  • Sorry but the song is nothing without the lyrics-simple, heartfelt and poignant.

  • Fair point. I respect your view . You may well be right.

  • Keith Emerson's version you mean

  • No. Tim Hardin wrote the song, recored and released it in 1966. The Nice did a cover version in 1974.Look at the Wiki

  • I think the Nice were actually playing, if not having yet recorded, in 69.

  • Opps - (before I get shot down) 1974 was the EMI remix version as The Nice recored the original cover version on Hang On To A Dream" in 1969on the Immediate label.

  • Keith Emerson was in the Nice before ELP. When you see the video of the Nice version, that is Keith Emerson and co. doing it.

  • This is true, but Tim Harding wrote and first performed this ditty.

  • I think The Nice' version is absolutely bloody awful! Though I find Tim's version one of the most beautifully painful and heartfelt vocals of all time!

I really don't like this version, though. Sorry, Artealee. Is it you or a family member? I mean, it's obviously very nicely played but I don't like the synth and the song is nothing without those vocals.

I don't think it can be covered at all though. It is such a part of Hardin.
