  • this is pure awesomeness, no words!

  • Hoots!

  • Hoots!

  • wow! this is sick!

  • STEVE GOD!

  • how does he do that thing from 0:00-2:34

  • @mattisprettycool Yeah, that's the part I can't quite get. The rest is easy.

  • i love crazy gadd! he plays well when relaxed too, but its just not so..exciting!

  • It's seems like the best drummers have this certain level of confidence that 99% of drummers don't have. When you watch this level of skill the last thing you have to think about is timing--it's just there without question.

  • his timing and feeling is just sooooooooo amazing! Love this guys!

  • eeeeeek gadd !!!

  • Shut up !!! I hate people wich says ''Steve Gadd ist better than Travis'' :they are two fucking good drummer. Can Steve Gadd plays in Blink 182 as well as Travis ? I don't think so.I really love Steve Gadd but you guys must respect Travis

  • @JustonGroove your kidding right?

  • @GatsbysGreenLight987 No dude...Music is the most beautiful art but, this is a way to think two

  • @JustonGroove I mean i can sorta see what your saying here....but i do have to disagree. I'm pretty sure Gadd would rip blink 182 and i'm pretty sure they would ask him to play for them.

  • Gadd is Great!

  • 2:06 is a great sounding fill. i also really like 33 seconds. that simple groove is so cool. of course the whole thing is fantastic those are just my favorite parts

  • @andrben i hope to god you are being sarcastic

  • The people seem to like Steve Gadd just fine in this vid..

    watch?v=VZjV22kZUpA

  • @andrben

HAHA! Now THAT is funny... Steve Gadd needs a tuning lesson? The man who stamped his name on Steely Dan's "Aja"? The man who set the drumtrack for "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover"? This man needs a tuning lesson? hahahaha! I think you better look up Steve Gadd on Wikipedia before you comment further K? LMAO!

  • @SpockOfRock Just because a man can play a groovy lick doesn't mean he can tune a drum

  • @andrben That's Gadd sound. Very muffled.

  • not bad for a beginner !!!

  • @artjosh What?

  • They're eating her.....and then they're going to eat me....Ohh my GAAAAAADDDDD!!!

  • I just quit drumming and took up needlepoint instead XD

  • @allegedactor126 LMAO! Love it!

  • Jesus

  • Jesus man.. what the hell is that fast little rudiment/ pattern he's playing in the first groove? I'm trying to figure out what the sticking pattern is for it but he's playing it so damn fast.

  • Steve Gadd has the basics with flare down to an Art - he is also an Edjucator.

  • with out steve gadd - dave weckl might not be a cool drummer

  • Three dislikes? Them people be fuckin' kiddin' me?

  • Ma quale clinic!!!! è lo Zildjian Day

  • i didnt recognise him without the beard

  • His cymbals are super dry man!

  • only steve gadd could make a kit that sounds that shitty, sound so damn good.

  • somebody, quick - sample and loop that funky beat from 1:51 to 1:56 - damn thing made my dick fall off!

the fill at 1:58 wasn't too shabby, either. good lord, Gadd is sick.

  • Comparing Gadd to Travis Barker is like comparing fillet steak to a ten year old hamburger. No comparison.

  • JUST NEVER EVVVVER GETS OLD....AMAZZZZING!

  • Is he singing what he plays?

  • where the hell is the rest of this

  • fucking speechless

  • My all time favorite drummer. LOVE this clip. I feel bad for those of you drummers who cannot appreciate him.

  • holy crap

  • My all time favorite drummer!

  • This is what drumming is all about. This guy just grooves...

Now don't get me wrong, I love me some good Metal Double Bass drumming, But I get off watching stuff like this. It just has more groove and feeling to it.

  • Why did it have to end?!

  • he sucks~

  • that snare sounds like some drum he made from some old cupboard and his dogs skin

  • Oh

    My

    GADD!

  • steve gadd - proof that you can make a terrible drum kit sound amazing

  • love a drummer that head bangs

  • don't see the hype about this guy.. matt greiner and adam gray beat him hands down...

  • @BaddPanda trolllololol

  • @BaddPanda the youtube video titled "Buddy Rich on why he doesn't use match grip" is a personification of why they fail and why Gadd and similar drummers win.

  • zomg hes playing with the wrong end of the sticks!!!

  • @iamTheNinjaHobo he always does XD it gives a phatter cymbal sound.

  • his rudiments are flawless.. obviously the marching background. his double strokes are so clean and even, perfect time

  • love the way he just has the sound "through the mike" rather than some reverb thing...makes you feel like you're right on his shoulder listening in

  • the father of the drummers

  • @akubejo00 grandfather :P

  • @NUProductions4Music @ariesram74 AGREED. Gadd has more talent in his right foot than Barker has in his entire body.

