had one in 1996 when I was 28 so not quite so childhood memories for me. My first computer was a Commodore Vic 20 in 1983 now that was a childhood teen memory. Why am I so old !!!

Sega's biggest mistake was releasign the SEGA CD then the SEGA 32X and then releasing the SATURN five months later. And because of this shoddy marketing and fooling around gamers couldn't trust Sega again and so they bought other systems. The Dreamcast may have sold considerably more systems (More than the GameCube definately) if this hadn't have happened, however it has and Sega is no longer with us with hardware

sega was a true giant back then. I still believe sega's biggest mistake was the Dreamcast. I loved the genesis and the saturn. Dreamcast.....not so much.

haha love how everyone refers to the older consoles by the word length of the CPUs that they used. The graphics on the NES and SNES and atari 2600 were because of RAM limitations. The CPU in the SNES is 3 MHz. THREE MEGAHERTZ. And it has better graphics than the Genesis.

The Genesis had 64k of RAM btw. I think the NES had 16k.

Not much memory for graphics and stuff.

I loved the transition from consoles with nicely drawn sprites (16 bit) to consoles with badly or no rendered 3D textures (ps and saturn).

Brilliant at the time, I didn't even notice how bad the graphics where!

The Sega Saturn arrrrrrr yes I remember you well fantastic for 3D games but rubbish for 3D games and decent videos, It was alright thou shame it was rushed like it was if Sega kept there cool and waited a bit longer I reckon it would have had some great hardware from it's time.

@Nakatomiuk83 yea, but the thing was actually 'waiting in the wings' when 3DO was released in 1993 (according to then Sega CEO Tom Kalinske) but over the next year changes were made to compete with the ASAP designed Sony Playstation.

Sony trumped Sega with a 1994 design that was ahead of the Saturn architecture as the 3D era approached forcing Sega to retool the Saturn

but it was far too late for a new board design so they updated the old one and pushed it out there.

If you use REAL Console, I recommend you to buy the used one.

If you use Emulator, find BIOS yourself.

Is this the start-up for the USA Saturn? I have a Saturn emulator and a BIOS and it has different music and a different logo. Maybe my BIOS is for the European or Japanese Saturn.

Possibly. This looks exactly like the Saturn boot screen for the US version. The JAP version had just the words "Sega Saturn" (stylized, of course) over the metallic background.

BTW, PS1 is better than Saturn.

Yes, this is the start-up for the NTSC-U (North America) Saturn. (I believe European PAL machines also use this start-up.)
