Chelsea bought him to score goals as a replacement for Drogba, they have Mata and Lampard to create assists, Torres' role is to finish off the chances, if he can't do that then I'm afraid he's useless as a striker and it's clear Del Bosque feels the same way as Torres isn't in the Spain squad.

@mooneeb123 You clearly don't know much about football, the main purpose of a striker is to score goals, yes it's good if they have pace, skills and can pass the ball but all those attributes are important for any positions (apart from goalkeeper) on the pitch. No doubt that Torres is a good players but he is failing at Chelsea and can not score goals mainly because Chelsea have a poor midfield that can't pass to a striker, at Liverpool Torres was constantly getting the ball.
