstream with his sick ass drumming. but like ikaikaarnado said ,even dave knows nirvana was all kurt and krist. he just did his part as a drummer, lucky for them, hes a legendary drummer. but i mean, you take any of them out,and nirvana is done for.

  • dave grohl is an amazing musician....love it

  • Paul's songs are so deceptively difficult. I love Grohl, but this song demonstrates that he is no Paul, but few people are, so I can't really fault him too much.

  • Where's Paul?

He has Paul's band w/o Paul

His vocals don't quite cut it.

  • @ekduke11 Paul is in the crowd sitting next to the President.

  • Drummer is Abe Laboriel Jr. He's been playing with Paul's band for several years now.

  • I love singing drummers. They guy from the romantics ("What I Likie About You) ... Don Henley from the Eagles ... this guy ... love love love it.

  • Dave is my hero.

  • are dave and paul friends or something? i see lots of vids of them performing together. just wondering. i know nirvana were beatles fans

  • I would like to see cannibal corpse performing in front of the president

  • Drummer = Beast

  • that was awesome

  • I do love this man. He is sweet natured and generous and way talented.

  • Dave killed it! Great job, if I still had long hair I'd be headbanging so hard to this

  • This is a little strange, with Paul sitting watching his band play

  • yeah its' helpful to have Pauls band but I do give props to Dave, the last true rocker!!!

  • you do gotta love Sir Paul's drummer but this is a travesty. "the silly square" ?!? Paul's band looks so bored...

  • you gotta love that drummer :)

  • This guy should stick to songs he can actually sing and hit all the notes...this is a mess...

  • @theskindiver007 I agree. What the hell was Sir Paul McCartney thinking letting this amateur sing his song in The White House? And if Stevie Wonder was rockin' on the tune...everyone knows he does'nt have an ear for music. You are an effin' idiot who needs to stick with what you know, skin diving in the brown eye canal. You wouldnt know a rock legend if one hit you in the face.

  • @napalm940

"Amaueur"...? Do your homework bud. Dave is the real deal. I doubt Paul would have given his approval for this if he didn't enjoy their interpretation of the song. You cover this effin song. Easier said than done. Well done in my opinion. Beatles are kink, Grohl did a badass job!

  • @napalm940

  • Great cover. I like it better than the original.

  • Dave, you're MY hero.

  • Dave is the shit. plain and simple

  • 17 Republicans

  • gotta love Stevie Wonder @ 4:10 & 4:52!

  • Wooooo my idol! Dave is so hot. I loved this performance so much!!

  • he needs to do a studio version!

  • @ACDC392333 The Foos have one actually...

  • @ralphyetmore Have you been living under a rock the last 20 years?

  • Where have you been the last 20 years?

  • Dave Grohl for President!

  • I dunno. Grohl's never done anything that i thought was great or exciting. He always seemed a little overrated to me. Could someone point me to something that they thought was a great moment in Grohl's career?

Seriously, not trying to bash the guy. I genuinely would like to know what the fuss is about. Maybe I haven't seen the guy at his best. Anyone have a good link to an example of Grohl at his best?

  • @ralphyetmore he was the drummer for Nirvana when they released Smells like Teen Spirit and the Nevermind album

  • @ralphyetmore Go watch his live performances with Nirvana. And go listen to the stuff he did on drums for Queens of the Stone Age on the album "Songs for the Deaf". Not to mention go listen to the first 3 albums of the Foo Fighters. The guy is an amazing and versatile musician.

  • @RebelThoughts also all the drumming on the Tenacious D albums....

  • @RebelThoughts Why only the first 3 albums?

  • @RebelThoughts Them Crooked Vultures too.

  • @RebelThoughts u suck

  • @RebelThoughts Very well put! I hope people who really respect a true musician add Dave to their collection.

  • @ralphyetmore have you even heard of them crooked vultures? wow. you homo.

  • that drummer is hilarious

  • Dave Grohl, one of the most talented and inspirational musicians of our time.

  • We need more true rockers like Grohl in todays day and age.

  • grohl was pissing himself playing at the grammys... I wonder how nervous he was here in front of God Paul and Obama.

  • His vocal is AMAZING in this song. So controlled yet so emotive in the last third of the song. seriously bad-ass!!!!!

  • I miss Dave behind the drums but this pretty awesome. I would love to get loud in front of the president. Dave Grohl is amazing and to the person that said in the comments that Dave sold out just because he's playing at the white house that is total nonsense. Anyone that would have the opportunity to rock out in front of our nations leader would jump at the chance, I don't care who it is.

  • @dwiganstube We've always got Them Crooked Vulturs with Dave behind the drums.

  • nicee

  • good thing dave wasn't on the drums everyone n that room would have been blown away by his eargasmic style

  • Grohl/Hawkins '12

  • What a cheese-ball sellout Dave Grohl has turned out to be. A complete phoney, kissing up to Obama and that has-been McCartney. Another FAKE REBEL who has made millions selling his phoney "tatooed punk-rebel" schtick to the public.

  • @gmd1417 completely untrue but ok

  • @gmd1417 why does that anger you? you think he's making music for YOU? xD musicians make music because they ENJOY it. they're going to do what makes them happy and nobody gives half a rats ass what you think.

  • @gmd1417 i bet ur a repulican huh? lol cause u sure are ignorant like one hahah

  • @gmd1417

you're getting mad at him for being a genuine person? your idols are still human beings too, poser.

  • I think Clapton needs to hand down the title of "Jesus" to Dave already...

  • This man is playing in front of THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and he's screaming his ass off. Idol.<3

  • Dave is a talented musician, no doubt. I just don't think he is a good song writer and all of his music sounds the same.

  • MOSH PIT

    and wer is taylor hawkins

  • @retardesRus thats pauls band......

  • @steelryder1 I don't know the others, but spotted Rusty on the 335 in a second. I know that guy. Can't believe the 335 wasn't his trusty red one.

    Peace,

    EC was here..
