If you're not piecing together the clone story you're missing one of the larger aspects of the FF7 story.

@untruthmaker As far as I know there are basically two types... Clones of Jenova and SOLDIER members that just got a bit hyped up from DNA. Direct Jenova clones and copycat people. Cloud and Sephiroth and some others are direct "clones" or beings created from Jenova whereas Zach and a lot of other soldiers are just hyped up troops boosted with mako energy or DNA. I'm fuzzy on that detail. Needless to say there could be flaws in the story itself as it is fractured and nothing is perfect.

Well cloud was angery and he wasn't taking sephiroth on head on he literaly stabbed him in the back. Doesn't take much tp accomplise that given the situation. SOILDER reqired that you be mentaly strong and somewhat physically strong I imagine the basic shinra troops were able to handle atleast some of the physical aspect of SOILDER remember zach and sephiroth were first class. I'm sure cloud could handle a simple stab.

I have never personally understood how in the world Cloud defeated Sephiroth here either. You are correct, as Cloud was infused with only Mako at this point, and Sephiroth (as we all are aware) is a superior being in every sense. The only good explanation would be that Cloud was already the product of experimentation, which he was not. I just don't see emotion and adrenaline getting anyone past the General. Sorry SE. Either way though, I will forever love this scene.

I heard an interesting theory that when sephiroth cuts jenovas head off and then later he impales cloud with the same sword, that is the first time where Clouds body is introduced to jenova cells and thats why he is able to throw Sephiroth like that.

Zack does all the real fighting, but theres two fights, 1st one is on a clear arena, the 2nd one is a battle against time as your on a thin pipe and if you dont finish sephy off in time, he throws you off the pipe automaticly to your doom.

aw, i personally preferred what happened in the PSone game. Cloud just stabbed Sephiroth in the back without him noticing, and THEN he started talking to him. It was so bad ass. Also, the music was better when Cloud throws him off the bridge. That's just my opinion...

Try powering and leveling up materia through missions. (It levels up depending where you slot it and the DMW.) And just blast the hell out of him once you master a certain element. I used Firaga.

Jenova was an alien that could infect people/animals with her cells. Like a werewolf infects with it's bite. The Jenova cells would infect the host and allow Jenova to control the mind of the victim and mutate the body to whatever for she wished. Once infected she could control people at a distance.

That's how Sephiroth controled Cloud and all the other people contaminated with Jenova cells. Sephiroth was able to use his Jenova mutated body to control other Jenova cells just like Jenova.

I think Cloud received a fatal wound from Masumune, but Hojo was able to save Cloud's life. Not that Hojo had the best of intentions there.

I think Zack must have weakened Sephiroth. Then Cloud was able to severely wound Seph in a surprise attack. That was a pretty serious gutting Cloud did.

Then at the end, Cloud did that crazy move which caused Seph to fall to his death into the Mako pit below the building.

Sephiroth is half human, half alien. Jenova's DNA is the key factor here because it's obviously dominant - hence he looks like her. Plus there's his inhuman strength, more than only Mako could produce. That's why nobody could ever do better than him in SOLDIER. In fact, I am still having trouble with solving the mystery of how Cloud was able to defeat him here at the Reactor. In ten years, it still makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. Never has. Hopfully though, it someday will. C'mon SE.

As far as I know, Sephiroth cannot truly be killed. He's the nightmare version of the Energizer Bunny - He keeps going, and going, and...

Also, in the 'does Sephiroth show emotion' category: Cloud had dared to stab him in the back - (Sephiroth's first EVER wound) hence, "By the likes of you", and he seemed pretty emotional when he was shouting "Know your place!" and cutting through Cloud like butter with the Masamune. Sephiroth has strong feelings too, so how does this defeat theory pan out?

Jenova killed Aeris - not Sephiroth. Many people seem to still think that Cloud is tracking and fighting Sephiroth the entire time during the FFVII game, but that conclusion is wrong. It is actually Jenova. Jenova is trying to slow Cloud down or stop him (disguised as Sephiroth) from reaching her son before the Reunion takes place. The Reunion is required for Sephiroth to become whole again. That is why we see "people" throwing themselves off of the cliffs at the Northern Cave. For Sephiroth.

Hey midgarpheyne, how about this? Cloud is very strong not nearly as strong as Sephiroth, however as in real life in desperate situations people are known to somehow gain incredible strength. Maybe Cloud in his desperate state accessed that strength managed to surpass the "wounded" Sephiroth (to Sephiroth's shock) and threw him over the edge.

Well, it would pretty much have to be that. I think you may be right, because Cloud had no Jenova cells when he first battled Sephiroth, and I don't think Mako would have been enough to defeat someone who had NEVER been defeated. That's the part that gets me. Even if Cloud is freaking out over the loss of his mother, and intent on revenge, I still don't see how that is enough to defeat Sephiroth. He stabbed Cloud through the heart with his Masamune! I mean, c'mon. There must be a veiled secret.

I don't know where my new friend downloaded some of these - he just sent them (because I'm a good sulker, I guess lol). Some of the originals had in-game battles to be removed, so he might own the game. I know he's played it for sure. Before he helped me out, I found quite a few of these shorter scenes just surfing the web. It's hard work to find decent clips to work with if you don't have the game yet.
