Try to put yourself in the shoes of the friends and loved ones of those who were involved in the wrecks. How would you feel if your spouse, brother, son or parent was killed and some sick retard replayed it over and over just for the enjoyment of it all. That is why most Open-wheeled drivers are thought of as 'Elitists'. They try their damnedest NOT to crash.
