My recommendations, if you wanna record at high quality without choppyness are:

A] Create a new partition in your HDD

Cheap way to get better on-avg. performance without shopping for another HDD.

B] Create a RAID 0 partition at the end of your HDDs & use that as your temporary recording space.

Ok, so it seems for your card, there is a software that you use.

I never used a cap card, so I wouldnt know how to hack Fraps into it, but you can easily record with their software.

Problem with the software was that I could not record voice commentary. And to record it seperately, things would have gotten messy. I got fraps to work with it though so I am good now.

I use a program called arc soft to record xbox gameplay but it came with my capture card. It depends what capture card you have. i have an EzCap but if you have a dazzle you should use pinnacle studio. I also think you can use sony vegas 10 :)

@VintageBeef well in 1.3 spiders and zombies wouldn't hurt you unless they were above you, but if they weren't they would nudge you and lose interest after a few seconds. I think it got fixed in 1.3_01 or 1.4 but i'm pretty sure it was 1.3_01 :P

I have tried it with Fraps but it didn't work. I wish I could use frap because that's what I use for these Minecraft vids and I love it.

Or, how does your card communicate with your recorder?

Camtasia Studio is for recording the desktop. Your best off using Fraps to record video games, as it records the DX/OpenGL video stream.

I havent played with capture cards, but I think you would be able to see the video stream in your computer via a software from your card or via an open source software like VirtualDub, which you can capture with Fraps.

The software that is included with the card to see the video stream isn't very good. But if you say I can do that with virtualdub then I will give that a go.

I get small ones too but whenever I record, I always end up getting awesome caves. Maybe Minecraft knows it's gonna be on YouTube so it puts on a good show. Lol.