  • @NUProductions4Music wow...you really need to let go and say how you feel...lololol

  • @ariesram74 you obviously must be a Juvenile

if not your are trying to start a war

Barker is small beans compared to the grooves this man sets out learn actual drums and you will understand you incompetent Prick

  • @ariesram74 this guy could beat barker using his dong

  • @ariesram74 They play different styles, you cannot compare them. Travis plays hard rock, and is good at what he does, while Steve Gadd plays pocket grooves in funk and also plays jazz. Travis barker is a great drummer, and so is steve. it is a matter of appreciating different styles

  • @ariesram74 troll FTW :DDD

  • @ariesram74 Travis Barker is on top of his game when it comes to pop-punk drumming, but in all honestly what is there to pop punk drumming other than playing simple 4/4 really loudly? Where is the groove or originality or expression? Now on the other hand Steve Gadd HAS the groove, and it is the most divine and visceral of grooves combined with the complex cerebral elements of paradiddles and mozambique techniques that flourish in the fills. Passionate and soulful.

  • @ariesram74 U MUST DIE

  • Impeccable timing, and it's like he has a perfect metronome embedded in his brain. And, he just loves the drums...you can see it, and feel it. Gadd. Period.

  • This is called Steve Gadds groovy solo- but, if its Gadd shouldn't that automatically imply that its full of groove??

  • Made me wanna cry, yo!

  • woo intense!

  • This is from when he still used a Ludwig snare. He eventually gave in a let Yamaha make him a signature one, but he fought it for quite some time.

  • 2:11 i don´t want to be that cymbals^^

  • That gave me a gaddgasm

  • He's Steve Gadd Man he can play whatever he wants.

  • good gadd almighty, this guy breathes drums

  • I have so many indispensable influences as a drummer, all of them amazing. But if someone put a gun to my head and said "Pick a favorite", it would be Gadd. I remember where I was the first time I heard him when I was 10 years old. It was the fill out of the intro into the first verse on Al Jarreau's "Roof Garden" (Breakin' Way - 1981). To this day, I've never heard a more musical drum fill.

  • gracias por el video!!!

  • Gadd is a Guru

  • Without wanting to stray into hyperbole, I think that's the best drum solo I've ever witnessed. Gadd is Good!!

  • very nice in 1:57

  • He is not a human been! :-D

  • how come theres no tips on his sticks

  • There are...He's holding them backwards.

  • oh why is it for cross sticking?

  • Yes, as a drummer myself I find it easier sometimes to just keep the sticks as they are. It also provides a "harsher" or more powerful sound when playing the cymbals/high hats as well.

  • i love his original drumming; so dynamic and tasty : )

  • Great! I've just realised that this is a good reference for snare tuning, cause the snarewire is off.....thanks!

  • he tunes it pretty flat, it's more acceptable these days to have some overtones in your snare sound, even encouraged.

  • This is such a great example of how it's not just techinque, not that this isn't ultra perfect and tight, but my point is that you can clearly see how relaxed he is and how he is not rushing the groove, he is letting his brain come up with good stuff as he goes along, Every note has it's place, nothing extra, nothing wasted.

  • Who put the pubic hairs on my Coke?

DAYum, Steve...you put the POW in my Kung Pow,

you also put the WOW in my Pow Wow

  • It's a shame no1 wants 2 play with such groove anymore!! every1 is look 4 da flashy stuff

  • those same rolls in his solo in Aja from Steely Dan's album 1:47 mmmmm

  • Oh my god!! After looking hard I have realised he does those quads from 00:54 and 00:59 with one foot! I know its not impossible but he does them so clean! I could have sworn he was using doubles until i looked. If you don't believe me then look, he only moves one leg and his hi-hat is kept closed! xD

  • i love the fact that until the 1:32 he doenst play with his traditional stick hand-grab...

  • Jesus, how loose is his snare, Its almost like a tom!

  • muito bom !!

  • AWESOME !!! my favorit....i can hear it over and over again...Freaking GREAT !!!

  • Woaw. It's just groove. It's incredibly.

S.Gadd It's just perfect. It's so Funky! Thank you to post it.

What live is it? What's the clinic?

  • I beleive its from a Zildjian Day clinic in 1984. This is vintage Gadd. Relatively simple, straightforward, deep pocket. Wish more drummers could see this video.

  • phenomenal!

  • It's 4/4. It sounds a little off when he goes to his cowbell(i think) but actually it's 4/4. And he like's to play his "gadd lick" on the 4+ (4 and)

  • i wonder what the time signature is?

  • Its in 4/4. Jazzykindaguy is right. There's actually a transcription of this on drummerworld, and its in 4/4.

  • there is no better than Stevie! wait and see I will become equal to him haha=D

  • in gadd we trust. he's just the BEST.

  • he is the man!!

  • Gadd rules !

  • Thanks Steve - Love the spaces that make the solo so interesting- check out David's solo

  • man...it's so hard to get tht groove in the pocket
